Is women's arousal at the sight of women due to subjects not being as accustomed as men to porn -- is it due to a different brain structure -- is it due to our acculturalization of women as the bearers of Beauty, the object of the sexual gaze, ie if we are taught that women, not men, are the primary avatars of sexiness then, over time, does that affect what physically arouses us

Seriously, one of the things I question about this study is that its subjects consisted of a group of 29 female university students. That doesn't strike me as a very big representative sample. Especially given their age--college can be a time of great experimentation for women, and lesbian experiences at school are common enough to possibly be considered cliche. It's also not clear to me whether the researchers controlled for previous porn watching experience; if this group of relatively young women hadn't seen as much porn as their male counterparts, it's possible that they would've been more aroused by whatever happened to be up on the screen. I know almost everything excited me in the beginning, and now I'm picky.

Still, those are some interesting links, Sue, and I'm glad you posted them. As a woman, I can report that I do in fact get visually excited by (some) porn.

It's a myth that women don't get as aroused by visual sexual stimuli as men. In fact, the link above that still works suggests that women even get aroused by porn outside of their sexual orientation more than men do.

There are other things that have been known to, but not usually more than once or twice. I would seem to have a limited capacity for visual stimuli. I think it might be more of a novelty factor for me, and once I've been there and done that, it doesn't trip my trigger ever again.

Boobies would be the exception to this. I love to see boobies. Any boobies, all boobies. It isn't even always sexual, I just love seeing them. I never get tired of tits.

Many lesbians watch porn, but only few hetereo-sexual women. I think this is because most movies center around the women. I cant understand the feminist critics, that women are degraded to sex objects, this critic is only justified for bad porn movies. But in almost all hetereosexual porn movies, the men are degraded to sex objects. Look at the average porn movie and count, how many seconds you see the male face vs. the face of the women.

Most women like to watch good looking man to have sex with other women, but they dont like to watch only a penis in action.
