Subject,"Mike John" I wasn't going to say anything about Mike John leaving Diabolic and Anabolic, but since they posted it on Luke Ford, I think Anabolic wants it to be known that Mike John quit working for them, I have spoke with Mike three times since yesterday, I really don't know him, but on the phone he comes off as a pretty simple nice guy, It's obvious Mike John wants to own his own product, I feel honored he called me,I offered him ownership of his own product, I hope he takes my offer, I do have one concern, I release 4 movies a month now at Red Light District and now having Lexington and hopefully getting Mike John, I will put out 6 titles a month, I hope that isn't to much product from 1 company, I explained how important it is to film fresh new girls, so I believe if I come to a deal with Mike, we as a company will be doing alot of traveling to keep it fresh,I feel if Mike comes to RLD, It will only make us even stronger, I will keep you posted.

Beautiful work Dion. I think 6/month is a great idea. Hey man, you guys should think about working with that girl Carmen from XXX Road Trip 1 if you get back to Hungary. Keep up the good work. Later.

Thanx for the info, Mr. G! I think it would be fantastic if Mike does become a member of the RLD family and can continue the excellent work he's well-known for. Here's wishing you and Mike all the best!!!

Who is "they"? Dion, I posted the news out of my own volition. It was something I knew about for several days. There is no "they" at Lukeford.com. I am my own person and I post as I see fit.

I can only say that Mike John is a great friend and a class guy and I only wish him absolute success in whatever endeavor he searches out for himself in the future. I'm blessed that Mike is willing to work with me on some unannounced projects and his departure from Anabolic/Diabolic does not, in any way, hinder our projects.

I don't even need to say this, but the announcement will be the beginning of an industry-wide swarm for the best gonzo director in the business.

I wish the best of luck to everyone involved.

Dion, looks like you've taken on a big workload!

As far as Anabolic and Diabolic, I really believe that they'll bounce back just fine. As a small example, they easily replaced Christoph Clark with Jean Yves LeCastel several years back as Assman. It was different, but still strong. Best wishes to Chris and the whole crew.

Dion, Great work once again!!! You really have taken the initiative and once again you gave your company the oppertunity to improve. I too hope that he takes the offer and you release 7 or 8 titles a month instead. As far as the fresh talent, they will be out there. As long as you keep givin us fans the quality product you have been givin us, please keep the titles comin! The more RLD titles comin out right now the better. Dion, did you get my suggestion for a new RLD series in the thread below? I think it is a good idea. Any of your directors could do a good job in filming it. The series is a can't miss!!!

Bad Loss for Anabolic/Diabolic! Mike John
is one of the best shooters in all of Porn.

Is this now the popular trend where
directors will own the rights to
their own products?

If you guys sign him Dion, that would
be another great acquisition on your
part.

Coup!
Coup d'Etat!!
This is the beginning of the end!
Mike John was the MAN at Anabolic.
Unless they have some big TRixxx up the sleeve, this is it.
Rock on, Dion!!!

Stronker, i wouldn't say that one person is the MAN Anabolic.
I would say personally that it is a whole team all together.
With the loss of Mike at Anabolic i don't know what happens with them in the future, but i think that it isn't that bad as most think. yeah it's defenatly a loss, becouse a good team is falling appart but, as Tricia told, i'm sure they will bounce back with something good. As for Dion, I think it's verry good to release more RLD in the future. can't hardly wait to see them all ;)...

I wish you all good luck with this news...

Noooooooooooooooooo!

Mike John directs Down The Hatch and Oral Consumption. Those are my two favorite series. Mike John also directs my favorite IR series Up Your Ass. I take this news like a kick in the gut. My three favorite series getting flushed right before my eyes.

So much for 2003 being a great year in porn.

JWNL .... No, not ONE man, but let's simply say that Mike John was the guy who directed for Anabolic that I really dug. Him and Everhard. Director-wise, I don't think Lex or Dough are any big deal, and they can float beyond them ... (Lex is great performer, but I've seen nothing of his that impresses me behind the camera; and Dough is the hack whose boring set-ups and unimaginative shooting style have steadily driven me away from buying Anabolic/Diabolic product, though he has certainly crafted an original persona as an adult "star," and I'd certainly have a beer with him if I ran into him somewhere). But w/o John, Dough or Lex, who is left filming for them? John Strong. He's OK, but, really, that's all he is. Nice guy, I'm sure, but I'm not seeing any auteurs in that stable, if you gather my meaning. Here's hoping Erik can pull the weight. His stuff is definitely the best they got now, and it's a great chance for him to take the reins.

Also ....

I say, bring on Wanker Wang!
He is the future of porn!!!

Anabolic/Diabolic has been riding on past successes and past innovations, but has not been too concerned about the "wants" of the fans, directors, models, and crew. Anabolic used to run a tight ship with X releases a month and a website that accurately announced release dates at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance. A/D got distracted with their web site and were less than ideally considerate about their fans. Now the ship is becoming directionless midstream.

