Lexington Steele in responding to whether he would allow his children to become porn stars:

"In no way would I recommend this job to my best-friend, let alone my children. Every day in this business you must decide to risk your life. When I came into this business in '98, 5 women were infected with HIV from one guy. It was a scary time. I would positively forbid my daughter from working in this industry. There is a measure of self-respect a sex performer gives away every single time he or she is on camera. I wouldn't want anyone so close to me to give away anything so important and valuable. When I have kids I will instruct them that their bodies are temples, and I don't want anyone walking up into and defiling their temples."

This opinion is contradictory to the image of the Lexington Steele in porn. Can someone tell me if this is really his opinion? If it is, I find it very bizzare, but he is free to think what he wants. Pleasure defiles the body? WTF

When did he make this statement. I thought he was still in that Turkish Prison. When did he get out? I would've thought the Welcome Home party would've been featured on Luke's site, complete with all those crappy pictures we all know and love. Oh wait, it's Lex Steele. Sorry. Nevermind...

Images are marketing tools.
People inherently have some contradictions. Many smokers would forbid their children from smoking.
There are other (non-addictive) things people enjoy doing that they wouldn't recommend to others either.

I think Lex is a bit of a pompous ass, to tell you the truth. He has a right to say what he feels though.

I agree with Croy about the being a smoker yet not wanting your children to smoke. I am sure that Lex makes so much money doing porn that he can't get himself to stop making it. It doesn't mean he wants his children doing porn.

My own young daughter is going to grow up to look so much like Gia Paloma that it's disturbing. This is probably why, cute and perverted as she is, Gia has never done it for me. Nonetheless, the parent wanting a "better life" for the child than they have enjoyed is the "American Way", and a path of reasoning that is in no way limited to the world of pornography.

Also, keep in mind that Lex has been in the business for a while, and he's getting older. When he started, his new profession was probably a point of admiring conversation amongst his fraternity brothers. Years later, I venture to say that none of these men would risk their own hard-won mainstream careers and public acceptance by socializing with him in "polite" company. They certainly won't be inviting him to family gatherings at the Baptist church!

Social stigma aside, assuming that Lex and his partner would have very good-looking children, the first heartbreak will be the same that it is in any field that a person of color tries to excel in against the odds. It is the moment after the first set of polaroids is taken, when the prospective agent will say, "That's good. We're going to make some decent money together. But you have to understand, you're not going to work as much as the other girls, because you're black. If you want to get noticed, you're going to have to put yourself out there twice as nasty and at half the price of the other girls."

I completely understand his point of view. I love porn, but would never approve of my daughter or niece entered the profession. As much as I am a perverted freak, would you really want your daughter in a Mike John or even a Jules Jordan film? Or Max Hardcore for that matter? I mean c'mon now. No fucking way.

If she did it anyway, I wouldn't forbid her or cast her from the house. But I'd be pretty unhappy. I'm pretty sure more women in porn either know it when they start the job or realize it after a short time in the business, that there is a social stigma attached to the profession.

Honestly, no. But it is based on the reason that I do not want to envision my daughter having sex. It is like me envisioning my parents having sex. But would you like to see your son getting laid for money? Be honest before you answer.
Yeah, and Lex's comments somewhat reinforce it. Love the Lex man, but personally I am not comfortable with his view.

Its different for guys. Getting laid is one of main reasons for being here. I wouldn't say it would be completely acceptable in the public eye, but as a guy you can always spin it around as offering your mighty "stud" skills. That's nothing to be ashamed about, really.

For many of us who are parents, "amneth's" comment hits the nail on the head. We understand that our children are (or will be) sexual beings--but as protective parents we don't want them to be "de-filed" or abused. Even if our child is of age and consents. And we definitely don't want our child's abuse out there for the world to see.

I went to college with a girl who became a Playboy Playmate, and I know her parents. And, even though they don't have copies of her nude photos around the house, the parents have never been ashamed of their daughter, and she never had to deal with "family issues" as she pursued her modeling career.

Likewise, I suspect parents are less opposed if their daughter worked for (the old) Vivid Video, then if their daughter did scenes for Rob Black or Max Hardcore.

IMO, it's our protective instincts with our children vs. the current nature of extreme porn that causes the contradictory views like Lex's.

If I had a son, the answer would still be no.
It was alluded to above. You'd be a hit at any frat party or sports bar and maybe get to be a hanger-on like Ron Jeremy when mainstream stars want to show they aren't too uptight, but it reduces future options.
I'd want him to be happy, with a good future and a happy present. Yeah, within that I'd want him to get enough sex to be happy.
I think so many male porn stars hang around so long because not only is the money good, but the other options (especially now that porn is so widely distributed) become more difficult with porn in the background. Not that the greater majority strike me as being exceptionally skilled, the occasional economics Ph.D and biology degree aside.

I guess if my son/daughter were making six digit figures and traveling all around the world, I don't see how I am going to tell them that they should be doing something else. If I say something like that,I am admitting on some level that porn is a morally inferior business. It goes against the logical foundation of my moral beliefs.

