I'm fond of lesbian movies, so I've tried to shop at www.lezlovevideo.com, which is a very good specialized web site for lesbian dvd's and video. I placed my order and I was very disappointed some days later to get a mail from their staff which said the order had been cancelled as they don't ship to Italy (the country where i live) because of our customs. I have ordered really very much xxx dvd's (hundreds) from several U.S. based web stores and in any case (I do say any) I haven't had items seized by customs. Of course sometimes I had to pay some customs rights and taxes, but it's fair and regular, as DVD's come from a country outside European Union. I've tried to ask them to ship by Federal Express, or UPS, which is safer and trackable, paying the extra charges, but no way... they don't ship at all to my country. They seemed not to like my money :). Maybe you know if they don't ship to any European country... By the way, maybe could you advice for other websites which carry lesbian movies of similar kind, i.e. from "independent" producers as Girlfriends Films, Little Eva, etc.
Thank you very much in advance for help

Lezlove is selling some lines that they have exclusive rights for and sometimes even do the replication themselves. They are most likely not available anywhere else.

Other lines that are available wholesale like Viv Thomas or Girlfriends Films can be obtained from us. We have no problems shipping to Italy from our EU warehouse, these shipments don't pass customs and for faster and more secure delivery can be shipped by UPS on request.

I do know that LezLove has only the US rights for some of the series, so they are not allowed to sell them to Europe.

Thanks for replies. They hadn't told that they cannot sell to Italy due to the rights, they told that they don't ship to Italy anymore because every time they had package seized by customs, and it's rather unbelievable. It's allowed for adults to watch their material, you have only to pay VAT and some duties when you purchase outside EU.

According to what I know italian customs control or open EVERY package shipped through a courier which has the responsabily to pay custom fees and VAT , so this is the worst shipping method to Italy normal airmail is controlled randomly and often if the package pass through Germany isn't controlled at all because there are no custom fees or VAT between EU countries cause VAT is supposed to be paid at the origin, and of course customs don't watch at every address of sender from germany to find 1 of them coming from USA between thousands from other european countries.

That's the same in the UK - if you order from a store which puts the full value of the package on the documentation and the value of your goods is over the threshold (£18 as I recall), the the likes of FedEx or DHL will not only pay duty and VAT on your behalf, but send you an invoice for it which typically includes an inflated administration fee for their services.

I actually read on a non-porn website that they wouldn't ship to Italy because the Italian postal system doesn't accept USPS Global Priority mail, which happened to be their shipping method. Would this be accurate?

I dunno but i know that "poste italiane" doesn'accept insurance from abroad that means a lost pack is also wasted money.

I received Global Priority buyng from Ebay so i don't understand this point at least last year global priority can be received from Italy, don't know what happened, but something happened between the two postal services for example no Money order can be sent from Italy to USA if you want to you must use bidpay or moneygram but not money order I don't know why

Well, about shipping using FedEx or UPS, sometimes I paid duties and VAT, sometimes not. By UPS I always paid, by FedEx sometimes I didn't pay anything. Customs didn't open the package, they put duties according to the invoice. When receiving packages by FedEx or UPS with duties, they are paid at the moment of delivery, in my experience. A receipt with the amount paid is sent afterwards.
I know this way of shipping is more expensive, but it's fast, safe and the most important, trackable.
It results to me that you can send insured mail to Italy from abroad, I did it from Poland.
I received mail by USPS, too.
