But let's be honest, Manuel isn't even close to the first person to come up with the idea of shooting scenes in the "Raw style". It's something that fell out of favor with the rise of Jules Jordan-style gonzo, but Raw-style scenes have been a thing since the early to mid 90s, for the most part. I'd like to think he would never try to claim ownership over this type of scene, even though Raw is the most popular series today using it.

Yeah, it's not really a unique concept, mostly because it's so basic. I can understand feeling somewhat territorial about it though, especially when a new guy joins Evil Angel and immediately starts releasing his own "Raw" movies. It doesn't seem to be that big of an issue to those involved though, twitter snark aside.
^ And, for as much as James may have started "releasing" them when he got to Evil Angel, he'd been shooting them for a decent amount of time before he ever signed his deal. I remember seeing the some of the "Sex Tape" scenes on a VOD site like 2-3 years ago, at least, which was even before he had his own website to release them on. Heck, you can look at some of the girls he's shot like that (Lexi Love, Tatiana Kush, Scarlett Pain) and tell that those scenes have been in the can for a long time.

Sure. I think I actually raised that point in an earlier discussion about this. My point was only that I can understand the perception given the circumstances. There's no doubt that there's more and more of this style of porn being produced these days, though. I have to think that Raw is a big reason for that.

Amateur stuff in general has become increasingly popular, I think maybe because people are increasingly interested in "authenticity." I think it's maybe why "romance" stuff has become popular too. It's like the way indie music became popular in response to the rise of corporate rock. Markets get oversaturated and people long for the opposite. Being a big fan of the genre myself, I still think that RAW does it best.

I'm all about authenticity. That's why Raw is my favorite series, and why I welcome anyone else willing to shoot porn like this, whether it works (for me, obviously) or not. I've noticed female performers shooting scenes in this same style for their own productions -- Romi Rain, Angela White, Dani Daniels. I think that's awesome.
James' approach is different though, as most of his scenes are with complete newbies who signed up to do a scene with him through his site and aren't looking to actually become pornstars (though some have, like Janice Griffith and Ashlyn Malloy). And yes, he's been shooting scenes like this and releasing them through a vod store for at least 3 years.
Chemistry as well ! Nothing more boring than watching a scene whether it being amateur, POV or whatever where there is no power, spark or passion . Just a waste of time and money.
Haha ye, Sara Luvvv is another Latina I want to see in Raw... they have a scene coming up in the next William H movie too.

And a question for you Sovereign as you have been in the RAW series and also I guess you are close to Dana and him..It seems like he shoots all the scenes in a single or two days space lately in the same location. Whats the rush for? cost-cutting? the girls availability? any reasons? I'm pretty sure that's the case, yes. The two trailers for his upcoming movies look identical to Evil Anal and his old Fucked on Sight POV series. For me, it's a positive development, provided he keeps up with his work over at Evil Angel. On a more related note, I really enjoyed Evil Anal 22. Kayden's scene was awesome, of course. The anal seemed like a bit of a struggle at first, but they worked it out, and obviously they have exceptional chemistry. I thought Veruca James' scene was epic. It had the most "Raw" feel to it of any of the scenes-- it was passionate, intense, and really dirty, without seeming over the top or contrived. I'm not a big fan of Marica Hase or Eva Karera, but I also enjoyed their scenes, especially Marica's. I thought her scene in Raw 11 was a complete dud, but she seemed way more comfortable here, and it made for a really good scene.
^ Should be good but Manuel passes over some of the most obvious choices especially performers that have lots of experience on camera. Still no Jada Stevens (can't believe I'm never going to see this scene), Dana DeArmond, Marie Luv, Skin Diamond, Riley Ried, Eva Angelina, Ashley Fires, Chanel Preston, Alina Li (too late now...), Siri, Maddy O'Reilly, Juelz Ventura, Natasha/Natalia Star (said he'd pick Natasha on twitter), Megan Vaughn, Jayden Lee. I could go on forever. That said looking foward to AJ Applegate's scene and haven't heard of and am curious about Harley Dean (Black-Asian mix?).
gonna pass on nr 19, the only girl who's remotely attractive is Harley and I don't think she's got have enough credentials to be in such legendary series like RAW this quick.

There's so many girls he's shot with for his other movies as well as girls he's did scenes with many times for other companies but never for Raw. I get what you're saying to an extend, but I think this volume looks pretty great in terms of talent. Harley Dean is awesome. AJ Applegate is a pretty big name that he shot. Also, he did book Alina Li but it didn't work out. Eva Angelina I believe only shoots g/g and Marie Luv only came back like last month. He also tried booking Siri. Megan Vaughn/Ana Fox would be amazing for the series. It is interesting he's never picked Chanel Preston though as he has many scenes with her. I also agree with Jayden Lee and Skin Diamond.
I'd be surprised if he doesn't shoot Skin Diamond, Riley Reid, Chanel Preston, and Maddy for Raw in the near future, whether it be for the regular series or his Evil Angel version. I don't really have a feel for the rest. I'm really excited about AJ Applegate's scene. Kiara Mia's should be good too. I haven't seen Jessa Rhodes or Harley Dean in anything before, but Jessa is hot and Harley is ridiculously hot (she's in his upcoming POV movie for Jules Jordan as well).