From the comments that I read from Jewel, I am not so sure it is the main reason. Secondly, many women say that like the sex. Why do we assume simply because they are women, they are lying?
Dude, I really why it would be impossible for a woman to spin and say that she is offering her sexual skills.
If there is nothing to be ashamed about you should allow your daughter to be in regular porno. Most porn that I have seen is not max hardcore. Look dude, I do feel you on some level. I would have a much harder time dealing with my daughter in porn than my son. Hell, if my son was in porn I could still watch if he is fucking hotties. There is no fucking way I am watching my daughter in a porno even if she is having sex with Janine. However, I have the power to have intellectual integrity and simply not allow these primitive emotions to dominate my thinking. The double standard exist because we want it to, it is very much in our control to change it.

BTW I could see my wife in porno easily.

Well I didn't say to tell them to do something else.
Traveling is fine, but an odd way to judge a life. So what if they get on planes? There are more certain ways to rake in the money, if you have the talent.

Plus, life is contradictary. See other posts here.
It isn't necessarily a moral statement. Beyond how society looks at you, it doesn't look like a buisness where everybody plays straight - it doesn't look like it is for the weak.

As opposed to an attorney with one client who murders that client and her heirs to get his hands on an estate that has not even reached probate, or a top-notch accountant who cooks the books to cover up corporate theft and embezzlement, or a politico and cabinet who enter into a senseless military conflict to allow their own corporate interests to profit. I despair!

I should have been more clear in my statement. I mean that in genearl, getting laid and sex play a huge part in a man's life. It drives a lot of the things we do. Because of that, I feel that there would be more of an "atta-boy"-type vibe if a Father knew his son was doing porno.

Though I doubt that most fathers would want their sons to be in the biz longterm soely as an actor. They would want them to either get on the business/production side and make big money, or leave the industry to a more "respectable" station.

considering i watch porn, and get a jolt out of watching other people's daughter's getting rammed in the ass and what not, it would kind of be the pot calling the kettle black if i didn't allow my own to do it. fortunately i don't have kids, hee hee. but seriously, yes, doing porn is like having a scarlet letter. for the rest of your life, not everyone, but there will always be some who know who you are. at the grocery store. at parent-teacher night. at the red light. if my kids were bts people in porn, directors, makeup, whatever, no prob what so ever. but on screen doing blowbangs.... but then, let's face it. tough getting a good "respectable" job these days. even with a degree, you may still find yourself having to do minimum wage retail jobs at the mall, so if you can get a nice check, well... there are certainly worse things you can be doing for your money.

I feel you dude. Again I do understand the very uneasiness perceiving your daughter getting fucked on camera in any shape or form. If my son is making six digit figures to get laid, and I crave the chicks, I am not uneasy, trust me. I guess the point is that the double standard even though it may be natural, should be fought against. I would have to allow my daughter to be in porn, if I have no problem with my son being in porn. If it is not abusive, I have to suck it up and support her. It is that simple.

That is a small group. Plus, many of those fans wouldn't want to be seen with the guys in polite society. They like watching the product, but some don't think so much of the people in the industry.
Many in mainstream entertainment don't want their kids working in those industries either.

I do not have children, and thus cannot claim to have any trump card/ insight on this subject. I will only note that it seems tragic that the very idea of sons getting pussy will be looked upon with approval, and daughters getting cock will not. Whither Wilhelm Reich?

I pass no judment on any one's statements downthread, with respect to long-standing biological/sociological tendencies, but would love to hear a mother who is also porn consumer's view herein. Probly will have to wait a long, long time, tho…

It's also noteworthy, I think, that Steele makes no gender distinctions in what he said…and that, like Aria, he says what he says from the standpoint of someone immersed the fuck flick biz, and not from that of someone who very much enjoys masturbating to images of people he will ever meet.

OK. But when I say "spiritual" I don't mean any kind of Eastern or "new age stuff". I mean beleiving in God, Jesus, and one God. As long as we are clear on that.

I agree with Lex's views!

I've been preaching the same shit to all the people around me for the past several years....especially since the last HIV scare hit the industry.

Anyway...I'm new here ...saw that quote from him and had to respond :)

I remember reading once that Lex Steele go to super-universiyt. Like Ivy League perhaps. Is this true? He a smart guy. Maybe he wants his daugther to cure cancer instead if they have super-duper-intelligence built into their genes.

That is all.

Yeah, I remember reading somewhere that he was actually working as a stock broker in the World Trade Center. So it's probably fair to say he's a smart guy. But it's basically like JEWEL said, he just probably wants a better life for his children which is understandable I think.

I want my child to be better than me in ever way that's a human instinct not just a male one.

why on earth would i envision a future for my child where she's sucking dick for money?

i mean really who is playing themselves here?

yeah

The AIM Healthcare Foundation, run by Sharon Mitchell, where all the porn talent is tested every 30 days - publishes a list of the safety risks associated with the various sex acts shot by porn companies.

It lists all the STD's possible from categories like bukkake, creampie, gaping, anal, ATM, felching, snowballing & eye balling.

I keep this list FRAMED in my office for all new models and porn talent to see.

