I ordered a DVD from Jaded about a month ago. I sent an email requesting information on its availibililty and received a prompt reply saying that they expected a shiopment within a few days. I placed the order and waited, and waited. Checking my order status their ETA on the movie keeps moving further and further into the future and now, after checking some old posts on this site, I have found that the movie has never even been released on DVD.

Does Jaded have a history of doing this sort of thing?

BTW the DVD was Cellar Dweller 2 and, yes, I am an idiot.

PS Jaded took the money for the DVD out of my account almost immediately without, it would appear, any intention of providing me with the product.

Any advice on what to do next?

It's probably more of an Extreme Associates problem than a Jaded problem. I would send them an e-mail requesting that they cancel your order and refund your money.

There have been a couple of occasions where Jaded has listed titles as being on DVD in error. While I also dislike companies deducting their fees before delivering the product, I agree with Bill; ask for a refund before giving them both barrels.

My understanding is there are a number of laws and credit card company regulations that restrict the charging of funds prior to the delivery or intended delivery of an item. Any company that accepts credit cards should know the rule regarding charging a card for a product that is not available for sale. Request a refund but feel free to unload both barrels at this type of practice.

tdp,

I have ordered from Jaded Video often and have found them to be courteous and honest -- if sometimes a bit careless. However, if you ask for a refund on an unshipped product, they will process it immediately. They are also excellent about fixing any mistakes they have made in filling orders.

I have found it especially useful to call Jaded Video over the telephone whenever I have a problem, and the customer service reps there have always been helpful.

Their toll-free telephone number is (888) 667-0690.

Thanks chaps

jaded replied immediately to my email, which was more or less a cut and paste of the first post in this topic, and have since refunded my money. Couldn't be more satisfied although I find it quite strange that they are listing for sale an item which will never seemingly be released.

It may have been an item that was announced and then never got released, I've run into that before, for instance a few stores listed a Caballero disc for Coed Fever a while ago but apparently the disc never came out.

I don't know if this was the case here, but I've seen several instances where stores got tripped up by different movies having the same title. Also, I think Flash has a good point.
