I honestly can't think of a time when there were so many top BF performers working at the same time and getting a lot of attention. Older fans might remember but I seriously can't, judging from the 2000s till now. RoundandBrown and BlackGFs probably deserve some of the credit.
What's there to be upset about? Sure we got less black stars than before but as long as there's atleast a few like currently Ana Foxx, Chanell Heart, Jezabel, Skin Diamond etc. I'm fine. I get the impression that most black girls who come into porn don't have the same drive and desire as the girls I mentioned, so they shouldn't be victimized like some do.

Most females of any race don't have the same drive. A lot of chicks have drive, but just not to be well-known pornstars. Some of the smartest get out quickly and get $$$ doing escorting or feature dancing. So some like the attention, some do not. Edited by - research1 on 8/20/2015 11:19:14 AM
a lot of the black girls I see in the industry now get in for 1-3 years and then leave. its very rare they stay for long like a Vanessa Blue I think there's a lot more money for them post porn in stripping and appearances post porn This is definitely the golden age for black male performers though IR sites like Blacked have pretty made it possible for the same 4-6 guys to corner the market and be in everything.

There are a lot of gay white men with extra money to spend on porn that helps to prop up Blacked.com
I'm not sure, but certainly it's not a golden age at all talking of black mature/milfs. It seems that Diamond Jackson is the only black over forty performer on the entire planet.

Are you serious? It's one thing for you to say that something like Cuckold Sessions is homoerotic, but what exactly is "gay" about the scenes on Blacked? Edited by - misspornUSA on 8/20/2015 2:21:09 PM

Look what I found. It's right up there in the picture gallery for Valentina Nappi on Freeones. http://photos.freeones.com/v_various/Blacked/Valentina_Nappi_001/ You think straight men are all about a dude's butthole hiked up in the air and displayed for the camera? That is some gay shit right there, to suit their audience.

Does Misty Stone qualify as a "milf" yet? I think she's 30.
I will say this. Jezabel Vessir has got to be the hottest black performer ever. There may have been another one from way back in the early 90s but I cant remember her name. But Jezabel is the only one that has become one of my favorites.

I find that on average, most black female porn stars tend to have pretty faces, but also are unattractively overweight, or have lots of unsightly stretchmarks, scars, very saggy downward pointing tits, or other very noticeable blemishes that diminish their looks. The very, very few who are closer to fit, clean, with nice skin and hair and well kept appearances tend to be very vanilla in their performances, being cum dodgers, anal dodgers, and kind of boring to watch. Very rarely does a black female possess all the qualities that the vast majority of white, Latina, and Asian females do in porn.

"Golden age?" Meh, no. However, there has certainly been an increased interest in black girls lately, i.e. Chanell Heart, Teanna Trump. It was surprising to see that both of those girls have recently done scenes for Mason & Hard X. The prevalence of sites devoted to black girls, such as We Fuck Black Girls, Round and Brown and Brown Bunnies also indicates the interest for black girls out there. As for Asian girls...I'd refer to that situation as a "great depression" today.
Well the early to mid 00s had active beauties Lacey Duvalle, India, Promise, Jada Fire, Marie Luv, Vanessa Blue, the twins, some others I forgot the names of. I was in love with India back then.

^yeah, but you're just naming a few black performers. Save for maybe Jada Fire, none of those girls were true "stars" in the traditional sense of the word, versus the standard, "my name is on the box cover and I've done a few DVDs so I'm a porn star!" use of the term.
^Those girls were on many covers of dvd's. 'True star' not sure what that means, today I'd say there's only Skin Diamond and maybe Ana Foxx is on that level too. Before that Marie Luv, Lacey Duvalle and Jada Fire.

It is not a golden age but if Jezabel Vessir, Jade Aspen, Teanna Trump etc got the same opportunity as white actresses they would be top sellers. Jezabel could be the biggest star in porn.
Among those he mentioned Marie Luv actually got a few covers on Digital Playground movies , which was a company not very accustomed to shoot black performers let alone put them on their covers. I'd like a definition of "golden age" though , an era with an high number of stunning black beauties? an era with incredibly capable and nasty performers? An era with a great number of superstars? an era with the highest number of scenes with black girls? as for the stars, he failed to mention the one true superstar of that era Heather Hunter or in our current era Skin Diamond for both it has never been a matter of getting covers, they were both on the covers because them being in a movie boosted the sales of such movie and the producer wanted to make sure the customers saw them hence the covers they were given , more importantly they were stars even in non racially related productions , they were overall true stars. There were a lot of great performers back then , Jeannie Pepper , Janet Jacme , Monique, Midori , anal queens even Today we have those mentioned plus Ana Foxxx and the veteran Misty Stone , Ana works randomply but had and still has the potential to be a star But I could mention some who are beautiful but less known Serena Ali (i can't believe how many don't know her) , Ivy Sherwood and a plethora of one and done starlets

Jezabel creates buzz whenever she does a scene in mainstream movies that would translate into celebrity stardom in porn in could translate into hits and viewers. She might be the only pornstar who does that besides maybe Jade Aspen.