Once they are past 18, your opinions on what they do are just that...opinions. Lex was talking about his future daughter/son I believe, in the future tense. I've three kids all under 18 and I wouldn't want any of them to be in the porn business. Even if they COULD pull down six-figure incomes (which I'm wiling to bet is a small percentage of the porn stars out there), it's likely only going to be for a few years and then they crater. I can help them get a college education when they are young and attractive, use those looks and their brain to find good jobs that will earn them six-figure incomes and more for LIFE. I've done it, they can too...if they want to listen to dear old dad.

If they don't, it's their life. All I can do is teach my children how to make good decisions when they get of age. I can also teach them the nature of consequences of bad decisions. So the choice is theirs....paid college, good chance at a great future, etc. Or go let 8 dudes cum on your face and fuck your anus with 9" cocks for $4000 per scene for 3 years.

Decisions, decisions......

So you enjoy double standards and inconsistenc and your obvious condescension of all women in porn. You seem to htink all women are doing 1000 man creampies and gangbangs.

Have you watched a lot of porn. There is lot more to porn than that. Women to women. Oral sex, doggie style, and penetration does not have to include 8 dudes with 9 inch cocks. Secondly, how do you know your daughter would not enjoy it. I know it is very uneasy for you to imagine but some women like big dicks. Sorry bud, but if the industry was STD free and you had the talent to do it. You would be in porn. So how dare you tell your daughter not to.

Secondly, you seem to forget that men do porn too. ARe you telling your son the same thing. ARe you telling your son that he should not get a hot babe to sit on his face for cash?

This stereotypical behavior I expect from casual viewers.

Here are my two issues with your statement;

1. First you assume that porn inherently must have anal sex. There are performers who refuse to have anal sex and I could care less if I see it or not.

2. You disregard the fact that some women like to have anal sex. Whether you want to envision this or not is irrelevant. It is not your life and if she enjoys it(which she could) I believe you should support her since she is happy.

3. Like number two. You should train your daughter to have a strong mind. If she does not want to do these things, she should have the strenthte to say no. I find it fucking insulting that people have the perception of pornstars as women who will do anything on film. I assure you that this is your peception and not reality. Many women will not do many things. OLivia Ol'lovely bluntly told a dude not to pull her hair on camera. Regardless if you think anal sex and gang bangs are kinkier, she has the right to say NO. So therefore, this notion that men are only strong minded and our young women are weak is kind of sexist to me.

I never said she wouldn't enjoy it. I said (but you obviously don't like to read) that I wouldn't enjoy her doing it relative to other career paths that would allow her to make a lot more income for life. I'm sorry to be overly pragmatic, but the reality is that porn is about the money for the vast majority of the performers. If you actually read the testimonials from the porn performers themselves, and get out of the fantasy that this is a "sex" industry, you'd see that. Porn=money, not sexual fulfillment. If you take the money out of the equation, and it was just two (or more) peeps having sex on video for website release, I wonder how popular the industry would be? Take money out of porn and you've got nothing left.....porn IS money.
LOL, no it's not. I've got a big dick. My wife prefers mine to others she's had. How did that enter into the conversation at all? You can like big dicks and not like being a porn star. Period. You need to learn to seperate the business of porn from the fantasy that you live in your living room while watching it.
No, I can absolutely state this to be false. For one, you can't guess about my life and come up with such drivel and proclaim it to be true. Secondly, my net worth is higher than legions of porn starts combined and it's because I worked hard to build my own successful business. And finally, I enjoy monogomy as a lifestyle choice. I've actually had the other lifestyle and decided I didn't like it. Not everyone wants to jump from partner to partner, and not everyone wants/desires the life of a porn star. Maybe you do, but I assure you, you aren't the majority of the population.

However, it sounds like YOU believe that the only reason the entire population doesn't do porn is because of fear of disease and performance anxiety. Again, I think you need to break out of the fantasy and get with the reality that life is about more than sex.

Yes I would if he were to go down that path. I offer him the same benefits as his sister, which are more profitable and rewarding career paths than porn. He may choose to do it anyways, and it's his choice if he does. The benefits, and consequences, of that decision are his just as they are my daughters' after the age of 18. I'd never stop loving them as my children regardless of their decisions....but there are so many better alternatives for them available.
Maybe on your Fantasy Island.

Let me give you some other hypocritical views here....

I drive cars, but I don't want my children to become mechanics or convenience store clerks.
I eat food, but I don't want them to become foodservice workers.
I have indoor plumbing, but I wouldn't want my kids to be a plumber.
I watch porn, but don't want my kids to become porn stars.

Yeah, I'm a hypocrite. I guess my kind doesn't exist in your fantasy world.

as it's clear you don't have children do us all a favour and please don't breed anytime soon.

p.s. i don't have a son and if i did why would i want him doing porn?

Just because i watch it i want my chldren to do it for a living?

what are you smoking man? i watched a guy on tv tonight who covers himself with bees does that mean i want my children doing it?

hell no my daughter is going to go to the best schools i can get her into and she's going to be a success at whatever she decides she wants to do.
