Adult film actress from California faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine after pleading guilty to intentionally failing to pay her federal income taxes. Federal prosecutors said Friday that 39-year-old Janine M. James, also known as Janine Lindemulder, of Huntington Beach, California, failed to pay more than $200,000 in taxes owed to the Internal Revenue Service. As part of her plea agreement, James admitted making a down payment on a $647,000 house in Eugene, and purchasing a new Jeep and recreational vehicle while knowing she owed the taxes. Sentencing was set for October 24 in U.S. District Court in Eugene. Maybe she will make more movies, I know there's been rants about 3 ready to go, but maybe she will come back for a while and stay.
Hopefully the courts will be lenient since she plead guilty and sentence her to community service. I would recommend that the judge have her do an anal scene in every movie, a couple of DPs and a scene with four guys!
I hope that she gets back on her feet soon, but if she does do some time in jail, I wonder what would happen to her situation with vivid (i.e. if she's signed with them, perhaps they have provisions that would allow them to either terminate the deal or just halt the duration while she's away?)
I doubt they signed her to a long term deal. It was probably X number of movies in exchange for the money she needs to pay off her taxes that no doubt have already been done since she pleaded guilty the other day.
I agree. When I look at all the things that have happened--investigation, indictment, return to So Cal, sexvids for Vivid, and a "plea agreement"--the chances are slim that Janine will spend jail time. Assuming she has a Tax Attorney representing her, stipulating no jail time would have been the Top Priority of his negotiations. The IRS uses the "example" approach to prosecutions (like Wesley Snipes and Janine). They single out a "name" in a profession where it may be easy for people to cheat on their taxes. They screw over the "name" as a warning to everyone else in the industry or profession. It was just Janine's bad luck to be the "name" they picked from the porn industry. Making her pay a lot of money achieves the IRS' goal--assuming that Janine (unlike Wesley Snipes) hasn't pissed someone in the IRS off.
I don't think it can really be called bad luck, just pay your taxes and they can't go and make an example of you.

I would think that a "morals" clause in a porn performers contract might be a bit hard to enforce. As for getting back on her feet...well sending her to a jail cell with a webcam should do the trick.

I think that standard response for most crimes people commit is why she did it "I didn't think I'd get caught." For some reason people only think somethings a crime if they are caught.
Years ago when I worked in restaurants I knew very few people that declared all of their tips, I'm sure it's common for dancers to do that as well. Also you can be held liable for the taxes of people you paid in cash as well.

What is a Fact is that Janine walked off the set--without completing the scene with Rocco. Beyond that... Janine says Rocco was un-professional, because he intentionally cut-off the tip of his condom; when they had previously agreed that he would wear one. Rocco doesn't deny cutting off the end of his condom, but "accuses" Janine of not being able to handle his hard fucking. (Should she?) Vivid tried to downplay the conflict (even on the BTS video that was included as an Extra on "Emperor"), and never officially supported their Contract Employee, Janine. Shortly thereafter Janine asked out of her contract with Vivid, and signed with Digital Playground--and appeared in "Pirates." Not likely. After Janine walked off the set during their first sex scene, they never reconciled during the rest of the shoot. Most of "Emperor" was shot in Europe (during the same trip that Paul Thomas made "Sextet")and Rocco came to the US to shoot his scene with Janine, plus several scenes for "Lexie & Monique Love Rocco". So, his time was pretty much booked, and he had little time (nor the inclination) to "make up" with Janine before flying back to the Continent.
Sucks about the $$ she's gotta pay. Does anyone know where I can get Hi-res pics, with the dark hair and tats so I can use them for desktop wallpaper? Cheers
