Heather Hunter and Ebony Sinclaire (though I'm not sure that was the name she went under for Vivid) that I know of. I think Heather was their most successful black contract star. Wicked and Digital Playground have none that I know of. I don't know much about Wicked as I have never liked their films. Digital Playground is always looking for max profitability from every girl they sign. They own the girl, their name, and just about everything they do. And they like as wide a market as possible and don't know how to promote a black woman to get that wide market net they like. I'm pretty sure Robbie D, one of DPs directors, isn't a racist. I believe he has shot plenty of black talent in the past when he was doing straight gonzo. I'm not sure about Celeste. She doesn't seem to use much black talent at all. I'm assuming the biggest driver of the lack of interracial scenes is the actual contract stars themselves. Girls like Jesse Jane, Riley Steele, and the like don't want to do black guys. Probably don't do them off screen either. Video Team, one of the biggest producers of black porn, tried contract stars and failed. The market for a black female performer may be more difficult to penetrate given that white males are the primary porn consumer. Black males are not heavy drivers of the porn market, which would be the primary audience for black female porn. Video Team had Lacey Duvalle under contract and couldn't make her into a megastar and she's about as hot as a woman gets of any color. She had the type of body even a white male wouldn't be intimidated by and a gorgeous face. It's not just black women being excluded from high end contract status the like of Jesse Jane and Jenna Jameson. Latina women that look too Latin and Asian women that look too Asian are also often left out in the cold alot of the time or are lesser tier contract stars. Much of it due to market conditions. It's obvious the most marketable contract girls are blondes. DP, Wicked, and Vivid have all had a great deal of success with blonde contract stars. So that is what they continue to use as their primary contract stars. I know Digital Playground was avoiding a certain segment of the market early on. They avoided the hardcore gonzo market early on as they tried to take porn mainstream with their hardcore, straight sex movies with blonde, girl next door types as their big stars. But even Digital Playground started to see that the hardcore gonzo porn audience is the most loyal to porn and they are the consumers that will spend the most money on porn each year. So they started gonzo lines and start to put more hardcore sex like anal in their movies. And were looking for contract stars willing to engage in harder core acts but with contract girl looks like Teagan. It's been interesting to watch. I wonder if Digital Playground will ever sign and promote a black female contract star. If they do and succceed, that will open doors for others. I'm not sure if Vivid's failure to do so with anyone besides Heather Hunter and Video Team's failure with Lacy Duvalle have affected industry attitudes. There have been black female contract stars, so companies like Digital Playground do have people they can ask about profitability and marketing. But I wonder if black female contract stars have been as profitable as the blondes. I know Heather Hunter was big. Vivid had to have made money off her. But I'm not sure Ebony Sinclaire ever blew up. Which may or may not have been due to her exposure to the gonzo market, which also affects profitability. For example, who is going to watch Teagan do straight sex when they can pick up a Jules Jordan movie and watch her get hardcore with anal and douple penetration? Things like that affect a girl's profitabilty and thus a company's decision to sign her or retain her as a contract girl. I'd love to see some of the industry honchoes discuss these things openly. I know there are probably alot of racists in the porn industry. Of that I have no doubt. But I don't think guys like Vivid's Steve Hirsch is racist or the folks that head Digital Playground. I think their biggest concern is money. How much they have to put in compared to how much they will get out. If that amount isn't good enough for them, they won't do it out of a sense of fair play or equal rights. If the dollars are there, they'll do it. I'd love to know how much the owner of Video Team (I can't remember his name) made with the Lacy Duvalle contract. I'd love to know how Vivid did with Heather Hunter and Ebony Sinclair. That might explain some of the decision making in the industry. [Link]

