On his website today, Luke Ford "reported" that both Racquel Darrian and Dani Woodward have escorted. To my knowledge neither Racquel or Dani are active in the biz--and this is the first time I'd heard Racquel mentioned as an Escort.
Because so much of what Luke "reports" turns out to be half truths or non-truths I question his judgement in printing these claims--especially if made by others.
Racquel, although long retired, still has a loyal fanbase (including me) and Luke's report seems to indicate that she escorted in the past. I don't believe Dani has worked in front of a camera in about a year, so I also consider her retired.
True or not, Luke's site is widely read by industry people and fans, and making this claim about Racquel will sadden at least some of her fans, who will not be happy to hear that at 39 years old she's trading her body for money. In fact, I thought twice before opening this thread, but decided to go ahead once I discovered other porn news/gossip sites were also reporting Luke's claims.
Luke may believe that reporting various porn performers have, or are, escorting is another way of letting girls know what the porn star career leads to--and may persuade some girls not to enter the industry. But I question if it's right to reveal private facts about a performer after she retires.
In my opinion, when a girl leaves the biz, her personal life is no longer fair game for porn gossip sites. What do you think?

If you believe that Luke is a gossipmonger then why are you bothered by what he reports? It doesn't bother me what he writes, I'm simply bothered when people report what he writes as if it were fact.
I'm sure that some women view porn as simply another aspect of the sex trade. If they are happy escorting then I don't see why I should be bothered by that fact. I'm not one who believes that a certain profession guarantees happiness to its practicioners, so it seems illogical to suppose that any other profession would guarantee unhappiness.
In sum, you don't know enough to feel good or bad about the reality of either woman's situation.

Apart from the legal issues i don't see any difference between escorting and porn anyway.
You're getting paid to have sex with a person you otherwise would not have sex with, it would be weird to accept one and then look down on people who do the other.

I don't agree.

I'm not so sure about the purpose of this thread anyway.
To single out Racquel and Dani?
Then it belongs in the star crossed.
To start a serious discussion about the relationship between porn and escorting?
Then you could have posted in the thread I started some days ago.
The response wasn't overwhelming.
Hence people are more interested in naming porn stars who are escorting than a general discussion.

I just wish more younger porn stars would escort, like Bree Olsen, Nastasha Nice..instead of waiting until they are washed up, like Racquel.

Personally I respect girls more who do escort than the ones who decide to work for the sleazy Dennis Hof. I mean I'm sure the money pays very well at the Bunny Ranch but I can't believe the girls are oke with having sex with Hof also as part of the job.

My purpose was to start a discussion about Luke reporting that specific performers are listed on Escort Agency websites. Especially if the performer is retired. It's not only about Racquel and Dani--which is why I posted it here, not on Star Crossed.
Over the past several weeks, Luke has been hotlinking to escort agency photos or customer "reviews" much more frequently than in the past. I don't agree with him reporting that anyone is escorting--because it could be a site using a girl's photo to get customers to sign-up, then say that the pornstar is unavailable. Or worst, given the feuds that sometimes exists between girls in the biz, Luke could be fed incorrect info on purpose--to embarass or harm the reputation of a performer.
Yet, Luke can make a case that it is okay for him, as a porn journalist, to print anything he wants about "active" porn stars. But, IMO he has a harder time justifying reporting the same info about "retired" girls. That's why I mentioned Racquel as an example.
Bottom line: I'm interested in what people think, on the subject of "reporting" that a performer is escorting. I've gotten some comments and will probably get more. They're all good...especially since anyone who's read Luke's page knows that he trolls this site. So, it's also a way of telling Luke what people feel about his "reporting." Get it?

@wheat,
I have to agree with you, whether you do it in front of the camera or for fee somewhere else. Its all the same. Sorry.
Common Sense, here. I think buying a product with sex performers that are paid is the same as buying some where the money is changed.
I keep this all in prospective, the things Luke posts are the same "talkY' things as Ok, Us or People. If performers do not want to be reported on or exposed are thought of when they leave the business, don't get into it and the act ashamed of it. I take Tiffany Million on her word and remarks recently that she is not ashamed of her porn past or her present. It was something she did and now does something else.

