can anyone recommend a good (and preferably free) newsreader for OSX? I've read Unison is good but i'm not willing to fork out the $24 on it. any ideas or suggestions? thanks.

To be honest I've never used a "newsreader", in fact I don't even know what it does but [ invalid url ] is good for finding Mac software. Hope this helps.

All I can say is good luck. One of the reasons I wouldn't consider a Mac. I'm sure there's probably something out there that will work for you but it may be hard to find and it may not be free.
Here's the best I can do I don't know anything about Macs or this software but it says it's free.
Also if you're looking for binaries, it might be harder than you think to find a good free one. I don't know.

I own a Mac and I use Unison. Unison is okay but it's nowhere as good as Newzbin on the PC side. Unfortunately, there aren't a great deal of newsreaders to choose from on the Mac.
If you use bootcamp, parallels, or fusion, then you can use a Windows based newsreader.

Have you tried Google's reader? It's nice if you already use Gmail, but very cool any way.
Also, NetNewsWire is now free. It's generally considered the best available. http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/NetNewsWire/
