As I understand it, the average paycheck for a scene is $500-$1000 or something, lower if you're one of the many unknowns. When I learned this, I was very surprised as I thought they earned much more. Now an hour of escort "company" is between $100 and $300, at least the women I see. In the first case: While the escort girls don't have to deal with any of this. It's discreet, quick and there are no "records". So why do girls do porn? I mean, any half-decent looking girl can be an escort. And you can escort as much as you like, so I don't agree with any possible "but you can shoot a porn scene every day" arguments. Is it the attention? Do they want to be rich and famous although, in reality, they will surely not be? Lastly: some actresses also escort, but they charge twice what they get payed for a scene. Why is that? It would seem so much easier and way less nasty (I've never been with an actress but am guessing they wouldn't do a2m or such escorting). There is, still, an attitude that the performers are doing something underground and rebellious against society. And there is also a lot of devout exhibitionist's that love to be seen in front of cameras, not unlike their sister mainstream counterparts. Hooking does not have at least the modicum of safety that monthly testing offers an adult performer. And repurcussions from the law does make escorting a little dicey for most. Please realize that not all porn scenes take all day, many gonzo sets close shop after 1 to 2 hours of work. While I'm sure some sex-workers, in any given pussy-numbing 12 hour day, can cash out bigger as an escort, I sure as hell appreciate the hard-work ethic of a cool porn chic who take her gig seriously.
