And have to say I'm extremely disappointed. It doesn't even come close to the first one. It's basically 3 very long scenes and one short Bella/Rocco scene at the end. Everything in between is small 2-3 minutes oral or teasing that ends abruptly and goes to something else that gets started and ends abruptly that goes onto something else that gets started and ends abruptly, get the idea? I have no clue what Evil Angel was tying to attempt with this, frustrate the viewer? I loved the original Fashionstas, but this second installment doesn't even come close. I found it has lots of sizzle and very little steak with some strange choices along the way. For instance, Katsumi starts a scene with Nacho, then another girl comes in with a guy and Nacho disappears to run a camera. Why take Nacho out of the scene and replace him with a lesser performer just when things were getting good? I don't get it. An orgy that looks about to get started, the oral starts and then it's over, no fucking, just moved onto something else. This type of thing is prevalent throughout the movie. Anyway, some of you will love it and some won't, I didn't. There's some cool clothes and visuals but IMO it falls way short of the first one. This movie sorely misses a woman lead caracter with a strong personality like Taylor St. Clair in the first one. This just seemed to me like another Tanya Hyde type art fuck flick that doesn't deliver in the end. Have fun checking it out anyway. To each his own.

It's called thumbing your nose at the raincoater. They will find that the artsy/fartsy crowd just doesn't spend much on straight porn.
I think the most endearing thing about raincoaters is how [invalid URL removed]personally they take it when someone makes something that doesn't appeal to them. It's sweet, in a kind of pathetic way.

I just watched The Fashionistas 2 last night. I can say I enjoyed it due to the fact that it didn't follow the formula that most porn features do. I would say that it has a theatrical value, which you (for the most part) cannot do in a mainstream film. Theatre and film are incredibly different mediums, and somehow Stagliano finds a way to seamlessly create a symbiotic relationship between the two. I haven’t finished watching it yet…I couldn’t wait to see the orgy scene! Yes I may have a biased opinion here because it is my first film, and my first orgy. One could say my sexuality blossoms in that very scene, so yes… I have a different relationship to it for this very reason. The average viewer shouldn’t expect the same film that the first one was; a great sequel does not duplicate the original, it expands on the characters and concepts while becoming a brand new groove. Let’s not forget that this will not be the final chapter of The Fashionistas 2!

I was afraid of this. I was a little upsed and very curious to why an official trailer didn't get released before the release date.
I know I'm not gonna be so into the orgy thing. But I was looking forward to good one-on-one scenes, with a lot of attention to the ass. If the teases are only 2-3 minutes long and the rest of the scene is just average sex, there won't be anything special about the flick.
I already ordered my copy of F2 and I will be fuckin pissed if this movie is a waste!

There was no official trailer released because one doesn't exist yet. John was editing the actual movie to the very last second, then for the week we were polishing the DVD, he was editing the mini-trailer for Fashionistas Safado: Berlin, then dealing with a technical glitch in the movie video which got solved in time for DVD replication. Yesterday, he went to Las Vegas to oversee his stageshow and have all the meetings he hasn't had time for in the last month. And today he's sleeping. There was ALWAYS the intention of having a full trailer up before the street date - it just didn't happen.
very well said Sasha i feel that some people will have real high exspectaions then some are let down . i like what you said girl it holds true to almost all movies in and out of porn
i would also have to agree with sasha's comments, although waiting on my copy of the movie to arrive here in australia, it seems john has been brave to venture into something new with this sequel, rather than staying in the same secure rut of the first film. Expectation is the killer of all things in life, i find the most enjoyable experiences are those that are spontaneous rather than waiting for months for an event to happen. I will warn myself to watch this film with a clean slate and just forget about the first film, and watch fashionistas:saffado for what it is, a different film made three years down the track.