Vivid have has at least 4 females with African blood as contract girls the 2 you mention plus Tiffany Mason who became Maya and a girl from Canada name Malezia. I think Monica is right, why would you want to give up everything you build to turn it over to Vivid. As far as Lavish is concern she don't do black guys so what's the point in making her a contract girl if she dosn't do her own kind, or maybe she might fit in well with vivid cause she don't do black guys. I think this is actually a better movie than the first one but we will soon find out what the fans and critics think. I don't recall Malezia. I forgot about Maya/Tiffany Mason. She was super light skinned. Did she blow up? Seemed like she did a handful of scenes for Vivid and was gone quickly. I wasn't watching Vivid too much during that period. They make very boring films for a different market than I watch. I watched Vivid back when they had Ginger Lynn and Jamie Summers. Heather Hunter was just coming up. The only reason I knew about Ebony Sinclaire is because she did gonzo first. I like her English accent. It was adorable. Yeah. Vivid has probably been the best about signing diverse contract stars. Maybe Digital Playground is led by a racist. I know I've heard bad things about Wicked as far as race is concerned, especially Jenna's ex. I don't buy movies from those companies. I buy movies from companies that do use black female talent because I like black females. No one has been happier than I with the up and coming black female stars that are into freaky, hardcore sex like Marie Luv and Kapri Styles. For a while there, there was a dearth of black female stars getting really freaky. I'm from the days where you had only a handful of freaky, hot black female contract stars getting wild on camera. The most well known from when I was young was Jeannie Pepper and Sahara with maybe Purple Passion behind them. The honest truth is alot of white men are not attracted to black women for a variety of reasons, some of it straight up fear and probably intimidation that black women sleep with black men due to the whole dick size thing. I've always been surprised by the number of white men that can ignore a hot black woman when she walks by. How can you ignore an ass like that or an adorable face? I have no idea. Then again many of these same white men don't like dark skinned Latin women or Asian women either. If they're the ones spending the most money on porn, then what are you going to do? Force feed movies into the system your primary audience won't buy? I have no idea how many guys like myself would welcome a black female contract star. I know I would be bored as hell if all she did was screw on camera like Jesse or Riley. If a female porn star isn't getting hardcore freaky, then I tend to watch a few scenes and move on. Like Isis Taylor was hot enough for a few scenes and so is Monica. But if the freakiness don't come, I'm out. If I were going to bet money on a current black contract girl with minimal exposure, I'd probably snap up Catalina Taylor. She's young. Hot as hell. When I first entered the business, I actually had a meeting with someone at Wicked Pictures. I was very excited about the meeting and was hoping to be booked in at least one of their movies. Unfortunately I wasn't right for them. In fact the man I interviewed with went as far as to ask me "why did you enter porn being as OLD as you are?" (I was 29 at the time and he said this in a VERY condescending tone) - That meeting, paired with another individual I met who worked at that studio caused me to no longer be impressed with Wicked Pictures. If Wicked was REALLY looking for a black contract girl, if I wasn't right there are MANY others in porn who are black but younger, lighter, darker, faker, etc. They still don't have one if you notice.... If studios like Wicked, Vivid and Adam and Eve were seriously seeking a black contract star, they'd have one - that's the bottom line. They don't currently, because THEY DON'T WANT ONE. It's not that black and IR porn doesn't sell. The problem is you have a lot of people working in the porn industry who are closet racists. People can counter this all they want, but I've witnessed and experienced this FACT first hand. Racism stems from lack of education and unfortunately the porn industry isn't exactly filled with the brightest and most educated of people. Don't get me wrong, some people who work in porn ARE very intelligent, but the majority are not. I'll note, it's not necessarily studio heads/owners/directors who have the racist attitudes - it's the talent. Both female AND male. Many talents throw "temper tantrums" at the mere THOUGHT of performing with a black person. Generally only because 1) they can get away with it (the studios want to keep these performers happy being that they are CONTRACTED to do a certain amount of films generally and it's easier to work with a happy talent than a bitchy one) and 2) it's really the only "power" that many talents have in their arsenal - which is sad. Most talents do not feel good about themselves to begin with so since they don't have much to cling on to to feel "better" than someone else, they default back to "white is right - black ain't right". I've had 2 male talents walk off set on me for bogus reasons - both were white males who clearly have racial issues. One day I'll name them, but not today. To conclude, at this point in the game, I'm better off NOT being a contract girl. Why in the hell would I turn over my name, my brand, my websites, my image and everything I've created and maintain 100% independently to some studio who's sales are steadily declining due to the economy and tube sites? Why would I want to work with any studio that didn't think I was good enough to begin with and who's mentality is that of those who agreed with segregation years ago. I will be competition to Wicked, Vivid and Adam & Eve in a few years most likely - so working for any of those people is no longer a priority. A few of my current goals are to become a director and run a studio/label of my own that is FORWARD thinking. Not borderline mentally impaired and stuck in