You guys at just naming random black girls who happen to do porn. It doesn't make them stars except for Heather Hunter and Jada Fire. Edited by - rosco fuji on 8/24/2015 7:31:36 PM
A couple of those I mentioned had a 10 years old career , besides we're talking especially of black girls , those mentioned are all well known among them and among those who actually are consumers of porn with black girls, of course if you take into account all consumers including those who only buy white mainstream porn , maybe they are unknown , but then it'll be unfair to compare their star status out of their market. I didn't mention the Europeans here, but Lydia Chanel and Charlene Robben were superstars here , Jeannie Pepper too as she worked for ms Orlowsky
sadly I don't think so :( I think that the industry needs some really hot black girls, who does lots of anal, dps, daps, gangbangs etc. I've grown so tired of the fact that interracial is always a black man and a white woman, I think it's much hotter the other way around =)

^^most of what you're saying is a reach at best. They're just random performers who happen to be black and have been around for a while.
^So tell us oh mighty Rosco, what makes a performer a 'star'. We just want to know so that we can conform to your requirements(only those count since they're from you).

^ I'd say Skin Diamond was a black girl who reached "superstar" status in porn. Of course, she was mixed, but black nonetheless. In regards to what Rosco Fuji has been arguing, I tend to agree with what he's saying-just because you can rattle off a couple names from a given era doesn't mean that black girls "were big" during that time.

Now white women are flaunting big booties, guys use ghetto slang, titles are hip hop themed so it is the golden age of Black culture in porn but Black women are not profiting like they should.
Regardless of what one thinks of the "era" in which she performed, I think Rosco exaggerates when he calls Marie Luv just a "random perfomer who happened to be black and to have been around for a while".

Thank you. I don't know why that is so hard to understand. just because someone has a few box covers or has done a bunch of scenes, it doesn't necessary make someone a superstar or legendary, it just means they've done a bunch of scenes. No different than professional athletes that stick around 10-15 years. Yeah they had a good run, but they're journey men and will never see the HOF. If number of releases is a true measure alone, Daisy Marie should be at the top of everyone's list but most people will be like Who?

First, I'd say the true golden age of Black female stars was during the mid-2000s. Performers like Jada Fire, Jazmine Cashmere, Sinnamon Love, Ayana Angel, Carmen Hayes, Nyomi Banxxx, Marie Luv, Vanessa Blue etc. were true stars, each of them getting booked for scenes and box covers for multiple big-name studios for a solid stretch during the mid-2000s. And they weren't just getting booked for "ebony" movies, they were getting top billing right alongside White performers. Those names should satisfy Rosco Fuji's question as to whether there were ever any true Black stars. Second, to address the topic, this is absolutely far from a golden age for Black performers. As a Black man myself, the current state of Black female performers is completely disappointing for a multitude of reasons. 1. Each of the girls I mentioned above did everything: anal, DPs, everything. There aren't any current Black anal queens. For me, who's "no anal, no watch", I can't even comment on the performance-level of current Black performers because hardly any of them do anything outside of vanilla scenes. And the few who do anal and other things do it for low-rate studios that I don't watch and they don't get booked by the big-name companies. 2. During the 2000s there were multiple Black directors and producers. L.T., Justin Slayer, Alexander DeVoe, Diana DeVoe, Lex Steele, etc. were all directing for big-name studios and they were all committed to creating platforms for which Black performers can become stars. Nowadays it's pretty much just Mimefreak and Lex who are directing for big-name studios. The lack of Black directors plays a huge part in the lack of Black stars. 3. There is an incredible amount of Black performers who choose not to shoot scenes with Black male talent. I find this baffling, I don't know what goes into this decision. I have absolutely no problem with WM/BF scenes and movies, but as a Black man, a Black performer who for some reason refuses to shoot with Black male talent just upsets me (mainly because I don't understand the possible reasoning behind it) and it makes me not want to watch them at all. 4. This is mainly personal preference, but all of the girls I mentioned above (except for Marie Luv) had voluptuous body-types, which in my opinion helped contribute to their star-power. The last true Black star was Skin Diamond, and I've never watched one scene of hers because her body-type didn't appeal to me. Again, this is purely personal preference and I'm sure this might not matter to most people, but there aren't many Black performers nowadays who can even compare body-wise to the performers of the past. There are performers today like Ana Foxx, Teanna Trump, Cassidy Banks, and Lisa Tiffian who have caught my eye, but not one of them is a true star yet. Out of all the reasons I listed above, I think it really comes down to the lack of studios and directors committed to promoting a true Black star. I think it's up to us as fans to keep requesting more and more Black performers, not just for "ebony" movies, but for movies in general. Only then can we hope to return to the golden age of Black female stars.
What aspects define then a "star" according to Rosco? - Number of box covers: No - Number of scenes: No So what else then? Other statistical categories (e.g. awards etc.)? Or is it more emotional aka "I know a star when I see it"? According to your sports analogy, Hall Of Fame membership?
You ruled out Skin Diamond too, that's why it's legit to ask you what do you think a performer needs to be called star

