According to some rumors I heard this is the man who strongarmed Siri out of the business , the man who maybe have strongarmed the same way those who helped her and ignored his ban , such as Nica Noelle among the others.
The man who kept booking girls during the moratorium after the Syphilis outbreak and fined $ 1,000 those who refused because of their health concerns.
The man who kept booking Alex Gonz for years knowing he had Epatithys C just because it isn't listed among the STDs .
It was LIsa Ann who exposed this fact because she found herself paired with him even though he was in her hell no list

Also I'm not sure whereas he caused the meltdown of an actress who found herself paired three times in a row with a man she didn't want to perform with because it was her ex-boyfriend with whom she parted badly and he knew it but didn't care

not to mention the Morgan Lee story, and apparently other similar cases.
It appears his top earners (Chechik, Rhoades, et al.) may have only praise for him, but if you're not in the top league, it appears to be a whole different story.

^ Many new girls go down that path with him it seems. I recall reading in Aria Michael's thread that she was being ripped off by them and had quit the industry as a result. I vaguely recall other girls chiming in to voice similar experiences but I don't remember their names. It's very sad that this isn't a new occurrence yet girls still remain ignorant to him and his practices and end up trapped with him and his agency as a result.

What kind of "entity of a business" is only worth 25K, and you really only take 2K for it? Does it involve riding around on a bicycle and tossing printed newspapers onto the front porches of scattered octogenarians and cranks who still want them?

He treats his stars well because he knows they have a platform and leverage so they can leave when they want and if they put him on blast people will listen. He treats his new girls well because they have the potential to become stars, but basically tosses them aside once he realizes they won't. Everyone else will, generally speaking, eventually get screwed unless they play along exactly how he wants them to. Unless you're literally at the "star" level when going there (Lana), I don't see why anyone already in the industry would transfer themselves over to LA Direct unless they had no other choice. Self-booking, while not a great choice, is still better than going there once you've already established yourself.

As I recall Morgan Lee wasn't released from her contract, so she was forced to sit the rest of the apparently company standard 2 years out without any bookings etc.
As soon as you want to leave:
- you don't get bookings anymore
- you're held to your contract and cannot get another agent
- otherwise those who booked you in-between will not get access to L.A. direct represented talent anymore
- otherwise agents who took you over will similarly feel the pressure as other talent represented by them will not be allowed to work with other L.A. direct represented talent.
The short of it: Morgan Lee wasn't able to perform for more than half a year, and soon after she came back, she announced her retirement, effectively leaving us with half a year of missed scenes that could otherwise have been there. That's not to say Morgan wouldn't have quit the same time she did in this situation, or earlier, but it's still a shitty behavior towards the models.

It's not even just that. The contract performers sign when they go to LA Direct basically states that all bookings have to go through them, no matter what. Which doesn't sound bad until you realize that unless you're a star, how much you get booked is all about making personal connections with the producers and other performers and being available as much as you can, even if that means short notice. Which generally means that while you're doing most of the work to get yourself booked, but the agency is still taking their cut, and can sometimes reject the booking (like if it's with one of the production companies or performers they don't like at the moment). I've seen more than a few performers get annoyed about getting dinged on that.

That's a very persistent rumor actually there's a good number of stars who do , though some of them do not have IR in their list for hiring yet they do it.
According to Siri he has an extensive interpretation of his contract even for things who aren't there , for example , feature dancing and camming , he wants his share even when the stars did book themselves while he was declining work some acresses claimed he was even telling in provate about them being seek so that they weren't even request for booking and yet if they found a way to book themselves passing over his Agency he has the nerves to ask for his share.
He's extremely powerful , he represents males other than women if he placklists your company you may face really bad times , you may book stars from other agents but then whom are you pairing them with?
Also he's chairman for Agents association if I recall well

I asking you this because I looked up the website, and only 7 girls who have IR listed on there model card, Ever since Lana had IR removed from her card she haven't been book those scenes. So he must have a problem with IR or black men but he also doesn't have black girls on there too.

^^More than one pornstar has claimed that they were told by Derek that they shouldn't shoot IR. Usually they haven't mentioned him by name and they only referred to "my agent at the time" or something similar, but all one has to do is check and they'll see these pornstars were represented by LA Direct.
Lana said that it was her choice to not be listed for IR because she doesn't believe that the category should be distinguished from b/g. That doesn't seem practical for bookings (studios who aren't familiar with her views might reasonably assume that she is not available for IR), but she said on her thread that she has something coming up for IR fans soon. I believe her.

In her YouTube video "HOW I BECAME A PORN STAR", Karmen Kama says that Derek went so far as to lie about her availability to people who tried to book her. According to her, Derek simply refused to get her work. She also said that his top talent were very subservient to him and would even go down on him.

^Well, if your lesser talent is unavailable, that opens up a possible job for a higher priced girl and commission which at the end of the day is what it's all about, the commission.

Speaking of IR I hear he charges more for it, so what is why companies aren't going to booking those girls for IR because he charges a high rate for it, and companies aren't going to do it.