Nacho cums in what was always intended to be a BJ-only scene with Katsumi. He then tells her to "get back to work" with her model. and when she does a good job, she is rewarded with a place to rest... Jazz Duro's face.
i agree that FASH 2 was rushed to get into AVN VOTING. And i wanted to enjoy this because i love buttman and respect what he brought porn and the standard he sets as an artist. PLUS I DON'T WANT TO SHIT ON THE EVIL ANGEL CREW, i know they worked really hard on the project.
BUT... i feel the sex scenes were average compared to buttman/rocco combo. The orgy scene was a let down. all those great performers! Maybe it was the editing, i don't know, but even Fashionistas One big s/m group scene was hotter.
And what the hell? Belladonna (the best thing about FAshionista) was just a benchwarmer, who got in a few seconds and sat out the rest of the game.
I will still buy the BOX SET, because i love evil angel.
BUT MAYBE, Buttman's students have surpassed the teacher.
EVERHARD, MALONE, BELLADONNA, JAZZ,VIDAL, ROCCO, JORDAN, AND MANUEL, all have great porn under their belt. ALL THEIR RECENT PORN were ROUGHER AND SEXIER then Fashionista 2.
No way. I haven't ordered mine yet, but I definitely will buy this regardless of the reviews or the opinions stated on this board. Whether it's better or worse than the first, it will still be a classic in porn, and worth owning if for no other reason than that. The top-of-the-line cast, the renowned producer, the style of the movie, and the effort that went into this production already set this apart from the pack without even seeing it. Whether or not the sex scenes are where some want them to be, I think this DVD probably belongs in any porn enthusiast's collection.
I find people's impressions interesting, but I would hate to be limited to anyone else's notion of what porno should be. I'd hate to be limited to MY notions. The cast and costumes alone would compel my interest, even if it were called "Trash Can Tarts" and directed by Jim Bob Nobody.
I watched this over the weekend and sadly have to agree with many of the comments already in this thread...it's a big disappointment. Not horrible by porn standards, but nowhere near the original.
Those who have said the movie was rushed onto DVD for awards qualification are spot-on...the lack of bonus material on the DVDs seems to proove that.
This is basically HALF a movie. It wasn't a good idea to split it up into two parts, and although Part 1 is over 4 hours in length, it's desperately in need of editing. The first half hour or so is nothing more than highlights of The Fashionistas stage show...nice to see, but it didn't need to take up THAT MUCH running time.
The Jenna Haze/Rocco/Gianna threesome is the highlight of the movie...however, there's not much else worth seeing. Even the orgy scene left me rather limp, and the Belladonna/Rocco coupling never goes anywhere (she quits)...although I'm presuming they'll team up for more in Fashionistas: Berlin.
Don't like the sound of Belladonna only being a benchwarmer that's the main reason for me picking up this movie . I'm still going to get it but might wait for the box now though.
I am pretty sure Tricia said sometime ago that Bella's character wasn't going to be a major character this time out. I have not seen the movie yet but am curious about it. Katsumi is always so good on screen and also seeing Sasha Grey in an early scene will be interesting.

It would have been so much safer for John to make a non-Fashionistas movie. People would have still compared it as a "John Stagliano feature" but it wouldn't have had to be exactly like the first Fashionistas to make people happy.
There are indeed no video extras other than the trailer for Fashionistas Safado: Berlin on this DVD. That was always the plan. I've already edited HUGE pieces of behind-the-scenes which are all ready to go. However, I hate boxsets that simply duplicate extras which were already gotten on the original release. I also hate boxsets which DON'T have all the extras that were on the original. Thus, my decision to wait for the boxset for ALL extras (keep reading to find out about the redemption offer for people who buy both).
For those of you who plan on getting the boxset, you won't be disappointed. And for those of you who have gotten or ordered Fashionistas Safado: The Challenge, I highly encourage you to go into it watching it as a standalone movie, not a replica of Fashionistas 1 which it was never meant to be. Also rest assured that there is a proof of purchase inside The Challenge which can be paired with the proof of purchase that will be inside the boxset, and sent in for a redemption offer from Evil Angel. We are in talks with some video stores and distributors and online retailers about being the middle-guy in this, but we will honor the redemption from individual end-consumers also.
hmmm...maybe this disappointment is like the usual trilogy problem of the middle film not concluding the story...as it is the middle film! maybe when the third is out evryone will love the whole thing? could be this oneis more teasey and the last one is all action? is that possible...i am defo gonna get it still...
I know Bella wasn't going to have a big part this time around. Bella said so back in April on her forum . I just want at least one hot scene of her . I guess I will find out for myself when i pick it up .
I'm also extremely dissapoint with this. As a comparison to the first its laughable and as a stand alone movie its pretty average.
Another thing that drives me mad is the ghosting picture quality. No studio seems to be able to understand the use of 24P cameras and how to make them look proper on conversion to NTSC. The only studio who do seem to know what they are doing is Digitial Playground.
I guess all the proper skilled DVD Authors are working for Hollywood.
What you (and others) eroneously refer to as 'ghosting' is in fact a phenomenon that can be found in any high-motion footage presented in an interlaced television signal, which includes standard 30i NTSC video, and any 24 fps source (film of video) that is converted to NTSC by adding pulldown–and that included most Hollywood movies. I could pull a dozen non-porn DVDs out my library and find interlace artifacts on any of them.
24fsp footage (from either film or 24P video acquistion) can be flowed through a non-pulldown image chain into a 24P DVD, but almost no one uses the 24fps capabilities of the DVD standard.
If you don't care for the motion signature of the frame-rate/shutter-speed/pulldown cadence in F2 or any other DVD, fine. But you should learn a little more about the process before suposing to offer technical critisism.
That's still no excuse for not doing an anamoprhic transfer...especially since Evil Angel has done it on previous releases shot in the widescreen format. One can only hope the 5-disc version is anamoprhic.
Transfer? I was under the impression that F2 was shot on video. Tricia?
In any case, yes, it seems odd. If F2 was shot 16:9, it's hard to imagine why you wouldn't want to do an anamophic widescreen DVD. I don't know why anyone would do a hardburned letterbox anymore.