No I'm not trolling, I'm speaking the truth. Guys were just throwing out random black females that happened to be doing porn and acting like they're something special. I'm saying they're not that special. The term Star gets tossed around too quickly. Most are just porn performers at best. The title of this thread mentions a "Golden Age" for black females. I'm saying no, because most if not all black performers, are just that, performers and not stars per se. Yeah, there are a few standouts, Jada Fire, maybe Skin Diamond, but are they game changers that will stand the test of time, meh! As far as being on the box covers, numerous porn sources have been quoted over time saying that box cover girls break off a slice for the director in exchange for the covers. As far as number of scenes shot, this doesn't qualify either as it's been proven that black females have been paid less than white girls, so if you have a 5 scene disk with 2 big names, the final 3 scenes are the B Listers that are little more than filler. As far as what makes a true porn star, it's easy. You know it when you see it. It's the "it" factor, a unique look, an enthusiasm, something a little different or eye catching, a willingness to go all out for a scene, it's something that makes you seek out more releases from that performer. It's the kind of performer that if you walked into a porn convention, you'll seek out immediately because you know the line will be long, then when you see how long the line is, you'll seek out lesser names as a time killer, then come back around to the true star. Examples of girls who have what I describe in the previous paragraph; Bonnie Rotten. Keri Sable, Alina Li, Sunrise Adams. Bonnie was a huge star the minute she was open for business. Unusual look, a do anything repertoire, and a true gusto, that created such a buzz immediately that she rocketed to the front to the line. Keri Sable hasn't been around in 10 years and people still talk about her and commiserate her departure. Alina Li had a very unique appeal was another that her abrupt departure had people literally crying on this site. Think back to when you saw Sunrise Adams for the first time in those Anabolic VHS tapes looking up into the camera ever so sweetly. You're thinking, this is a sweet looking girl with a smooth as honey southern drawl, then she blows 5 guys and swallows the baby batter. You're smitten right away. When was the last time you said anything like that about about any of those black girls?

^ Again, I'm in agreement. It's ridiculous how everyone is referred to as a "pornstar" nowadays. Ideally, the term should be reserved for those who are truly stars.

I would say you're actually a star when you transcend the medium. Jenna Jameson was a porn star not because she was a big deal in porn, but because she was a big deal outside of porn. Kim Kardashian is a reality TV star not because she was a big deal in reality TV, but because she was a big deal outside of reality TV Justin Bieber is a pop star not because he's a big deal in pop music, but because he's a big deal outside of pop music. LeBron James is a basketball star not because he's a big deal in basketball, but because he's a big deal outside of basketball. That of course is just my opinion and others will differ I'm sure.
First, thank you for taking the time and effort to answer this and explain your criteria/thoughts about what makes a "star". I appreciate that. I'm not disagreeing with a lot you said. All the statistical stuff is problematic, you explain that very well. Probably I myself would also think, there must be something beyond stats, something that I sense with my emotions/instinct as unique or special... (how I call that special quality, "star" or "superstar" or whatever, is not so important to me). So it's not because of disregard for your position, when I point out to one "problem" of it: if there are objective criteria (e.g. number of this & that, HOF membership etc.) you have a common ground for discussion with others. There is still room for different opinions, cause you can weigh these factors in different degrees and argue why one factor counts more or not. If it's mostly or all about the subjective "it factor", there's no common ground. It's either - or; either you see/feel it or you don't. If you see it for e.g. Alina Li and I don't, that's the end. Neither can I convince you that your subjective feeling is not correct, nor can you convince me about my subjective view that e.g. Marie Luv was a star. It would make no sense to try to argue about it. It's okay to "agree to disagree" at such a point, of course.

Rosco's very subjective criteria ( "You know it when you see it"? Seriously?) ultimately say nothing about who is "truly" a star. Here are the only objective criteria Rosco offers: 1. She has a unique look. 2. There are long lines to see her at porn conventions. All the rest of his criteria can be summarized as "Who's a "true" star? Why, whoever I believe to be one!" Where does that get us? To a place where Alina Li is a star, but Jada Fire and "maybe" Skin Diamond are merely "standouts." The words "true" and "truly" do not apply here.

No this is not the golden age of Black females or not yet anyway but when white women with big booties started selling, white guys starting getting penile implants and titles became hip hop oriented, IR became a leading genre, porn officially became Black. Black women fell off, disappeared, because if consumers could compare the two they would see that Whites were imitating Black people. This is now the age of Black culture in porn.
