Yeah but I keep wondering about the divide between what people say and what people do. I mean Max has been in bussiness for how long and made how much money? I agree that Mason (and I would add Rocco, Stagilano, Belladonna and Jake Malone) do the rough sex thing much better than Max was ever able to manage. Max is now working for JM Productions right? Not exactly the height of the business. I'm sure Elegant Angel and Evil Angel and even Red Light or Black Ice are far out selling anything from JM. Back when he was one of the only ones doing anal themed videos I think Max did well but as he went more extreme/gross his audience has grown smaller and smaller.
Oddly enough, he probably portrays it as disgusting because that's what his critics call it. There are several ways to be famous or successful. Max ain't gonna win any beauty contests and he was only ever a decent director and/or performer. Nothing that would ever stand out if he'd just been churning out the same porn everybody else was. Max is famous for being outrageous. That's all he's got and all he ever had. His critics basically made him (Unwittingly, most likely). Eventually, he got too famous for his own good (and for all the wrong reasons). What I'm saying is that if you're in a room full of people in black tuxedos, everybody is gonna notice the guy in the outrageous chicken costume. That's the psychology of Max. And probably most gonzo porn these days. There's too much of it for anything to stand out unless it's more (whatever) than everything else. Mason just really stands out. Rocco is really hit and miss for me, when he hits it goes out of the park and by the end of the scene the girl looks like a drown rat. But when he misses it's just a complete wiffer. I've never seen a bad scene or even merely passing scene that Mason directed. Belladonna is simply out of her bloody gourd and if that doesn't make for great porn I don't know what does. Thing is that unless pissing really is that bad i don't see why Max is seen as a villian for what he does when all of these directors push their girls as hard and in some cases harder it seems.

Maybe. I've only seen a few of Max's videos and like I said I've been universally let down. Here is a guy who's whole claim to fame is pushing girls to the limits and I have videos that aleast APPEAR rougher and don't have some wrinkly old guy either. I imagine it's a combination of a lot of things.
Max isn't really usually all that rough with the girls (from what I've seen). At least not if you compare him to someone like Rocco. I've seen Max get very rough but only for relatively short periods of time and only with certain girls. I think most of Max's fame came from back in the day when he was one of the few (if not the only one) doing the stuff that you now see everywhere. Max was the first one I saw doing the whole throatfucking thing. He wasn't really any rougher than most of the guys who are doing it now but he was doing it when basically nobody else was. For a period of time, Max was always on the edge, doing things before anyone else did. And people imitated him. That's where his reputation came from. That and a few stories (which I don't recall if they were ever conformed or not) about things that may or may not have happened on his sets. Edit - Also, pissing isn't really that bad. At least not in my book (because I like it). But I guess it's kind of still seen as edgy (at least in the US). In the US, if you want to do piss, you have to pretend that it's female ejaculate. Max is well known in the US and many people know he does pissing scenes. But I guess all of them were in the Euro versions of his movies so he could get away with it. Basically, just the fact that people know that just gives a little extra edge to his reputation. With Max, I don't think it's really any one thing that's responsible for his reputation as a "villain". It's just all the assorted stuff put together paints a fairly unsavory picture. If you rent one of his movies, you probably won't see Satan incarnate as you might expect from all the hype unless you haven't seen any gonzo porn in the last 6 years (at least). One thing that makes Max different is that he isn't interested in showing the women as actually being turned on by their treatment, he wants to portray them as in actual torment. With a Mason's or Jake Malone's rougher stuff there is little doubt that the women are enjoying themselves.

Funny that no one in this thread mentioned anything about Max mistreating the women, I just suggested that he makes shitty porn, but you still get defensive posts about how the 'ladies must like it.' Regardless of how he treats the women on or off set, he shoots them in unattractive ways and part of his schtick is that the women aren't enjoying the pain, which is rarely attractive to even those into S/M. Max actually gets very few repeat girls, probably because he doesn't pay that well and usually only gets women either when they are new to the industry or on their way down. Actually the women in his films since 2000 on have been declining in looks and quality in general.
I think Max isnt worth wasting two syllables, but we have quite a long thread now........ It is true, that JM Productions produces even harder stuff, but Max Euro Versions are harder as his US Versions. Yes, I too watched 5 or 6 Max DVDs. You can only judge something, if you have watched it. First of all, the fourm really got off topic here. The question was if Max Hardcore did any bondage in any other scenes. That's still unanswered. Secondly, I'd have to take the politically incorrect view that Sasha has, yes it does turn me on too! Despite that I am sensitive to those who might find it degrading to women but you have to realize that this is still a form of entertainment and everyone' s tastes are different.
