Fuckers who are so old they can hardly figure out how to use a dvd player never mind get on the internet. The physical product (dvd's) is dying, and fast! They have no customers under the age of 40...zero! That tells you where dvd's are heading...to the fuckin' grave just like most of the brick and mortar stores customers because they are so damn old! Other thing I've noticed is that dvd sales and rentals have declined in such a massive way that toys and sell throughs are the only thing keeping these stores afloat. Sell throughs are dvd's that are older titles and still sealed that have never been viewed. Some deals the stores are offering is buy 4 discs for $10 get one free, that type of shit. I talk to the owners and the clerks working there are they are depressed as shit. Counting the days before the business collapses and they shut down. The companies that have a good handle on the gonzo market like Evil Angel, Jules Jordan and Elegant Angel need to concentrate on their web sites in a serious way. Make sure that EVERYTHING currently being released has a downloadable full HD MP4 option. Get the old stuff released as well and upconvert it to MP4's, even if it's not 1080p, make it available on a MP4 format and make sure the quality is good. If you have multiple directors that own their own stuff like Evil Angel and Jules Jordan do, they need to get all of their directors under one umbrella for the web site, it has to be done. Cut deals with those guys (and girls). There's nothing more frustrating as a consumer or fan of something to find that the directors movies you release on dvd aren't available on your web site as well. You have to be able to offer that. Why? because people feel like they are being ripped off if you don't. Not only that but with the economy being the way it is people can't afford to be members of 5 or 6 different web sites, they just can't. And I know Jules mentioned here that he doesn't like releasing an enire dvd worth of scenes online all at once because he wants us to buy dvd's? Dude you have to be realistic. You say a dvd should be watched with some continuity. The problem with that argument is that none of your movies have a storyline, it's gonzo. Every scene in a movie is completely unrelated to the other scenes, so why would it even matter LOL? Downloading and memberships is where it's at and if a company leaves the impression on a customer that they aren't getting what they feel is a good deal or quality updates you will lose them. Evil Angel and Brazzers seem to have their shit together as much as possible when it comes to their web sites. Kink ahs their shit together in a serious way as well. One update every week, brand new shit. Easy to navigate sites and everything is HD MP4's. Others seem to be severely lacking and will be left behind. I have said this before and I will say it again. Porn desperately needs an itunes type web site. On itunes you can download any song you want from pretty much any artist, they are all there regardless of which record company they are with and you pay per song or per album. Porn needs an itunes type site for scenes and movies. Somebody get a network up where you can download any scene or movie from the best companies. Evil Angel, Elegant Angel, Jules Jordan, Kink, Brazzers, etc. You pay per scene or per movie. People are sick of driving to a store to rent, they are sick of paying for shipping or dealing with defective discs, or customs problems. It's a solution different directors for different companies and the business being fractured in general. if your shit is good it'll sell by way via downloads, if it isn't it won't. [Link] |

I take my hat off to JJ for doing this. I also take my hat off to BangBros for remastering a lot of their older stuff. Any website that actually goes the extra mile like this deserves business. I also just finished a subscription with Kink.com (specifically the Kink Archives Site). Kink is also in the process of remastering/re-encoding their older stuff. Also I think to use the word remaster is slightly misleading. I don't really know how you 'remaster' content originally shot on digital. Because unlike analog digital doesn't degrade obviously. What I think they really mean is 're-encoded' from the crappy mpeg2 codec (WMV etc) into the superior mpeg4 codec. Also maybe they bump up the corresponding bit rate. But re-mastering in the sense that a 35mm Hollywood movie is remastered is incorrect. [Link] |

If it was shot in 4:3 just leave it in 4:3. Nothing wrong with high-bitrate 4:3 in the MP4 codec. Nothing whatsoever. Changing 4:3 into 16:9 is ruining the whole scene IMO. Unwatchable. I didn't think of manipulating the colors. But that I guess is under the umbrella of remastering. Increasing the bit-rate substantially as you suggest will help dramatically. Also using the MPEG4 codec as opposed to the old-fashioned and far less efficient MPEG2 codec. I don't know about increasing the FPS up to 60FPS. I think most porn from USA websites is at 29.997FPS. But I've been reading that 60FPS will be the ideal FPS with Ultra HD 4K 2160p content. Also I think 60FPS playback is an issue. Not many software players for PC or Mac actually support playback at true 60FPS. They can play a 60FPS file no problem but what you're actually truly seeing is 30FPS on your monitor. Using a filter or some other post processing effect that interpolates the frames on the fly would probably be where most of the issues occur because it would be more memory intensive (for example if someone created a special a process that forces a frame doubling it could be problematic for those without the hardware to do the work and it would only get worse at larger file sizes and higher resolutions.) The other option here is to do the frame interpolation during the encoding so that those interpolated frames are baked into the new video file. This way the additional processing is not used up on making the frames on the fly (even though it does seem to take more memory for smooth playback.) I'm not an expert in this stuff either so I would welcome an experts opinion on this as well. Here's an example: Bra Busters 3 (Jayden Jaymes) 720p (@60 fps) MP4 29:37 filesize = 904.5 mb Bra Busters 3 (@60 fps) To The Limit (Asa Akira, scene 3) 720p (@29.97) MP4 29:11 filesize = 888.6 mb I'm not sure if BB3 was shot in 29.97 and then re-encoded to 60 or if its shot in 60. That would be a question for JJ. But the comparison is there. The reason why i suggest 60 fps for the old content is that smooth playback should not be an issue since the original dv files aren't huge bitrate/file sizes to begin with. Playback should be very smooth and wouldn't need any extra memory if you are already getting smooth playback with 1080/720 HD files. VLC does just fine. What you would probably end up with is something that is better than SD but not truly HD (but would look great none the less with the addition of the new frames.) I would guess that the process by which they can do this has been improved and simplified over the years since it was introduced. I think your date for the cross-over period is pretty spot on. There might be some videos too that were shot in standard DV that were recorded in widescreen (still 480 squeezed so that the proportions are reproduced correctly in 16:9). [Link] |

JJ is committing the worst thing a company trying to sell a product to it's consumers can do: NOT LISTENING TO IT'S CUSTOMERS. JJ, they are telling you they like your stuff, they are telling you they want to be members of your site, they are telling you they want all of the scenes from the DVD's and to give it to them in order and in a timely fashion. Every other site does this. Listen to your customers, otherwise you will lose them. I for one love JJ's stuff, but I have not joined yet and will not until I get word that JJ has changed this idiotic policy of not releasing every scene from every movie, and in order. I have plenty of other options: Evil Angel, Elegant Angel, Brazzers, KinK, ZTOD, Naughty America. The options are endless. They will get my money, JJ will not until something changes over there. The download speed at the moment is a real disappointment: it needs 12 hours (!) to download a 2,5 GB scene. Download Speed: 60 KB/s! For example: Download from Evil Angel, Brazzers or most of the other sites is only a few minutes for scenes with the same GB size. You see: I have a very fast internet connection.
