Has anyone had problems with Lase's Edge?

I recently ordered some DVDs from them.At the time, they said all the titles I wanted were available.Shortly after I confirmed the purchase, they sent me an e-mail saying the DVDs were not in stock and are now back ordered.

Is this common practice? I surely hope not, as that is misleading the customer.

What do you guys think I should do?

I usually order very recent/new titles and never have any problem with delivery to England.

However I ordered an older dvd a few months back and it was 'backordered' for about two weeks before it was sent on. They 'back order' stuff when they are basically out of stock I think, so you have to wait for them to get the DVD in before they can send it out to you. - so basically it is common practice.

Which dvd's did you order? Are they old-ish titles? how long have you been waiting since you got the email saying they were 'backordered'?

personally i think they are a great outfit and very helpful and I've never had a problem with them. I've not heard any negative things about them as a whole to be honest.

snowden porn,

Thank you for your reply. The DVDs I ordered were not old titles--all released within the last couple of years,I think.

But what I find objectionable is the fact that they misled me by saying the titles were in stock when I placed the order, but in fact they didn't have them.

Do all the DVD vendors do that? Is that common practice?

Is it too late to cancel the order? (I have ordered using my credit card.)

Lasersedge are in teh process of updating their website which should include the ability to see whether a title is in-stock or not.

i know where you're coming from when you say they misled you. Its frustrating because you actually think its in stock then you get an email telling you its backordered which means having to wait.

If you really do want to cancel the order - its probably best to email sales@lasersedge.com

They are very helpful (as regard to your credit card - i don't think they charge you until they actually get the backordred title in which is very good of them)

i don't shop with anyone else but i think there are some sites i.e. Fivestar which has a system that tells you if teh item is in stock or not.

Thanks for your order, however I think you misunderstood our current site, it does not list stock but rather a list of stuff we carry/can get. If you would like to email me directly at orders@lasersedge.com I can let you know what items were actually "backordered" and which items are currently being held for you. The new site (which) hopefully will go live sometime next week will indicate expected availability, the actual stock count is still being worked on as we have to figure out how to merge our retail store system into our web system and are having some troubles. But once the order is placed there will be a status of what is IN STOCK and what is BACKORDERED. Allowing the customer to make the decision whether to wait for the backorder or go ahead and ship the IN STOCK items. Once we get the stock status fixed we will show actual current stock status'.

Thanks for your order and please email me so I can further assist you.

I also hope their "In Stock" situation is cleared up soon.

In my most recent order, they shipped 3 of the 4 titles, but the one remaining one was listed as "SOLD OUT". I asked them about this and they said that they didn't know if/when they would be getting the title (Taboo 2) back in. They stated

"a sold out title is currently not available and is not in stock with the distributor. It is essentially a cancellation as we don't keep a backorder open for it.

It leaves you free to re-order it at a later date if you wish to without fear of having the order duplicated."

I wouldn't mind too much, but the title was the main reason for that particular order and if the title was not available at all i.e. not classed as "BACK ORDER", then it would be nice to know and not be left hanging, as regards this information.

I won't complain too much about Laser's Edge, as for any of my other previous orders, they have been excellent. Hopefully, their real-time stock inventory info will help.

To be fair to Laser's Edge, they have been helpful and responsive. Shortly after I complained about my order,Marc
told me the titles have arrived and would be shipped the same day.I received the package three days later through DHL. So thanks Marc.

But as oyher people have pointed out, I wish they would clarify which titles are immediately available for shipment, and those that might take longer as they are not in stock. If they do that, I think we would all be happy customers.

Laser's Edge new-look website is up! Note that the new site uses some minimal Java and cookies.
