This is standard for Japanese porn. I think the Japanese male porn consumer likes passive women that look like they are being dominated in their performances. I'm sure if Maria were to do American or European porn, she would adjust her performance to suit the market. I think the best fit for Maria would be Private. They could do her justice. I would love to see her in gonzo, but they would just run her through the mill and can't probably afford her price. Dear God no. Her time with DAS, which does gonzo, was a disaster and everyone hated it. What was deemed as a poor performance for Maria Ozawa? Mai Kaoru only has a handful of porn movies. Seriously, Japanese porn careers seem far shorter than American or European porn careers. What are the average number of movies? Mai Kaoru only did a handful of movies. Maria Ozawa hasn't done anywhere near as many movies as many American porn stars of similar popularity.
You need to remember that american porn stars are usually in only one scene per movie (roughly 30 minutes). Japanese stars are in every scene of their 2 hour movies. The fact that Maria made 17 movies in 18 months for S1 doesn't look that impressive, but it means that she was in about 68 scenes. There is no American contract star (not talking about free agents) that shoots anywhere near 68 scenes in 18 months. Japanese contract stars work much harder than American ones so they usually don't last as long.

Well yes and no on that. Yuma Asami is fucking her cute little brains out in 2 movies a month for 2 studios and has done so for almost 2 years now. Ditto Akiho Yoshizawa and she's the top seller in Japan. I've read interviews with the girls and the films only take a day or two to shoot because there's no real plot or storyline, just a scene in a room. And scenes are long, running several minutes without cut, so it looks like the cameramen are a bit more competent than their American counterparts. But regardless, girls just work a few days a month. After that it's other stuff, like pictorals and such. And unless they are with DAS or Attackers, they aren't taking much abuse, really. It's certainly nothing compared to the pummelings American girls take. Anal is an exception, not the rule, and DPs are very rare, only done by lower-tier studios. The vast majority do 5 fuck scenes and that's their movie, with maybe one scene involving 2 or three guys, usually taken one at a time. Most quit by age 23-24. The bottom line is, Maria Ozawa didn't really exert herself too much with S1 or even DAS, as she only did like 2 movies for them.

Actually there's a ton of it.