Well, if you can get a $500 commission today and a definite $500 commission next week, or a $200 commission today with the hopes of possibly getting a $400 2 months from now, assuming the girl is still around, what are you going to take?
And, given the overall transient nature of the girls, the limited amount of jobs vs amount of talent, and the concept of porn itself, why anyone is shocked at what goes on BTS, I'll never know.

^It doesn't seem that in Karmen's case he made a smart business move for himself. Her career thrived once she left him, so if he did conclude that she was among his "lesser talent" in terms of earning potential, he miscalculated.

And you have a contract that gives you exclusivety to rapresent a girl's best interests in the industry and actively find her bookings , a contract he uses to chain the girl with him and preventing her to go elsewhere and even demanding money when she had to book herself because he doesn't
If I hire a lawyer to represent me in a court and he gets more money from my opponent to idly represent his best interests in that court , whould you still say it's a matter of commission?

Very rarely is a producer going to sit there and say "oh, the $1000 a scene girl isn't available, let me go ahead and book the $1500 a scene one instead", unless they're desperate for someone to shoot. If they wanted the more expensive performer, they would have called about her instead. As an agent, you're basically risking losing all of your agency percentage on the off-chance that you may make a little bit more money for the more expensive girl for that scene instead.
Edit: And now that I think about, the more likely scenario isn't sliding in the higher priced performer, it's sliding in the new performer that you're looking to get established/make a star over the performer that's already established.
Edit 2: An in terms of IR, it seems that LA Direct in general suggests to new performers that they don't start off doing it, but doesn't necessarily force them not to. They got Hadley into a Blacked scene within a month or two of being in the industry, for example, and there are other newer performers he reps that already shoot/have shot IR like Lily Ford or Aubrey Sinclair.

^^ Didn't she quit a while back? I thought I read that, I could be wrong though. And, who knows what went on between them and maybe she was more trouble that she was worth, IDK.
^well, no one forces the girl to sign with any particular agent, so I'm sure it's understood up front that if the client finds a job on her own, her agent still gets a cut. Unlike most of the posters here, I take most of what performers say with a grain of salt and not as gospel as I tend to lean more to the mgmt side of things, I.E. the producers of content, the agents, etc etc.
Could Hay be as unscrupulous as the claims? Possibly, IDK, never met the guy, but given the overall nature of the business, there very well could be valid points on both sides.

^When Karmen retired she was doing very well for herself in the industry. We can only guess, but I do think that if Derek hadn't decided that she had low bankability (if that really is what he decided) he could have made a lot of money with her. Oh well.

Most interesting thing I ever read about Hay is a story Tori Black told Captain Jack about a time she was KIDNAPPED and kept in a basement by some drug dealer and when the drug dealer sent her to see Hay for some reason, he sent along one of his goons to to make sure she didn't escape but he took a dog with him, which Hay took offence to and demanded he take the dog out, Black begged Hay for help but he told her to get the fuck out too, the only reason Black escaped was because Hay called the police because the guy wouldn't take his dog outside, NOT because Black was asking for help. Guess who she is represented by today? Fucked up!
Hay is vermin and his staff are scum, too. Watch the Louis Theroux documentary from 2012, they go into LA Direct and talk to the staff, who have nothing but contempt for the performers, one fat old cow is openly disgusted by the performers she deals with. Hay is a misogynist who trades in flesh, he is butcher, except real butchers respect the meat they work with.
Nikki Jayne had lucky escape.

correct me if I'm wrong, but is Shy Love an agent under this agency? If so, these rumors dont seem far off because her cousin Diamond Kitty spilled some inside info on cam shows a few years back.
And is this not the same agency that had August Ames, when she was allegedly forced to stay weekends at an agent's house?
Also, I went to check the agency page, and after seeing the banner of the star talent, Tori Black's appearance is quite ironic given all the other females on the banner and "preferences"

Shy Love has run her own agencies for years now (first ATMLA, then she sold that and started VIP Connect). And I'm not super sure, but I don't think August has ever been signed to LA Direct.

I'm just going to through this one out and hopefully someone can correct me if what I wrote winds up being wrong. Is it possible that he(or his agency) puts in a lot of time and money into developing these women's porn career and isn't all that interested in seeing them use all his(or his agency) hard work and money to then leave because they don't like they way he is handling their career and think they can do as well or they just don't want to share their money by paying his fees?

Performers signing contracts with an agency isn't actually a uncommon thing. Performers leaving said contracts before they run out isn't an uncommon thing either. The way it usually works is that there's a buyout in the contract, so either the performer can buy themselves out, or if another agency thinks that performer is worth it, they can buy the contract out themselves. What seems to happen with LA Direct performers is that if they don't like the terms of their contract, for whatever reason, instead of going independent, or getting bought out, they just stop shooting until their contract ends. And the thing is that this doesn't seem to happen with women from any other agency. So yes, while it's possible that what you're saying is true, it still doesn't make sense in some of these situations, especially when we have situations with women who are very popular who more than likely would be able to be bought out but end up sitting out their contracts instead, and almost inexplicably retiring after said sitting out (Morgan Lee, possibly Siri).