I don't read Luke's stuff often, but I can't really fault the guy for giving porn stars (current or retired) "free advertising" for their services. I mean, the girls are already on websites promoting that they'll be your 'date' for money, right? So what's the big deal if Luke reports on it? If the girls were out walking the streets (which they aren't, not in most cases anyways), then it's a bit different. But when they actively solicit themselves as escorts, anyone who notices it and reports on it is bad in what way exactly?
Now if you want to argue that the girls in question are NOT escorting and he's just making it all up and the websites and interviews where they STATE they are available for-hire are fraudulent, then be my guest. Otherwise, he's just reporting what he's seeing elsewhere. Generally speaking, that's all his blog really is in the first place...a parking lot of stuff that shows up posted elsewhere on the internet. I've yet to see much in the way of original content from him, which is the primary reason I don't check his site often....it's all reruns.

Is Luke a "real" journalist" or just some hack on a computer. I think he gets away with murder with some of the stuff on his site.
Like the item the other day reporting on Toni James. That was a real cheap shot. And I consider the item on Racquel another cheap shot.
This guy has quite a disdain for these women. These "reports" do nothing good.
It's gossip, sometimes true and sometimes not true.
What needs to happen is the porn stars and others involved in the industry just need to stop answering to his website. They keep it alive by doing so.
Would any of us really be worse off if his website dropped out of site. One less gossip monger the better.

Dani apparently did, before she turned lez. She had a number of reviews on TER. She was around $1000/hr, IIRC.

I think Luke reports on porn escorts for three reasons:
1. It gets a rise out of most of you.
2. No one else does.
3. It's easy. People post reviews of these performers all the time and they are easily available.

My main concern is that many escort sites list porn stars as available escorts just to grab traffic or attention - they associate non-escorts with their business just to catch eyeballs and perhaps to engage in some kinod of bait-and-switch. And the I'm a little less concerned about false reviews, posted only to smear someone who is actually not escorting. I'm less concerned about that because I've heard that escort boards dump posts and users who regularly post false reports.

This thread, and many others like it, just kinda make me scratch my head.
Why do porn fans get so worked up over a porn star who escorts on the side? I can acknowledge the "health" concerns within the porn community when they speak out against this. That has at least some logic behind it.
But porn stars have sex for money for your pleasure. What's the big deal when they decide to cut out the middleman and keep more of it for themselves with a "private showing?"
Sounds like some delusional hypocrisy to me.

I think this thread has run it's course--and served it's purpose.
I got the feedback from fans that I was looking for on the issue of "reporting" retired pornstars as escorts. Plus the LukeFordIsBack site has stopped it's almost daily reporting of pornstars escorting--and linking to escort sites that often carry unauthorized photos of pornstars.
No longer an issue for me.

Although this is an old thread, I'm reading it for the first time. I am not at all surprised porn stars make bags of money screwing off-camera. Racquel Darrian lived in Las Vegas during the late 90's and well into the 2000's, so its not too much of a stretch to imagine how she was spending her free time in the prostitution capital of the world. I'm not saying its true, but a single, beautiful former Penthouse Pet turned porn star would be a hot ticket for any rich guy looking to sink his dick into something incredible. I'm there were offers all the time.
Personally, I have nothing against girls fucking for $. Big deal. I wonder if these girls can be picky about who's nailing them or do they just screw whoever coughs up the right amount of $? I hate to think of some fat, old troll going ball deep on her, but it probably happens to all those porn hotties at some point.
I wonder who fucked her after she got rid of Derrick Lane? Any idea? Man, I'd love to bang her.....

^^ The "problem" is that you're trading sex for money--which in most states is illegal. Also, the "basic question" is: are pornstars "performers" or "prostitutes."
For many, many years (approximately 1970s thru 1990s) pornstars did NOT want to be considered prostitutes. Today's fans, who write on Message Boards, don't seem to see the difference--or care. And most of today's porn performers don't see any difference between being "booked" for a two hour scene in front of a camera for an internet site/gonzo sexvid, or being "booked" to fuck a customer in a hotel room for two hours that is not videoed.
But my reason for starting this thread had to do with "privacy"--and the practice by the then-writer of the Luke Ford site of naming performers who were escorting, or prostituting themselves. On top of the privacy issue, was the fact that sometimes Luke was "fed" untrue info about a performer escorting by an enemy of the performer. Thus he was possibly "harming" the image of a performer.
As stated above, the Luke Ford site no longer searches the Escort Agency websites for names of performers, or prints it when someone claims a performer is escorting.

