Hello people

After reading the buyers guide and other peoples reccomendations on this site i decided to buy a dvd online for the first time, opting for lasers edge.
I made my purchase on 9/9 and received shipping confirmation on 11/9 can someone who uses this site regularly tell me when to expect my disk to arrive?
Its now 23/9 and i havent got it yet is this normal?
Being a first time buyer im not sure how long the process should take - i live in notts/england by the way.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry yet. I use Lasers Edge quite a bit and (with the $1.99 shipping option)the disks can take anything between two and four weeks to arrive in the UK.

I would reckon you'll receive it sometime before the weekend. Remember to let us all know in this thread, just so we can keep tabs on current delivery speeds.

I've found with LE that the order confirmation and shiping notice come fairly quick and then I wait between 3 and 4 weeks. Its normally just as I'm composing the email saying "where's my DVD" that it flops onto the doormate.

I had one disc not turn up. I suspect it was more to do with the UK postal service than LE. They asked me to wait the full 30 days and then gave me a complete refund, no questions asked.

Quality.

2-4 Weeks ??? !! I would be going beserk if I had to wait that long for a DVD to arrive. I use ERO DVD and until recently (ish) their service was very good and 3-5 days was the norm. even when I have usef Jadedvideo in the US I think from memory average del time was app 8-10 days.

2-4 Weeks !!!!!!

I have a similar story!

My stuff was sent by Lasersedge on the 11th Sept, and now the 29th has come still no luck!

It aways take 10 days man.....I will wait for the mandatory 30 days before emailing them again.

Just thought I chipped in. Laser's Edge is a wonderful store. It took them 2 days to fill my order, had it shipped on the 3rd day and I received the DVDs on the 5th day using express service.

The $1.99 shipping option should take longer but it'll come eventually..

p/s: They shipped in sealed DVD cases.

Laser's Edge orders usually take about 3 weeks to get to me in Australia, but I've never had any orders from LE go missing in the post.

cheers,

Sorry it's taking so long for you, Spoony. Sometimes I've found orders from Laser's Edge took quite some time to get to me after the date they were stamped by customs, held up somewhere in the postal system. Still, give it some time, get in touch with Laser's Edge, and I'm sure they'll see you right.

I used the DHL shipping option for my first order with Lasersedge. Left the US on Sept 4th, arrived in Ireland on the 8th. The extra cash is worth it for peace of mind, if nothing else!!

Intend to buy from them again.

Good luck with this. Don't forget to let us know.

Hello again
Just thought i'd chip in about the shipping charge discussion. I read through the buyers guide on this site and other peoples recommendations and the $1.99 adult shipping special was one of the main selling points that made me choose LE - i realise now this is in fact far from a positive thing as Dexter and Snowden both just said they use another shipping method and its now 6/10 and i still dont have my dvd :(
So when the 30 day waiting period is up who do i direct my email to at lasers edge - anyone in paticular or should i just use the sites contact form???

Cheers

spoony:
When you take the $1.99 shipping special, you do it at a risk. If you receive it then it's good. If you do not receive it for whatever reason, then it's a total loss. Laser's Edge in its website states that loss shipments will not be replaced for $1.99 shipping special. So next time if you choose $1.99 shipping special, be prepared for loss scenarios. But of course, there are feedback from other people saying they receive their DVDs through $1.99 special.

If you want absolute guarantee that you receive the DVDs, take the courier option. Laser Edge offers only DHL and UPS (no Fedex). The pros of courier shipping is the package is trackable, insured and very fast (less than 2 days for me). The cons is Laser's Edge rates for courier shipping is very expensive ; $20 for DHL, additional disc $2 and $30 for UPS, additional disc $3. Their low prices, however, helps to offset the high cost of courier shipping. So the total costs for buying from Laser's Edge is about the same as say DVD Empire.

The other good reason to buy from Laser's Edge is that their DVDs are shipped 'factory sealed'. This means should you decide you do not want the DVD, you can return it for a refund so long it has not been opened. This is a strong point as a lot of other stores ship DVDs unsealed or some even without the case.

My experience with Laser's Edge has also been pleasant. All my emails get answered by the next working day. Some stores takes a long time to reply and some don't even reply!

I hope Laser's Edge will:

  • Continue to keep prices low
  • .
  • Reduce the courier shipping costs
  • .

I hope you will receive your DVD soon. Maybe it has been delayed or maybe it has been stolen. You can get in touch with Laser's Edge through the 'contact us' form quoting your order no.

I hate to admit this but I have a little problem with Lasersedge myself right now. Two packages were sent to me on 9/12/2003 and 9/16/2003 but I still haven't received them yet. I e-mailed Marc about it and he said that it could be due to the hurricaine that hit the east coast last month. Most airports were shut down and they used a mail consolidater located in New Jersey. If I'm not mistaked they used this mail consolidater before and it was not really a success I think so I'm afraid I won't see my movies again.

Cheers for keeping us updated - seems to be a glitch somewhere in the system, and the hurricane scenario could well be a factor.

I hope you won't be put off using LE again, as I think you're experience is not typical.

I hope I will also receive my movies one of these days. I just hope LE didn't switch back to their old shipping service because it was very flaky.

Spoony, glad to hear you got the goods...at last. Can you do us a favour have a look at the packet and tell us what date it passed UK customs?

Hi
In answer to your question Gabriel nine it doesnt seem to say a date. There is a green united states postal service sticker with 'magnetic software disk' stamped on it but no date?
There is also a sticker that says zurich and some numbers??

Hope this helps

YES, Sponney, I did get the packages on Friday!
In all ocassions I have shopped with laser edge this is the worse ever! I will not use their 1.99 service aain, it should be scraped and replaced with the kind of Airmail serviceas Adultdvdnow/Adultdvdexplorer. It took a flipping month. I would have spent $10 for shipping 2 dvds.

I don't mind waiting a whole a month but I would like to know in advance if it will take so long because now I assume my package is just gone :-(

Spoony, thanks for the reply.

I was just wondering if it had a UK Customs stamp (it's usually on or over that green customs declaration sticker) because I had a couple of packages a while back from Laser's Edge which had clearly entered the UK and been stamped by customs quite some time before I got them. I just wondered if that was what happened with your goods.

One drawback of ordering from Laser's Edge by courier is that they don't have stock status so you can order items for express delivery and still have to wait till they get 'em in stock.