the past. The only way I'd work for any of the above mentioned studios, would be if I was offered a VERY sizable signing bonus and contract. I don't foresee any of these studios being able to foot the bill I'd require to be paid. Honestly - in hindsight, when I think back to the first time I saw a talent sheet at my first agency that had a check box for whether or not I as a talent would perform in interracial (IR) scenes, I should have walked out and started only shooting for and working for MYSELF right then and there. I talk to so many people who try to tell me the kinds of dealings you've had inside the industry, simply don't exist or they try to seriously downplay everything. Some simply don't care, which I suppose is their right and ignorance. I really feel that black female performers are gonna have to start (collectively) to try to edge their way deeper into the industry. The Adam & Eve's, Wicked's, Digital Playgrounds, and Vivid's to a lesser extent, aren't ever gonna truly let you inside their narrow worlds. I think it's time to really drop any pretense that they ever really will. You women of color are simply gonna have to make it cinematically happen by thinking as big and as broad as they do. A good example of some feel-good BF/WM porn is Van Styles' "Slippin' Into Darkness #2", featuring a scene with Monica as well as scenes with Aryana Starr, Nina Devon, Baby Cakes, Bella Moretti, and Mahlia Milian (blowjob-only in the "extras"). Wow, strong statement.
Vivid has had two American women of African descent as contract girls. Heather Hunter and Ebony Sinclaire (though I'm not sure that was the name she went under for Vivid) that I know of. I think Heather was their most successful black contract star.
Wicked and Digital Playground have none that I know of. I don't know much about Wicked as I have never liked their films.
Digital Playground is always looking for max profitability from every girl they sign. They own the girl, their name, and just about everything they do. And they like as wide a market as possible and don't know how to promote a black woman to get that wide market net they like. I'm pretty sure Robbie D, one of DPs directors, isn't a racist. I believe he has shot plenty of black talent in the past when he was doing straight gonzo. I'm not sure about Celeste. She doesn't seem to use much black talent at all. I'm assuming the biggest driver of the lack of interracial scenes is the actual contract stars themselves. Girls like Jesse Jane, Riley Steele, and the like don't want to do black guys. Probably don't do them off screen either.
Video Team, one of the biggest producers of black porn, tried contract stars and failed. The market for a black female performer may be more difficult to penetrate given that white males are the primary porn consumer. Black males are not heavy drivers of the porn market, which would be the primary audience for black female porn. Video Team had Lacey Duvalle under contract and couldn't make her into a megastar and she's about as hot as a woman gets of any color. She had the type of body even a white male wouldn't be intimidated by and a gorgeous face.
It's not just black women being excluded from high end contract status the like of Jesse Jane and Jenna Jameson. Latina women that look too Latin and Asian women that look too Asian are also often left out in the cold alot of the time or are lesser tier contract stars. Much of it due to market conditions.
It's obvious the most marketable contract girls are blondes. DP, Wicked, and Vivid have all had a great deal of success with blonde contract stars. So that is what they continue to use as their primary contract stars.
I know Digital Playground was avoiding a certain segment of the market early on. They avoided the hardcore gonzo market early on as they tried to take porn mainstream with their hardcore, straight sex movies with blonde, girl next door types as their big stars. But even Digital Playground started to see that the hardcore gonzo porn audience is the most loyal to porn and they are the consumers that will spend the most money on porn each year. So they started gonzo lines and start to put more hardcore sex like anal in their movies. And were looking for contract stars willing to engage in harder core acts but with contract girl looks like Teagan.
It's been interesting to watch. I wonder if Digital Playground will ever sign and promote a black female contract star. If they do and succceed, that will open doors for others. I'm not sure if Vivid's failure to do so with anyone besides Heather Hunter and Video Team's failure with Lacy Duvalle have affected industry attitudes. There have been black female contract stars, so companies like Digital Playground do have people they can ask about profitability and marketing. But I wonder if black female contract stars have been as profitable as the blondes.
I know Heather Hunter was big. Vivid had to have made money off her. But I'm not sure Ebony Sinclaire ever blew up. Which may or may not have been due to her exposure to the gonzo market, which also affects profitability. For example, who is going to watch Teagan do straight sex when they can pick up a Jules Jordan movie and watch her get hardcore with anal and douple penetration? Things like that affect a girl's profitabilty and thus a company's decision to sign her or retain her as a contract girl.
I'd love to see some of the industry honchoes discuss these things openly. I know there are probably alot of racists in the porn industry. Of that I have no doubt. But I don't think guys like Vivid's Steve Hirsch is racist or the folks that head Digital Playground. I think their biggest concern is money. How much they have to put in compared to how much they will get out. If that amount isn't good enough for them, they won't do it out of a sense of fair play or equal rights. If the dollars are there, they'll do it.
I'd love to know how much the owner of Video Team (I can't remember his name) made with the Lacy Duvalle contract. I'd love to know how Vivid did with Heather Hunter and Ebony Sinclair. That might explain some of the decision making in the industry.