Yes, A/D can bounce back but they need to get their act together. They can do so by starting to work to please their fans and take all serious feedback seriously, instead of ignoring the feedback. The fans want simultaneous releases, regular updates (at least 3 weeks) of all releases, up-to-date information on all new releases, extremely rare failure to meet the release dates, good directing, editing, and camerawork, the latest and cutest babes, no reduction in production but rather increases and better productions, and the hard action that A/D made their reputation (more double anal for me -- I had to get that in somewhere). It means that A/D needs good production and scheduling managers. They may also want to consider giving ownership to directors because when Erik has cut his teeth enough, he might also be tempted to jump ship. They should also have more concern about the models' feelings if what Bella said about her GBG shoot is true.

I hope that A/D reads this message and take my comments seriously. I am not the only person to have voiced these negatives from A/D. Anabolic still makes excellent videos and I hope that they will bounce back and be bigger and better.

Holy Fucking Shit,

I woke up this morning, cruised on down to "world news & nonsense" forum, then stopped at "polls", finally I stopped here. Started from the bottom new thread, but looked to the top, and saw the title of this thread...

Mike John with RLD... what a fucking combo, Mike John was a very nice guy in Vegas, taking the time to get Judy Starr, and Aurora Snow's attention so I could snap the few photos I got of them.

I told him that I love his POV stuff, when he said he loved my reviews. If you get him, Dion, make sure he does POV, I know you may not like hearing this, but check out Perverted POV series, and see what I mean.

Damn, I hope this is true, but my wallet isn't liking this too much.

Good luck to all, and RLD, just over 1 year in the Biz, and already dominating, just don't forget about me Dion.

Wow. So it's true.

Congrats Dion and Mike-that is huge news for both of you. While I share the concern of many Anabolic/Diabolic fans over who's going to fill the shoes of the many talented people who have left lately, I can't wait to see what kind of stuff is coming our way from RLD in the coming months. Mike is indeed one of the best in the business.

Darth, I read what you had to say about a new Series for RLD, believe me if I make a deal with Mike John, Adultdvdtalk will be one of the first places I would want him to go, and see what the fans want to see, as you know with me the fans are always first, I still got to make this deal with him, I hope to update at some point today,Ronk believe me, Bella does what Bella wants to do, I believe Anabolic makes the best Gang Bangs ever, and I assure you Bella wasn't forced to do anything she didn't want to do, I like Bella alot, I know her very well, her sister works for me at RLD, Bella is a very sexually person, she changes like the wind, the only down fall with Bella is that she wants to make everyone happy, she truely is a very sweet friendly person, that's why we all love her, they followed her for 2 years, I feel Diane sawyer took advantage of her, and I believe bella was the wrong choice for this show, but believe me when Diane sawyer picked Bella, she new what she was doing, I would of liked to see her "Diane" interview the likes of a Tricia Devereaux or Jewel Deneyle, Diane might of got more than she could of bargained for, again I hope Mike John comes to RLD, I will keep you updated and for you Big Mike, I will never forget about you, your my Road Dog.

Her sister? How does she look? Same super-body like Bella? And tattoos? What film of RLD can I enjoy her in? Thank you for info.

Shameless, from what I undertstand, Bella's real-life sister does work for RLD but does not preform in any sex scenes. I'm sure Dion can provide you more info about what exactly Bella's sibling does for his company if he's so inclined but rest assured, she's not following in Bella's footsteps so to speak.

I wish Dion luck in signing Mike John as I know he would be an excellent director for RLD. As for Anabolic/ Diabolic I wish them well too. When I was at the show they had some really hot releases advertised so content wise they are looking good, it's just getting the dvds out in a timely fashion but that has been mentioned to death so there you go. Erik can do a fine job as his stuff always delivers for me, John Dough's stuff is kind of hit and miss with me but for the most part I like his product. For me right now it's Evil Angel, RLD, DVSX, then the Bolic twins in pretty much that order.

Maybe Jon Dough will go to red light also; I read that article at AVN too about him jumping out of ana/diabolic. Man, with Mike John at the Red Light, my choices for a company to follow are getting even smaller, now its strictly an evil angel/red light district consideration. Mike Johns work was the best stuff from ana/diabolic in my humble opinion. I can't wait to see the stuff he will put out for the red light. This is a great addition to an already strong stable of directors. lex at redlight also? its like a dream team.

I'm actually hoping these 3 departures will strengthen AnaDia. My favorite director there has been Erik, and Chris is probably my 2nd fav. With those 3 gone, Erik will hopefully pick up more of the work and I can't wait to see some of these titles (like Down The Hatch) as directed by Everhard!

I like Erik too but how many titles can he direct? Ana/Dia is going to have to hire new directors too pick up the slack. I think this does weaken them indeed. Lex is a huge star in the business and they let him go. Now they let go of two of there most active directors? I don't understand what is going on with Ana/Dia.

Jeez whats going on with Anabolic. Are they going out of business or something? Lex, John Dough, Mike John. Who's next Eric Everhard? Oh i know who's next...Cal!

RLD have made huge strides forward over the past month with those shock signings, lets hope they produce the goods. Mike John's Anabolic lines will be sorely missed...I hope he gets to take off from where he left.

