Probably the most common question that I get asked is for recommendations on videos that depict couples making love, rather than strangers having sex, and it always stumps me.
I just got another one, and like the others, they never really qualify it by the content, although I imagine that group sex, DP's and the like wouldn't do. I think they are referring more to an appearance of connection, attraction, love and passion more than anything. Or maybe just knowing the other person's name would suffice, hehe.

I think they are referring more to style than actual reality. These viewers prefer slower/cuddling sex which the carnal intensity is usually at best domesticated.
They certainly would not enjoy any rough sex even some of vivids more aggressive scenes would turn them off.
The greatest adult film of all time -- NIGHT TRIPS.
All the scenes leading up to the last might be considered couples "having sex." Which only aids in setting up the last scene where the couple "makes love."
It could be argued the same forumla was also evident in SENSUAL EXPOSURE. But I do not think the emotional chemistry between the partners in the last scene OF SE was anywhere near as obvious or as evident as it was in NT.

Blake's stuff is so glossy though that I feel like I'm watching a feminine hygiene spray commercial. Maybe they are "making love," but it looks like everything is in slow motion, gauzy and art-directed, not what it's really like. Then again, the amateur tapes look like shit and are so not romantic. The best lovemaking I've seen lately was in "Irreversible" (a beautiful scene in an otherwise despairing and manpulative French "shocker"), when the principals, who also are partners in real life, have an intimate session together, full of tenderness and humor.
What are you saying Skronker? That you want a film that's got the gritty, realistic feel of amateur, but with filmmaking/story telling that's as good or better than an Andrew Blake video? Hmmmm. Not a half bad idea. Someone should get to work on it pronto!

It's odd that there's not more of these types of scenes, but I suppose only real-life couples could bring it off with any degree of believability.

Edgier acts of intimacy like fisting are fine as well. Thing is I like those things to occur with some kind of context, not to be "adminstered" like they're some kind of "punishment" or some kind of physical endurance test. Love's Passion gets mentioned a bit as being a reasonable "romantic" feature. Lunacy did a review. I haven't seen it.
We like Sexual Secrets from the Alexander Institute. It's not a feature but there's plenty of sex between people who seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves and each other. It's not "incendiary" but well made.There's a lovely little scene that my partner thinks is extremely sexy. It's a simple scene where the couple emerge from their bathroom wrapped in towels into their softly lit bedroom, she lays back while her lover kisses, licks and cherishes every bit of her and brings her to orgasm with his fingers. It lasts all of about five or six minutes but it's very engaging.
Blowfish has a Real Life Sex category that's worth a look. Tony's gorgeous film is there and some stuff from Miller's Work that looks like it could have potential.

Actually I would recommend a title like 1001 Erotic Nights to them. The plot line covers a lot of "sex" but in that Annette Haven is telling the tales but the final scene between her and John Leslie (I believe) is very romantic and more akin to "making love".

It was no accident that AVN pronounced NIGHT TRIPS the greatest adult film of all time. I encourage people who have not seen it to do so. It is nothing like the Blake of today. Just make sure you get the new Caballero disc! The old ones are some of the worst examples of DVD manufacturing.