Not a big deal to me mind you, but to be fair, there's usually a middle man when it comes to escorting, too. A porn agent usually takes 10%; an escort agency takes somewhere around 40%. A girl doesn't *have* to use an agency, but acquiring clients (either as a porn or escort agent) is practically a full time job as it is. Having ten girls isn't that much more work than having one.

I see no problem with escorting. I have a few friends who do, and for the most part, they see the same people over & over again, they know they are safe and clean. If you're working in porn, you tend to generally work with the same performers on a regular basis, so I don't understand what's the big deal.

^Question: if a law is unlawful, unconstitutional or unjust, is it ok to break it?
That's what you need to be asking. Because obviously the people doing this feel that the law is unjust. So you have to ask them whether they find it ok to break an unjust law, as opposed to any old law. Otherwise your question is too broad and of course everyone will say "no", and then you'll feel like you're right and you've proven your point, but actually you didn't prove anything, because the people still feel the law is unjust and still feel that it's ok to break it.
Your question must therefore be refined to something similar to the one I typed above, in order to get any useful responses.

Hmmmm...Interesting question. In most counties in Nevada prostitution is legal. Most every other place it is a crime. In a LOT of places around the US it is either illegal to make porn, or the making of an adult video is in a very gray area at best. In a number of the deep south states, and places like Oklahoma it is illegal have oral sex with your spouse, or to have a vibrator. I think most people would agree that murder or kidnapping is a serious crime. I'm not sure that shooting porn, giving head, selling my ass or using my Eroscillator is up there with those events. I also think that most people including cops think they have more important work to do than bust two people involved in a 69. But if you take the position that a law is a law is a law.......

Appearing in porn is one way to advance an escorting career. Pornstar escorting fees typically are much higher than those of other girls who escort. Put in other terms, escorting is a way for a pornstar to capitalize on her brand equity.

Just a little FYI.
Racquel Darrien, whom I talked to last week, has been in the real estate business for almost 10 years, she is now working in the collection business.
She does not do any escort work.
I would be first in line if she did.
But she doesn't.
She is busy raising her daughter and out of the business, period.
As for Luke Ford, the Enquirer of adult gossip, he is fun to laugh at and even ridicule right to his face, but as a reporter, please.
He wouldn't know the truth if it came up and slapped him in the face.

^^It's good to hear that a former Icon like Racquel is doing well in her porn afterlife. Which is why I took Luke to task for posting names of performers or former performers as "escorting." Many of those named were not, in fact, escorts.
Back to the broader subject of escorting. Today's porn performers don't seem to mind escorting. And, by the recent responses on this thread, fans continue to NOT believe it wrong to escort. Even if it's against the law. Interesting.

1) As others have said, who the hell really cares?
2) There is a difference between porn and escorting. One is for the purposes of entertainment only. No one participating there for their personal pleasure. It's the difference between Megan Fox and Shia LeBeouf kissing onscreen in Transformers and Shia LeBouf paying Megan Fox to kiss him in his hotel room.
3) Amber Smith, currently on Celebrity Rehab, was an A-list fashion model who even managed to land parts in A-list films, light years away from the level of porn stars and yet she wound up doing escorting, so why is it either a scandal or a shock that someone doing Anal Angels or some goofy shit like that would wind up doing it too?
4) Seriously, who the hell really cares. I'm surprised more porn stars don't advertise it, because I'm sure your average fan would pay more for an hour than any producer ever would.

^^ And I continue to find it "interesting" that so few people (fans, performers, agents, journalists, etc) care that in most places "escorting" or "prostitution" is illegal. So, as un-scientific as this "survey" of opinions is on this thread, I guess for most people it's "okay" to break the law.
And, I guess, it's okay for porn to be known as an industry of "law breakers" or criminals?
Where is that "line" in the sand where we can break the law and it is okay. Versus, where if we break the law, it's not okay?
Just wondering.

1) "Escorting" and "sex for money" are not mutually exclusive, which is why you can legally advertise as an "escort."
2) It also only matters if you believe prostitution should be illegal in the first place and chances are if you're as free thinking to like porn and discuss it openly here, you don't. Apparently you don't know where you're posting to think anyone here is going to have an issue over someone having sex for money. Try sexuallyrepressedhypocrites.com.
And finally to your initial question, yes, if you're out of the business you should be left the hell alone. But to be an escort is to still be a sex worker, so there is a valid connection, especially if being in porn facilitated the move or vice versa.
