I've done it whilst with a girlfriend, I wouldn't worry about it. If you feel like you want to do it, do it!

I'm married and my hub does this all the time. Nothing wrong with it. He usually does it when I'm too tired to please him, sometimes we watch together, sometimes he watches by himself.

I'm not married but I do have a girlfriend thats very open-minded when it comes to porn. As for pleasuring myself, I usually do it alone while watching something nasty but it has led to sex when my chick catches me with a lubed-up boner ready for action.

The wife and I are both big fans of solo masturbation. We've tried it together a few times, but she always wants me to touch and I prefer to lick so we always end up having sex anyway.

We just had our first child, so what I want to know is how is masturbation when you have kids to worry about? It's not that big of a deal now, but I'm concerned about when the next one comes along and they start running around the place.

Just one will run around you know! This is what your in-laws are for, just unload the kids onto them for a night. Suppose you will have to plan your sessions in advance a bit more though.

Or you could wait till your kid is asleep, lock them in their room but give them bell or something in case of emergencies! You don't want to be reported for neglect...

Nyguy,

Whatever kind of relationship you're in, everyone needs alone time -- time to relax, time to think and dream, time to take care of yourself. Masturbating to porn is one way of fulfilling all of these legitimate needs. It's a way of taking charge of your need for sexual pleasure, rather than making your pleasure your partner's "responsibility". It's not a substitute for the intimacy of sex with a partner -- because the experience is totally different -- but it is an alternative mode of sexual satisfaction.

One danger to be watchful about, however, is becoming overly dependent on porn. Masturbating alone to porn is easy; relating sexually to someone else is harder. As long as the porn-watching/masturbating is not drawing you away from intimacy with your partner, as long as you're not isolating yourself in the porn-fantasy world at the expense of real inter-personal sexual contact, then you have nothing to worry about.

I've been with the same woman, and monogamous, for 17 years. I believe that masturbating to porn has helped me to remain faithful to my wife, especially during the rocky points in our relationship and the slowdowns in our sex life that have occurred during her pregnancies and shortly after the births of our children. For me, porn serves as a kind of middle point between the realm of pure fantasy and actual sex with a different woman. It's a more concrete fantasy experience that partially fulfills my desire for sexual variety without actually compromising marital fidelity or adding unwanted conflicting emotional entanglements to my life.

So go and enjoy yourself!

I talked to a work colleague once about a threesome he had had. He said that throughout, he kept thinking about all the good wanks he would have in the years to come over the memory of the event!

I think this attitude about sums up the point that whilst masturbation is no real substitute for sex with a partner, neither is sex with a partner a real substitute for 'shaking great white coconuts from the veiny pink love tree'.

I've been married almost 18 years, and we watch porn together regularly. Once or twice a week I will watch porn alone and masturbate.

It doesn't effect our sex life together, and probably helps. Masturbation is like training for the real event. I've always had a strong libido. Some days I can come out of the shower after my 5 minute perfunctory start the day session and jump her bones. Or come home for a little midday fun and still be ready for an extended session in the evening. Keeping it on the edge for an hour or so with a movie or multiple orgasms with two or three pops isn't unusual.

Nyguy,

Earlier in this thread I wrote:

This may not be an issue for you, or for anyone else reading this thread, but I want to be clear that this quote does not come from any "theoretical" knowledge of mine, but rather comes from knowledge gleaned through my personal experience. At times in MY life, porn has served as an escape from intimacy rather than as another path to pleasure. Falling into that trap -- which, I've learned, can be surprisingly easy to do, without one's realizing it, especially when one's relationship is going through tough times -- has never solved any of my relationship problems, or made me more whole, or made me (or my wife) any happier.

Quite the opposite.
