All I can say is that John is the only person who makes decisions of who Evil Angel distributes or doesn't distribute, and while he didn't say anything negative about Ivan's movies, he just wasn't interested in distributing them. That's not a slam on Ivan or anyone else. John is a true porn fan, so he only takes on directors who's movies catch his interest pretty much right away. The movies might be great and the director might have a bunch of fans or have great sales for another company, but if the movies don't hold John's interest, then that director isn't going to be offered distribution at Evil Angel and they can look at the bright side of having distribution with any company in this economy. Especially now, with John going through his trial, I'm happier than ever truly believing that John distributes things based on what he truly believes in at the time. I wouldn't be able to stand beside him if I ever thought that he chose things only based on what makes money or what would be the most shocking, for example. He and his personal taste continuously evolves, which is a small part of why our director roster gets an addition every year or so. In one or two cases, John realized that he misjudged someone that he brought into the company, and those people for whatever reason are no longer with Evil Angel. The only times I had ever met Mike Adriano in person before I found out John might be interested in taking him on, were a couple times at porn events because he was a friend of Greg Lansky and I knew a mutual friend of theirs. If anything, Mike seemed introverted and distracted, and I never got a chance to know him as a person or say more than about 2 words to him. John doesn't socialize with porn people outside of our company, so I can tell you that Mike didn't get his job because he had an "in" with John. The only director I can think of that's been taken on the past 8 years that we were "friends" with was Manuel Ferrara, through his excellent work for Rocco Siffredi and in Fashionistas. He's been with Evil Angel for quite a few years now, and his movies continue to be the ones that turn me on the most of all of our directors. If any directors had automatic "in's", our lineup would most likely include a good friend of mine who currently happily directors for another company, and a good friend of our general manager who currently happily directors for a different company. But since John makes the decisions, it doesn't matter and thankfully those friends of ours who are also directors realize that just because we're friends, it doesn't mean they will automatically get distribution through Evil Angel. Brian Pumper didn't have a single friend at Evil Angel. If anything, most of us asked John to please not take him on. I'm sorry if while during your time in the video business, you felt slighted or unappreciated. I'll finish with these two thoughts: - You and John don't need to agree on what makes a director talented or interesting. - Even if you feel that you or your friends have been slighted or unappreciated, unless you feel there is a reason that Mike Adriano's movies are undeserving of being distributed through Evil Angel, then I don't really understand the point of your post in this thread. I don't the funds to produce my own product in hopes of getting distribution. It's out of the question. I think what Ricky is frustrated with is many directors getting their jobs out of knowing someone rather then knowing their craft. To even better fucking their way into a job. I choose to do neither, well I'm sure no one will want to "fuck me" for a job LOL. My credentials speak for themselves from shooting to editing, lighting, experience to extensive promotion. I believe in that regard I stand almost alone except for a few exceptions. I don't approach people for work. I have turned down major companies out of loyalties to my employers past and present. And I know that my work ethic along with professionalism to non-stop promotion of any product I am involved with is a high commodity to any company. And the people that do hire me understand all that I bring to the table. To me Ricky makes sense but this the nature of the beast in any industry not just ours. So with that said. I would love to clear things up. Evil has never approached me, I have never approached them. They never turned me down and I never turned them down. I'm glad people still have jobs in this industry and I am lucky to be where I am at. My hands are full with my work for Amy Ried, Tom Byron and 10 Puba girls. I am not looking into expanding my roster of clients. But here is my reel anyways. And I do believe my site and REEL would compare with most anyone in our field. I'm sorry if I made it sound like you had asked Evil Angel for distribution and been turned down. To be honest, John receives more movies as screeners or demos per year than I bother counting. He watches most of them, but not all. Many of them, he doesn't watch the entire movie. On the other hand, there are also movies that John or I have watched because we want to or out of curiosity. Every year and especially every award season, there's a few directors and movies that come to our attention that we want to check out to see what else is out there that other people think is worth watching. Just as importantly, watching other people's movies lets us see a wider range of female performers in the business than if we only watched the performers that have already worked for Evil Angel. Most likely, John chose to check out a couple of your movies after hearing about you during an awards season or reading a review of one your movies in an AVN or something. It may not have sounded like it, but when I said that John had nothing negative to say about your movies, it was a compliment. John's pretty verbal when he sees stuff he doesn't like. :) Anyway, I'm glad that for now there's still enough room in this business for different directors and different companies to stay true to their vision and be able to make somewhat of a living at it. I also responded in defense of our newest director, who I did feel was unjustly attacked. Does Mike Adriano have the technical quality of the directors who do features at Wicked? No. Are his gonzo movies the quality that Evil Angel fans will be happy with? I believe so. Although there are unprofessional people who for years found it easy to make a living in porn, maybe that's one of the very few good things about piracy and the economy's effect on porn right now. With this said, both films look similar -- Lots of explicit anal fucking and nasty ATM penetrations, but not enough ass obsession. Although "Anal Overdose" looks like it'll have more ass obsession and butt-cheek worship than "American Anal Sluts", "American Anal Sluts" looks better. I saw screenshots for his "Pound the Round 4" with Charlotte Vale and McKenzie Pierce, which looks so fucking terrific. Although with my being done with porn, I will check out one of Mike Adriano's movies. However, with him being new at EA, I will give it some time to see what he'll crank out and if Evil Angel will reissue some of his older movies (Hopefully, they'll distribute "Pound the Round 4".
