Nice to hear from you Mason!! Hope the recovery is going well and I can't wait to see your new dvd when it comes out next month!! BTW great fucking cover! As for PXP I have enjoyed so many of their flicks so far and look forward to enjoying many more. I hope women are enjoying them as the girls in the flicks do a superb job of giving themselves over to their scenes, the Selena Silver scene in Fresh New Faces is a good example, Michelle Wild in Euro Girls Never Say No Vol 1 is another!! Keep it up!!
It's not too hard to figure out. Ever since Candida Royale carved out a little nitch for herself by making porn "for women, from a woman's point of view" there's been a recognition that women represent a huge untapped market for pornography. Of course Jewel is going to say "we make some films targetted at women." Certainly her titles are glossier, more "newbie" friendly than something like Backdoor Bitches 8, and now everyone who reads that page and is just wishing somewhere someone is making the kind of porn they wish they could find will run out and rent a Jewel video and see if it does it for them. And for some of those people, a Jewel flic will be just the ticket.
Hmmm... I guess I was just surprised because this is the first time I've seen a PXP director comment that some of their films are targeted for the female audience. Or maybe it was the journalist who made that observation, not Jewel, since it's not part of Jewel's direct quote?
I'm not being critical. I'm just asking. I actually have no doubt that movies like Dirty Girlz appeal to a segment of the female audience. The implication that they appeal to a broad range of female viewers, however, does raise a tiny question in my mind.
From lunacy's review of Dirty Girlz: "A pretty good flick if you don’t mind fake lesbianism and dig a little rough, degradation stuff." But see, that's a huge part of what's been particularly turning me off about porn over this whole past year. No, I don't like fake lesbianism, and no, I don't like degradation. As I remarked on the recent Striking Out poll, what I'm really looking for lately is more of a tender appreciation of masculine beauty. I'm not the only one who's expressed that view point.
To each her own. But I don't think it was out of line for Rob to ask for a little clarification concerning which titles are specifically meant to be appealing for women. Actually, if Jewel and PXP truly do have something meant for me, I want to know about it, because I'd sincerely be delighted to purchase their product.
The only porn my wife is interested in is gay porn. In her view it's the only smut that even remotely has a clue about what makes a man sexy. Also you never have to worry about fake lesbianism, fake boobs, fake orgasms (but you do see plenty of fake blonde hair, nothing's perfect.)
I think this points to a fundemental problem in porn industry; the whole idea of "porn aimed at women" or "porn aimed at men". While it's true that it's mostly men who are avid consumers of what's available, men who aren't particularly interested in mainstream porn far outnumber those who are avid consumers. At best "porn aimed at men" would better be called "porn aimed at men who like this kind of porn".
From this misaprehension we get "porn aimed at women" which is mostly a reaction against "porn aimed at men". It's not too surprising that most "porn aimed at women" doesn't do much for most women.
This leaves people like you and me saying "I'd really like to see some porn that I'd like to see," completing the whole snake eating its tail circle. We get more porn aimed men that not that many men (or women) like, and porn aimed at women that not very women (or men) like.
I've long giving up aiming my porn at anyone. I make the porn I make because no one else seems to want to do it for me. Of course this approach doesn't work either. I find it nearly impossible to beat off to something I've created myself.
Thanks, Tony. Those are valid and well-articulated points. I can't say I disagree with any of them.
Good for you, and I hope you keep it up! (I love your sense of irony, BTW, in the nickname you've chosen for yourself.)
Hmmm... if I get much more desperate, I have a feeling I'll eventually become a producer, as well. Fortunately, I've been able to order a bunch of male solo discs this month, which should keep me pacified 'til Christmas.
I complain a lot that the low cost/high quality of video production and editing equipment has opened the floodgates to a lot of idiots, but the plus side is that someone like you really could produce exactly the porn you want, at relatively low cost, provided you've got the time, patience, and some degree of native talent.
Most of my equipment is professional grade, but I make my living with my gear so a little extra convience or toughness pays off in the long run, but there's very little I do that couldn't be done with a consumer grade 3-chip camera and a Macintosh using iMovie and iDVD.
I second that. Go for it Grrl! Just be sure to include some good looking straight male masturbation. Yeehaa!

Well to answer all your questions I'm 27 and don't rush me just yet by thinking I'm older even though I'm wise beyond my years unlike most pornographers. I never said I made porn aimed at anyone she asked me what titles would women enjoy watching so I told her it's that simple. I'm a female director I don't care if your male or female I just hope the viewer can enjoy my work and the talent I choose for them to watch. I always try to get beautiful women because I feel that's what everyone would want to see no matter what gender you are. And to see a hot girl get smothered by a huge cock and loads of cum is always a plus!!!
I hope she does a good job. My wife and I enjoy sex and like to watch porn. But does anyone target couples? Really look at the women always a nice picture on the box cover, but look at her in the movie. Anyway the men don't really turn women on. I don't want to mention any male names, but some of these guys need to look at their work. Watching themselves would make them seek another line of work.

I agree I don't look at the men so much but the women to me are #1. I'm a woman and if a particular girl get's me going I know the audience at home will be turned on as well because let's face it I'm pretty jaded so it takes a pretty special girl to do it for me and I don't put anyone in my movies unless there is something about her that does it for me. So my taste must be working because for the most part everyone likes the girls I use.
No one can fault you for that Jewel. Let's face it, men make up the majority of your audience, and you do a good job making them happy. I think that females who actually *buy* porn must be a very tiny percentage of consumers.
Willbfun, you don't have to name names, there is a severe and obvious lack of hunkage. I think the only two guys in porn who do anything for me are Joel Lawrence and Toni Ribas, but partly because they also appear to have some personality and enjoy getting the girl off as well.

Yes Toni is really sexy I just used him in my new movie I just finished called XXX Platinum Blondes and wow he is great I want to do a scene with him soon. I think a handful of guys are really a turn on and he is one for sure. I make porn for everyone and if you like it you like it if it's not your thing there is plenty of porn to go around so I'm sure there is something for everyone. I have so many diffrent titles because I try to appeal to a wide audience.
Dirty Girlz for fans of Lesbian Sex
Wild on Sex fans of sex in diffrent locations for the most part appeals to everyone.
Sinful Asians fans of Asian women
Interracial Lust fans of Interracial movies
XXX Platinum Blondes fans of blonds and appeals to men or women.
Wet Brunett's fans of dark haired beauties for any gender.
Why the fuck is everyone trying to make 27 sound old?
Sue -just turned 27

Well I'm not doing so bad for a young pup hehe!!! And for the Red head line I am in the works of not to worry but I need a title what do you suggest I want something catchy. I was thinking of Fire Bush???? But I think it could be better.
As far as "Code Red" goes I like the title but it might get you into trouble with Pepsi, being it has the same name as one of their soft drinks.
The title is really irrelevant in this particular genre, you could probably make even more money if you hashed your movie up and used only one redhead per film giving each one their own boxcover.
Call the series "Rubies in the Rough," and every redhead fan will purchase or rent each film.