I think you are mistaken about this. It was rather public that Sony had Steven Seagal locked into a multi year contract where he couldn't work for anyone else. They even sued the makers of Clementine because of it.

This issue actually came up on another forum that I go to and I decided to do a bit of research and was able to find out some very interesting stuff. The man behind this site is Michael W. Fattorosi, he has repped James Deen, Gianna Michaels, Joanna Angel, Rachel Starr, etc.
Adult Biz Law
Sample Porn Contract
Some of the more interesting snippets from the sites blog.
If your agent hands you a contract that does not look the above contract, has additional pages or is not approved by the state of California Labor Commissioner that is not a valid talent-agent contract and you should not sign it.
As a part of being licensed and bonded, every agent is required to have any changes or additions to the standard contract approved by the Labor Commissioner before providing it to talent to sign. Without such approval those pages or parts are not enforceable.
"If a performer feels as though an agent has violated the talent agency agreement they do have legal recourse. However, it is limited. A performer cannot file a lawsuit against an agent. The only legal claim that a performer can make against an agent is to file a Petition to Determine Controversy with the California Department Labor Standards and Enforcement.
A performer can file the Petition themselves, however it is better to retain a lawyer to handle any claim against a talent agent. However, be aware the process of filing the Petition to the final decision of the DLSE may be in excess of one year. The state of California's courts and other departments are underfunded due to budget cut backs and cases now are taking much longer then usual to be resolved. It is often better for the performer to negotiate a resolution of any issue with their agent if possible."
If all the stuff written on this site is true it looks like the agents are in a position of power so taking to twitter or just sitting out seems to be some of these girls best option as it seems it would take a year probably more just to get a decision rendered in their case and this blog was written almost 5 years ago and I the California judicial system is any less backed up now as it was then and I would think a dispute between porn actress and agent would not be high priority.

I just glanced at the contract link and it seems that #5 is a clear "out" from the contract if the agent doesn't get the girl a job over the course of 4 consecutive months. If this is true, why are these girls bellyaching about being stuck in a contract and not getting any work?

Two reasons:
First, there's enough agents that either own production companies or are friends with content producers that getting a performer a job every 4 months (it doesn't say the performer has to take the job, just that they need to be offered it) wouldn't be at all difficult. It also doesn't say what type of job it needs to be except that it needs to be bona-fide. So basically, your agent could offer you a solo scene once every 4 months by some mid-level producer and that would count. You could get offered a content trade for the website of another girl signed to the agency and that would count. I mean, there's nothing there that says cam shows don't count, so it could even be just an offer to do a cam show.
Second, probably because you missed the other part of the conversation where LA Direct is big enough that allegedly if you piss them off enough, they attempt to prevent other studios from shooting you (probably by threatening to withhold their other talent from the content producers that do shoot you), so there's a risk that is what happens if you try to get out of the contract through challenging it legally.

Okay, but are they getting the girls a job every 4 months.
While I get what you're saying, but at the end of the day, given that there are more girls than jobs, are you as a content producer going to let an agent dictate terms to you? Do you really think that any top producer is going to cowtow to any agent? Hypothetical example. If Lansky shots 25 scenes a month, or 300 a year, do you think he's beholden to any one agent, or is he getting calls to cast girls?

^ That's not really a fair comparison for multiple reasons.
1. Lansky is, likely, the top director in the game right now, and his scenes apparently pay really well. As such, he gets his pick of the litter in terms of talent he can choose to shoot with.
2. Lansky's low volume of scenes per month (18 in total throughout his 3 sites) means that there is an opportunity cost per each scene he shoots. What this means to say is that every time he shoots a scene, another girl doesn't get that scene. So, barring several edge cases, he will primarily pick girls with established fan bases or large followings as they will reap greater rewards than a relatively unknown girl.
3. Lansky's small troth of contracted exclusive performers (like Jason Brown or Kendra Sunderland) also means that he has a base talent pool to draw from that, at the end of the day, reduces the likelihood of a new star getting a shot with him.
4. In addition, what shot they do get with him may at best amount to a several scene deal to shoot with his three sites, but not more. What this means is that for most girls, the best case scenario would be to shoot three scenes across his three sites and then he may not hire them again. Though those three scenes may yield quite a bit of money, they are by no means sustainable.
Not many other porn studios or directors have the same luxuries and Greg does, so those caveats do not apply to them. They will generally shoot many girls with many male talents from many different talent agencies. What that leads to is that if one large talent agency blacklists a girl, especially a new one with little fan support, then those girls are pretty much dead in the water since not enough content producers will try to circumvent that blacklist. Because if that agency stops their flow of talent to another studio, then that studio will have much more to lose than simply not shooting with one or a handful of blacklisted girls. Thus the logical thing to do for that studio or a director is to simply comply with that blacklist as there will probably be another beautiful new girl to come along, unaware of the treatment that their agent may bestow on them.
