Katja definitely has the quantity, working an almost freakish amount of scenes. However, prolific does not necessarily equal best. It is the fact that her scenes are always hot and of high quality that she deserves at least a nomination. I am not a huge Katja Kassin fan, but I recognize how hot a porn star she is. If Lauren Phoenix won it last year, Katja Kassin could definitely win it this year.

BTW, when Katja was newer to the U.S., and still learning American colloquialisms, she came home one day and in a serious tone said to me: "Guess what? As for all the females I've seen named in this thread so far....

Katja Kassin - I don't think anybody would be upset if she won.

Monica Sweetheart - I don't think this was nearly as strong of a year for her as past years, but looking back and seeing she has never won "Female Performer of the Year" OR "Best New Starlet" was quite a shock. The last 3 winners mentioned above & Nikita Denise for Female Performer, but no Monica Sweetheart!? After loosing her friend I think it would be nice for her to win.

After those 2 is where my disagreeing with all of you begins....

Sandra Romain - Please! If that happened what little bit of meaning that award has left would be gone. After the last 4 years it's barely hanging on by a thread.

Melissa Lauren - Nice young woman, but I think she had a stronger year last year. I have a feeling next year may be her year.

Jada Fire - WHAT!? I nearly choked on my sprite when I read that name. I'm just saying don't award somebody because the market they are in has lost a lot of it's quality talent. This would be like the asian girls leaving the industry except for Miss Kitty and giving her the "Best Big Boobs" award because she is the only asian girl getting shot.

I'm going to suggest some American girls. They might not have taken a baseball bat up the ass or did 400 films this year, but I think they should be up for consideration....

Flower Tucci , Eva Angelina , Jenaveve Jolie, Haley Paige , and last but not least I've already posted saying it's clear to me this should be Janine's year.

I have no clue what you mean by the last 4 years winners somehow being unworthy. I would have been happier with Belladonna winning instead of Aurora and Ashley, but all three rank among my favorite female porn stars ever. In my opinion, Katja Kassin has been the best, all-around, porn performer over the past three years, and every year that goes by that she does not win recognition as being at the top in her field, continues an injustice.

From top to bottom, soup to nuts, across all genres and fetishes, I believe that Katja is the most versatile performer working, and her fan appeal across the porn world is legendary. She is strikingly beautiful. She is demure, yet nasty. She has given some animalistic, almost primal performances. Her energy and enthusiasm is apparent in every scene, and no matter how big or how small a production she is involved in, she never seems to mail a performance in. All of her performances are stroke worthy, and some are Hall of Fame worthy.

Then, when you add the legendary regard with which she seems to be held by her partners, peers, co-workers, and other industry personnel, it all adds up to almost the perfect porn star. Yes, other girls have shown themselves to be very nice girls and quality people aside from their on-screen activities, but in my years of following porn, I have never seen so many hard-bitten, calloused, "seen it all", porn industry people, go out of their way to remark and comment on just what a special talent and special person Katja is to work with and be around.

There are other performers, Sandra Romaine among them, who have given some absolutely incendiary performances this year. There are others who have returned to the scene and flashed very brightly, Flower Tucci , this year. But I don't think they, or anyone else, can boast the breadth of performance, quality in all aspects and broad-based appeal that Katja can. From a personal standpoint, Katja is the only girl that can make me watch specific fetishes or porn activities that I don't particularly care for, simply by her participation in the project. She is that good.

I was disappointed for Katja , but NOT uncomfortable, with the Lauren Phoenix selection last year. Lauren was an understandable and worthy choice. The Ashley Blue selection told me that non-traditional standards of beauty had it's place in the porn world, and outstanding performance was outstanding performance, no matter what kind of package it came in. The Aurora Snow selection, I still don't get, but that was basically Katja's first big year, so her opportunity for industry wide recognition of that magnitude probably wasn't the best.

But that's not the case now. Katja is, and has been, at the top of her game for some time now. Her scenes are legendary. She is the ultimate headliner. She is the queen of boxcover appeal. And she is the nicest girl in porn. The fans know it. Her peers know it. It's time for the industry to recognize it.

As for the past winners, here are MY thoughts....

Nikita Denise - I've never met her personally, so I can't speak of her personality. Though I ask what did she do with the "Top Female" title? It's clear she did very little and dropped off. She comes back here or there, but will never be back to a "Top Female" status.

Aurora Snow - Same as Nikita I've never met her, so no personality comment. Though I ask the same question. What did she do after winning such a title? She made strange contract choices then disappeared and like Nikita has made brief comebacks, but will never see "Top Female" status again.

Ashley Blue - This vote is mind boggling. Why would a awards group give an award to a female that is so proud of being nasty to everyone she meets? Is that what AVN thinks the industry should be represented by?

Lauren Phoenix - Oddly enough I think she is the most visually attractive of the 4, but her treatment of people is not much better than Ashley in my experience. Also like the 1st 2 what has she done with the title this year? Not a whole lot. The only person that I can see that did well with her winning the award is her "business partner".

Where are Monica Sweetheart , Belladonna , Savanna Samson , Venus , etc. etc. those years?

I think AVN and it's voters should take into consideration when they vote. More than "Who took the most cock?", "Who was in the most films?", "Who was the most obnoxious on film?(ignoring genuine sexual heat)", or "Who had the gimmick this year?". AND start considering "Who's name was most on peoples minds in a positive way?", "Who is attractive enough to end up on box covers the next year with the [AVN Female Performer of the Year] on it?", "Who is locked in to the industry and clearly not going anywhere?(meaning they aren't going to let the title go up their nose OR they aren't going to go back to their home country squandering the title)", "Who was the star of and carried the biggest & best film of the year?", and last but not least "Who will in the next year represent porn well.(Being out there, keeping their name active, treating people they meet well, & just being somebody it's easy to say "that's the Female Performer of the Year" AKA Top Female)
