They're very good at setting up the scene, the lighting, makeup, position, poses etc. and a million other little things that someone totally amateur doesn't even think of doing. The difference in quality shows on the video. I've been impressed and that experience has shown me that any performance in front of a camera isn't effortless. It takes work to look that good.