Vivid have has at least 4 females with African blood as contract girls the 2 you mention plus Tiffany Mason who became Maya and a girl from Canada name Malezia. I think Monica is right, why would you want to give up everything you build to turn it over to Vivid. As far as Lavish is concern she don't do black guys so what's the point in making her a contract girl if she dosn't do her own kind, or maybe she might fit in well with vivid cause she don't do black guys.

Bit of an asshole remark to start it off. Gee. I forgot two of Vivid's contract stars. Oh no.
I don't recall Malezia. I forgot about Maya/Tiffany Mason. She was super light skinned. Did she blow up? Seemed like she did a handful of scenes for Vivid and was gone quickly.
I wasn't watching Vivid too much during that period. They make very boring films for a different market than I watch. I watched Vivid back when they had Ginger Lynn and Jamie Summers. Heather Hunter was just coming up. The only reason I knew about Ebony Sinclaire is because she did gonzo first. I like her English accent. It was adorable.
Yeah. Vivid has probably been the best about signing diverse contract stars. Maybe Digital Playground is led by a racist. I know I've heard bad things about Wicked as far as race is concerned, especially Jenna's ex.
I don't buy movies from those companies. I buy movies from companies that do use black female talent because I like black females. No one has been happier than I with the up and coming black female stars that are into freaky, hardcore sex like Marie Luv and Kapri Styles. For a while there, there was a dearth of black female stars getting really freaky. I'm from the days where you had only a handful of freaky, hot black female contract stars getting wild on camera. The most well known from when I was young was Jeannie Pepper and Sahara with maybe Purple Passion behind them.
The honest truth is alot of white men are not attracted to black women for a variety of reasons, some of it straight up fear and probably intimidation that black women sleep with black men due to the whole dick size thing. I've always been surprised by the number of white men that can ignore a hot black woman when she walks by. How can you ignore an ass like that or an adorable face? I have no idea. Then again many of these same white men don't like dark skinned Latin women or Asian women either. If they're the ones spending the most money on porn, then what are you going to do? Force feed movies into the system your primary audience won't buy?
I have no idea how many guys like myself would welcome a black female contract star. I know I would be bored as hell if all she did was screw on camera like Jesse or Riley. If a female porn star isn't getting hardcore freaky, then I tend to watch a few scenes and move on. Like Isis Taylor was hot enough for a few scenes and so is Monica. But if the freakiness don't come, I'm out.
If I were going to bet money on a current black contract girl with minimal exposure, I'd probably snap up Catalina Taylor. She's young. Hot as hell. Almost has a Rihanna-like face and an unbelievable body. If a company like DP couldn't sell her, they just aren't trying very hard.

As a matter of fact, my agent wouldn't book me for work that was below the industry standard rates, which is why I haven't been booked very often being that over 50% of the porn studios out there for whatever reason feel that it's "OK" to pay African-American talent less than their counterparts.
When I first entered the business, I actually had a meeting with someone at Wicked Pictures. I was very excited about the meeting and was hoping to be booked in at least one of their movies. Unfortunately I wasn't right for them. In fact the man I interviewed with went as far as to ask me "why did you enter porn being as OLD as you are?" (I was 29 at the time and he said this in a VERY condescending tone) - That meeting, paired with another individual I met who worked at that studio caused me to no longer be impressed with Wicked Pictures. If Wicked was REALLY looking for a black contract girl, if I wasn't right there are MANY others in porn who are black but younger, lighter, darker, faker, etc. They still don't have one if you notice....
If studios like Wicked, Vivid and Adam and Eve were seriously seeking a black contract star, they'd have one - that's the bottom line. They don't currently, because THEY DON'T WANT ONE.
It's not that black and IR porn doesn't sell. The problem is you have a lot of people working in the porn industry who are closet racists. People can counter this all they want, but I've witnessed and experienced this FACT first hand.
Racism stems from lack of education and unfortunately the porn industry isn't exactly filled with the brightest and most educated of people. Don't get me wrong, some people who work in porn ARE very intelligent, but the majority are not.
I'll note, it's not necessarily studio heads/owners/directors who have the racist attitudes - it's the talent. Both female AND male. Many talents throw "temper tantrums" at the mere THOUGHT of performing with a black person. Generally only because 1) they can get away with it (the studios want to keep these performers happy being that they are CONTRACTED to do a certain amount of films generally and it's easier to work with a happy talent than a bitchy one) and 2) it's really the only "power" that many talents have in their arsenal - which is sad. Most talents do not feel good about themselves to begin with so since they don't have much to cling on to to feel "better" than someone else, they default back to "white is right - black ain't right".
I've had 2 male talents walk off set on me for bogus reasons - both were white males who clearly have racial issues. One day I'll name them, but not today.
To conclude, at this point in the game, I'm better off NOT being a contract girl. Why in the hell would I turn over my name, my brand, my websites, my image and everything I've created and maintain 100% independently to some studio who's sales are steadily declining due to the economy and tube sites? Why would I want to work with any studio that didn't think I was good enough to begin with and who's mentality is that of those who agreed with segregation years ago.
I will be competition to Wicked, Vivid and Adam & Eve in a few years most likely - so working for any of those people is no longer a priority.
A few of my current goals are to become a director and run a studio/label of my own that is FORWARD thinking. Not borderline mentally impaired and stuck in the past.
The only way I'd work for any of the above mentioned studios, would be if I was offered a VERY sizable signing bonus and contract. I don't foresee any of these studios being able to foot the bill I'd require to be paid.
Honestly - in hindsight, when I think back to the first time I saw a talent sheet at my first agency that had a check box for whether or not I as a talent would perform in interracial (IR) scenes, I should have walked out and started only shooting for and working for MYSELF right then and there.
The only one true race is HUMAN.