I hope these shocks aren't a bad sign of things to come, I'm just worried that they are going to give up releasing all their stuff that isn't out on DVD yet. Maybe Dion will just buy them out.

I can't imagine how loosing one of the best directors in the industry in Mike John, another good director/performer in Jon Dough, and one of the top male performers in Lex could be construed as anything good for Anabolic/Diabolic. With Mike John leaving combined with Lex's earlier exit probably means the death of one of my favorite series in Up Your Ass. Even if the series does survive it will not be the same without Mike John shooting it. A/D is going to have to bring in a lot of new talent to replace the trio they lost both in front and behind the camera.

Unless the Raelians have secretly cloned Everhard then he is going to burn out trying to pick up all the slack for those guys. Good luck to both Red Light and A/D as they are 2 of the better companies in the industry. I am sure we will hear some news about A/D making moves soon but I am still waiting to see how they were going to make up for loosing Lex, adding these 2 losses should make any upcoming A/D news very interesting

Hi,
I hear you that was exactly what i was thinking. Regarding the amount of titles per month ... i think it´s too much from almost any company ... either those guys shoot without the need to edit or the editors don´t need food and sleep. I can´t work as much as i need to for all those great titles from all those companies.

Hi,
Maybe A/D will go down even b4 Extreme hits the ground who knows ?

If you don´t give the ´guys´ the rights to their own product that´s what´s gonna happen. If i´m not mistaken a Mr. P. C. had to learn this too (when 4 of his ´guys´ went away).

Ya got that right cubesnake. The times they are a changin'.
I think the directors got an idea that these movies are making some nice coin and decided it was time to cut out the middleman and move to a place where they can own their own stuff, or start up thier own companies and own their own stuff (i.e. Platinum X)

dion-i think hiring lex & mike will pay off for you with a nice increase in overall sales, without harming the sales of the good stuff you already have. most of what i bought from ana/diabolic was mike's. i would buy mike's stuff if he was at rld or diabolic so rld will get an even bigger share of my porn budget now!

Uhh....I don't understand this deal "ownership."
Let's say I'm a director for hire. Call me
RCA-MAN. I come to RedLight. I ask my
normal fee of $$$$. You sell 2500 units.
The product is too hard for a cable sale.
There is no catalog sale.

What good is "ownership" and when does it take
effect? After x amount of units?

Let's say I direct a movie called Taboo and Red
Light sells it for one dollar a copy and the
movie has an enduring life cycle and sells 1 million
units in ten years. Redlight is still around
in ten years but partners have split. New people
are running things. I'm still RCA-MAN, I've got
some gray in my hair and I'm looking at my
AVN award on the kitchen table. I was paid $1000
to direct Taboo in one day ten years ago
for Red Light. How much money have I made from Taboo?

Yeah, as long as the quality of the movies aren't hurt by this addition, I think this is great for RLD. It's too bad about A/D, but it's kind of cool to know at this point that RLD and Evil Angel are "sure bets". By that I just mean you know you'll get quality product every time. I heard someone before say Vince might get booted out at RLD, b/c he's the least talented of their directors. I really like his work, and personally I think you could make the case he's their best director. He's got an unteachable talent for going out and finding fresh, new women for his movies. I like that! He has a few small shortcomings in his work, but that could change w/time. Anyways, I read someone mentioned a company, DVSX, as one of their favorite companies. I was wondering, does anyone know anything about them? What kind of movies do they do? Do they have any contract girls? Let me know. Thanks!

Whoa everyone! I NEVER said we're hiring Erik.

And for the record, we LOVE Lex too. As far as I know, Lex has appeared in FAR more Evil Angel movies than Erik has. He would have been in even more if more girls could handle Lex in anal scenes.

But again, for the record, I did NOT say we're hiring Erik. We have not even spoken to Erik about what his plans are, and to tell you the truth, I haven't heard anything about him actually leaving Anabolic/Diabolic.

Lex makes great movies, as does Erik. However, right now at Evil Angel, we're thrilled with the people we do have. Taking on a new director is A LOT of work. Especially one that doesn't do his own editing.
When Jules came here, he didn't do his own editing, but he sat in on a lot of the edit sessions and had final cut. Now, he's doing most of the editing completely by himself.

I know Lex will be great for RLD. (As will Mike John if he does indeed go there.) As for Erik, whatever he does, I hope that he's happy. Both he and Lex are friends that I will always love.

Captain Mac-
I'm not sure about exactly how RLD handles it, but at Evil Angel, each director maintains FULL ownership of his product.

That means that if he ever goes to another company, he can take his movies with him to that company.
Ownership starts from day one, as he is the one who finances the videos from the start and pays for all aspects of production.

Evil Angel is considered a primary distributor. That is, we handle marketing and selling of the videos/DVDs for our current directors, and from the money collected for those sales, Evil Angel receives what is considered a sales commission percentage. Everything on top of that percentage goes DIRECTLY to the producer/director.

I'm glad to hear that :-)
But how about taking an old one back: Thomas Zupko himself. I still can't believe and understand why Stagliano fired him and I also believe Zupko showed Stagliano was wrong for doing that by making some great movies for Extreme. The Buttman works in mysterious ways.
