But now that you mention it well considering how things go in porn , that may be the case, almost, for some. Edited by - LCF on 8/27/2017 11:13:59 AM |

But there's only a handful of producers out there that are at that "top" level. Also, the top directors also have so many performers that want to shoot with them that they like shooting with that they can easily just skip over someone if they want to avoid a conflict. But what about the third-tier director for Reality Junkies? The second-tier director for PornPros? That guy running a Clips4Sale taboo/incest store that shoots with mid to low level popularity performers? Those are the people that may not be willing to risk pissing off the biggest agency in the business. And you're discounting the positives to being on an agency's good side, like being told when a popular performer's schedule opens up, or getting called first/early when they sign a new performer they think is going to become popular. It seems like you're trying to insinuate that an agency can't blacklist a performer unless producers already don't want to shoot them, but I don't think that's true, and I think agents have a decent amount more pull than you're insinuating they do. |

Nor does everyone have the same budget, so they might not even contact that particular agency. 3. I don't insinuate anything. Porn is a product put out by companies to make money. Any company putting out a product has to buy materials to make said product. And, the only time said companies are not in the drivers seat when it comes to purchasing materials are those rush jobs that need to happen right now. At that point, the agent has the power, other than that, for the job 2 weeks from now, the companies can easily say, "I'll get back to you". There is always another source of materials to make your product. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | 1.) Technically, there are enough scenes shot in the US industry between LA, Vegas, and Florida in any given month that given an equal distribution of scenes, every female performer listed with the top 10 agents in terms of performers represented would be shooting multiple scenes per month. But there will never be an equal distribution of scenes. Some women will shoot 12-15 scenes a month, and some will shoot 1 or 2 (or zero). 2.) Not everyone caring doesn't mean no one cares. Enough people care and it takes you from shooting a sustainable amount of scenes to next to nothing, and then you also have the possibility of even if one of those people who doesn't care calls, your agent claiming that you're busy when they call even though you're not (which they've been accused of doing as well). And every major agent in the industry has a range of performers that they represent such that they handle performers that shoot in every reasonable price range, so the idea that they wouldn't care because they don't have the budget to deal with that agent is silly. They may not have the budget for a specific performer, but as long as they're paying what is generally considered the standard rate for that sex act, they have the budget for every major agency. |

Assume 200 girls currently active in porn and assume each girl is available 15 days a month. That's 3000 available slots open for shooting per month or 36,000 a year. There aren't that many shoots going on these days. Even if you considered 100 girls active, that's still a shit ton of availability to shoot. So show me how you figure technically or otherwise how there are more jobs than people to fill them. 10-12 years ago was a different story, as girls were doing 100+ scenes a year. Not anymore. |
| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | For #1, assuming 200 women currently active in porn. Between Naughty America, Brazzers, Bangbros, and Reality Kings, that's about 200 scenes a month right there (each of those sites produces 10-15 scenes a week, so 40-60 a month) . PornPros network of sites looks like they produce about 30-50 a month. Lansky's 3 sites are 18 a month as has been established. XEmpire has released 20 scenes in the past month. Girlsway is at 25. Twistys is about 15-20. If I discount count multiple solos of the same performer as 1 scene, Nubiles looks to be about 20-30. Ignoring those studios, I also counted about 20 non-compilation new releases this week according to the new releases page on this site, most of which featured 4 scenes. So that's another 80 scenes a week, or 320 a month. Add that all up, and that's about 650 scenes per month, or given 200 active performers, 3 scenes per performer per month. And there's enough web-only content out there that I haven't mentioned that the numbers would easily be much higher than that. All I said was that given an even distribution of scenes, there's enough scenes for every performer to shoot multiple scenes per month. Not that every performer would be booked for every available day. Some performers were shooting 100-150 scenes a year back then, but not all of them. Again, distribution of scenes has never been, and will never be, equal, which is why I said it wasn't important. But that doesn't make it not true. For #2, why do you find it so hard to believe that some producers would rather not get the largest agency in the industry angry with them if they don't have to (which they generally don't, as they can usually substitute whatever girl they were thinking of with someone else with little to no consequence)? That sometimes people would rather avoid conflict if possible? Edited by - whatsatelephonebill on 8/28/2017 10:15:41 PM |
| Rosco Fuji Deactivated User On the licking stick, Mr. Magic Dick! 3309 Posts 2/09 | #2 I never said it was hard to believe that some people might not want to upset that agency. I'm saying that some producers just don't care because if one agency doesn't want to provide talent to a set, another one will. The producers of content are in the driver's seat because they are the ones ultimately paying the commission via booking the girl. Just because you don't like me doesn't mean you're not going to take commissions from me, using your example of 650 shoots at $100 per book, that's an estimated (for example purposed only) of $65K per month. Are you going to say, Fuck You Fuji and your (at a 50% book rate) $32,500 in commissions because I might piss you off from time to time? Or, are you going to say, "yeah Fuji might be a bit of a dick, but that $32.5 keeps the Benz on the road?" In the porn industry, you're standing is basically based on "what have you done for me lately?" or as every guy on screen knows, you're only a good as your last popshot. Yeah, if you're reliable and have a bad day, they might say, "No problem," but overall, it's strike 2 and you're out! Edited by - rosco fuji on 8/30/2017 5:28:00 PM |

Also, those 650 theoretical scenes that I brought up are coming from, give or take, about 30-40 different producers. Mindgeek is, more or less, the biggest company in the industry, and even between all their brands you're only looking at about 200-250 scenes a month that are technically coming from about 7-12 different actual producers (there's overlap in producers among brands, but 2-5 different people each make content for Brazzers, Reality Kings, Digital Playground, Twistys, Mofos and Babes, and those people actually generally work independently of each other). For the most part, any one producer is only making about 30-40 scenes a month, so you'd actually only be cutting yourself off of about $3K to 4K a month, which is still a nice chunk of change, but something you can live without if you think it would prove a point to other people. |

| whatsatelephonebill Senior Member 2935 Posts 10/11 | 650+ scenes. 200 theoretical girls. How is that not more scenes than girls? And you haven't proven me wrong, you've explained to me how you believe the industry works, and I've disagreed with you and explained why. You saying that a agent wouldn't turn down 32K (even though, again, no one producer is worth 32K a month to any one agent, and most aren't even worth that a year to them) doesn't mean that an agent can't or won't blacklist a producer (or, back to the original point, losing whatever they would have made in booking fees doesn't mean they won't blacklist a performer). | zaxmate Senior Member 8384 Posts 5/15 | Just because there are a lot more models than jobs doesn't mean it's ok for an agent to be an asshole to his unpopular models that struggle with bookings and actually need his help and instead end up getting shelved. As far as I know, LA Direct is the only major agency that announces they are a 30 day test company and if a producer requires a 14 day test for a Direct girl the producer has to pay for it. The fact that Derek is able to do that several years after most of the industry agreed to make 14 day testing a strict standard as well as that producers don't pressure him to comply with it and would rather let his bullshit slide and cowtow to be able to work with his top 10 models shows how much leverage his top roster has. |