Monica I'd just like to say your entire post there brought a smile to my face. I talk to so many people who try to tell me the kinds of dealings you've had inside the industry, simply don't exist or they try to seriously downplay everything. Some simply don't care, which I suppose is their right and ignorance. I really feel that black female performers are gonna have to start (collectively) to try to edge their way deeper into the industry. The Adam & Eve's, Wicked's, Digital Playgrounds, and Vivid's to a lesser extent, aren't ever gonna truly let you inside their narrow worlds. I think it's time to really drop any pretense that they ever really will. You women of color are simply gonna have to make it cinematically happen by thinking as big and as broad as they do. Doubt it'll be easy. Few things we truly want in life, ever are. Patience can be a damn good friend though.

Ok so let me get this straight. Us white males are the buying consumer of porn mainly. So why does a white guy get off when he watches a black guy fuck a white chick?

I don't recall Malezia. I forgot about Maya/Tiffany Mason. She was super light skinned. Did she blow up? Seemed like she did a handful of scenes for Vivid and was gone quickly.

I don't buy movies from those companies. I buy movies from companies that do use black female talent because I like black females. No one has been happier than I with the up and coming black female stars that are into freaky, hardcore sex like Marie Luv and Kapri Styles. For a while there, there was a dearth of black female stars getting really freaky. I'm from the days where you had only a handful of freaky, hot black female contract stars getting wild on camera. The most well known from when I was young was Jeannie Pepper and Sahara with maybe Purple Passion behind them.

I've only shot around 35 adult scenes total (though I've done thousands of solo webcam shows)- I will most likely hold off on shooting any more b/g scenes until I am able to launch my own adult (mainstream crossover) studio/label - it's taking some time due to my financing my ventures 100% independently, but in time I'll achieve my goal.
I would be open to shooting for other studio if the project is something particularly appealing or unique, but as of current I'm not actively seeking work as an adult actress with other studios.

Because of that, however, the owners have to be careful not to run afoul of the numerous federal statutes regulating (and creating criminal liability) for internet porn. So in the minds of most people who can't handle that = bitch. I have no doubt she can stand up for herself in a way a 19 year old never could and a lot of people in the industry would prefer their porn girls pliant and easily controlled.
As for the IR debate, all you need to look at is the number of white guys openly drooling over Beyonce, Rihanna, Halle and Ciara to know black women have tremendous sex appeal to white men like they never did when I was growing up in the 80s. Monica, Bella and Audree all have me watching American porn for the first time in ages and being remind of why I hate it in the first place. "Ghetto Gaggers?" "Whitezilla is Bigga Than a Nigga?" "Black Chicks on Cracka Dicks?" Who the hell are the bigots now?
I think WM/BF porn could sell like hotcakes if it latches on to the mainstream sex appeal of girls like Rihanna, whose act is damn close to porn as it is. First thing you gotta do is take the ghetto/thug bullshit OUT of the porn. I suspect Monica will do a better job than most of the men who run the studios.

I agree 100%. Get the ghetto/thug thing out of all porn. I hate it.
And Monica certainly has mainstream sex appeal.
A good example of some feel-good BF/WM porn is Van Styles' "Slippin' Into Darkness #2", featuring a scene with Monica as well as scenes with Aryana Starr, Nina Devon, Baby Cakes, Bella Moretti, and Mahlia Milian (blowjob-only in the "extras").
Monica's tease/chat session with Van is charming/fun and her scene with Marco Banderas is great.
I have to admit that I wasn't crazy about the title. The other thing I didn't like was Van's recurring question to each female peformer, "Do you like white boys?" It struck me as a touch degrading to everyone involved. And just kind of annoying. But it was still a very entertaining, wood-inducing video.
Anyway, only two volumes of Van's BF/WM series have been produced, and #2 was released back in October 2008. It's really a shame that there haven't been more of them.
