I have enjoyed all of the Marc Dorcel DVDs I have seen thus far. As any fan of the Dorcel DVDs knows, they are distributed here in the US by Wicked. I stumbled upon the French home page of Marc Dorcel today (www.dorcel.com) and found listings for MANY DVDs not offered here in the States. The blurb at the bottom of the descriptions states that the discs are playable in all-zones and is compatible with NTSC.
Does anyone have any experience with these euro-version Dorcel DVDs? Are they truly compatible? Are the movies different? Is ordering from France reliable? Are there any other euro-distributors that you have dealt with?
I'm in Toronto, Canada and have seen marc dorcel dvd's that are not distributed by Wicked on the shelves here. I don't know who distributes them here but I know that they are around the samprice as wicked stuff goes for here (a little more expensive than other studios). Some of these discs I have never seen on any U.S. intenet store sites. Next time I'm at my local store I'll ask who distributes them here in Canada and if they have a web site, it might help in finding out who in the states sells them if anybody.
I was at my local store today but the owner was not there and the guy working did not know who they get the dorcel discs from, but he did say that the quality on them is great and that they are very popular discs, he told me they sell very well which I tend to believe seeing as how one day I saw like 20 new ones and a week later they were all gone, chances are the guy they get them from does not have a web site but, there is a site that I buy almost all of my adult dvd's from here in Canada, it is www.dv-depot.com and I swear by these guys. Very honest and pleasant to deal with. They even have a forum that they answer questions on and also a title request page where you enter all the info on a particular title (adult or mainstream) and they then see if they can get it and then add the title to their site for purchase. They also have something called a flexicart, it allows you to preorder titles and store them in your "flexicart" until they come in stock, once they come instock the title that you preordered is reserved especially for you in your flexicart, you then have 30 days in which to move that title to your shopping cart and purchase it or you can change your mind and not purchase it at all, very cool feature for an online store. Check their site out and request a few titles and see if they are added, and you can even post a message on their forum page asking about these titles and say that you know someone in the Toronto area that has seen the non-Wicked Dorcel titles on the shelves there and to check into avaiability of them. Mind you, sometimes it takes a long time for stuff to come in stock so you may have to wait quite a while. If the owner of my local store is there next time I'll ask him about where he gets them. I think you'd save a ton on shipping if you ordered from Canada instead of France. Good luck on your quest.
When Dorcel say their DVDs are NTSC compatible, this is misleading, what they really mean is their DVDs are NTSC encoded ie totally playable in North America. The majority of european adult DVDs are NTSC encoded to give access to the american market. This is possible because european DVD players can handle both formats, PAL and NTSC.
I allow myself to mention that we carry all Marc Dorcel titles available. (www.orgazmik.com)
Two things to keep in mind:
1. There is a line by Marc Dorcel called "Marc Dorcel Selection". Those titles are licence stuff from other companies and sometimes also available from other labels like John Leslie stuff that has been released by Evil Angel.
2. Marc Dorcel started to release titles in European PAL format so you cannot generally say all his stuff is NTSC.
I ordered La Ceinture de Chasteté from www.dvdzone2.com and waited a month before querying the delay, whereupon I was told that it had been deleted. And yet it's still available at Orgazmik. There is a pain between my ears...
Hey M.B., I'm in Toronto too! Could you tell me which store it is you're finding the Dorcel DVDs at? Adult Vision? I would like to know, as I am looking for a few titles from him.
We have this title in stock and have no notice that it has been discontinued by the publisher.Yes, email us the titles you are interested in. We will check those discs for you. Since we have experienced that Marc Dorcel has changed format from one batch to another the information will only be accurate for items we currently have in stock.
