There is no way to prevent peoples from saying the most hurtful things when you allow everyone access to your feed. banning the trolls only means that you won't get more messages from that person but you will still have read what they wrote and worse trolls feed upon each other so they seem to enjoy saying more hurtful things once they know they have hit a sore point. The only solution would be for performers to only allow friends and true fans access to their feed but that basically renders the social media obsolete as a marketing tool and I think this is the primary reason why a performer uses Twitter and similar social media's.
