I follow her on Twitter and just scrolled by this. I'm not the kneejerk overly offended type who subscribes to outrage culture at every perceived slight, so when I see stuff like this, at first I assume it's only ribbing. Maybe the person is friends or has a personal rapport and they're just down like that. Without knowing the relationship of the parties involved in an exchange, I think it's presumptuous, even offensive, to assume the worst first.
Still, one wonders what the meaning of this is. It appears to be an outing or attempt at exposing someone or catching them in a lie? I had never heard of this Martinez guy. I'm not sure if Julie's tweet here is a response to any insults directed at her or what could have possibly prompted this. I still would have to assume she didn't just randomly decide to attack someone out of hatred rooted in bigotry.
But it still could speak to the industry's concern (however reasonable) about performers crossing back and forth between straight and gay porn.
As many have asked regarding the practice of females who apparently avoid working with black males in porn, one has to also ask regarding this issue, in which other industry or field would this be tolerated?
My instincts tell me Julie is not homophobic, and indeed, maybe she did bust Martinez for being deceitful or betraying the trust of coworkers if not Jules herself. Still, it's not hard to imagine the world of hell a popular musician or actor or politician would catch if they publicly used that pejorative.
