Yet, along comes a movie like The Five Minute Kiss that, for once, does not cheat the consumer, and a conservative official wants to clamp down on people getting their money's worth. Well that was life (on Long Island, anyway) at the beginning of the 1970s. Now, anyone want to argue with the fact that we have it a lot better today? Even in other areas, life has gotten better. For example, according to the FBI, the number of murders in the U.S. per 100,000 people today is less than half what it was in 1980. That fact surprises people who have been numbed by 24 hour cable news coverage of every spectacular horror that takes place. So before I keep digressing, to return to the subject at hand, I'm very grateful to now be living at a time where we can all enjoy the work of folks like Jada Stevens, while legal officials are, for the most part, actually focusing on things that cause real harm.