skronker - yes... it will be 5 discs.
3 discs: Fashionistas 2 and Fashionistas 3. 1 disc: bonus disc of extras similar to the one that was on Fashionistas 1. 1 CD disc: the soundtracks of Fashionistas 2 and 3. we're working out the logistics on that though, cause it's more than 80 minutes of music.
That Z1 has a really idiosyncratic approach to 24fps. On the Z1 the "24P" frame is a reverse pulldown dirritive of the camera's 30i mode, much like the old Magic Bullet or SwissFX recipes for converting 30i video to 24fps. Unlike the DVX100, you can't ever get to a non-interlaced 24fps image chain with the Z1.
My DP has a boner for the Varicam, and some pretty nice things to say about its baby brother, the DVX200.

"Wild Goose Chase Pt. 2" starring Velicity Von and Sasha Knox would have sold 100,000 units minimum. And at 1/10 the cost of this mistake.
well, since I wound up giving away both copies of Fashionistas (VHS + DVD) as loans that became "gifts," it's actually smart for me to jump on the single copy now, since I'll need another one by the time the box is available. Plus, I can't wait to see Sasha Grey make her debut. Plus, tease is about 1 hex more likely to get me off than actually watching people fuck these days. (Reverse raincoat syndrome!)
I understand Tricia's response to the "mistake" comment. Reviews and even opinions are welcome but once it is pretty much just name calling I stop reading as well...F2 should be at my doorstep today or tomorrow.
I haven't seen this yet, should in the next couple days.
One thing I know without seeing it, is that Tricia and John worked their asses off on this.
I am so sick of the interchangeable porn that is all shot with the same stars in the same outfit in the same house. No matter what, this will be a nice change.
I applaud that they try to do something different and special. It is very obvious that Evil Angel/Tricia do everything they can to give us great smut.
That is why Evil Angel comprises 90% of my collection.
Keep up the great work guys!!!!
PS this is not to bash anyone who has criticized, just my 2 cents.
There's a pretty long tradition art critisism of using cutting language when rendering a negative verdict. Of course it's fun to be on the receiving end, especially when you've really put yourself into something. But it's all in the game, yo.
I've yet to see this, as it hasn't arrived at my shop yet. Still, I hope to view it in the context of the entire Fashionistas spirit. I see the Fashionistas as an auteur franchise. If it realizes the filmmakers' artistic vision and the cast and crew are proud of it, it's a success in its own right. If it arouses the viewer and spurs him or her to orgasm, either while viewing it, or while building on the fantasy in their own imaginations, then it's a successful work of pornography.
That said, I will reserve personal judgment until I've had the opportunity to watch it uninterrupted.
