Click to expand A couple more comments. There are many very vocal fans who say that condoms "spoil" sex scenes for them. So porn production companies are responding to this complaint. And, as long as there is some testing going on, the companies can say they're trying to protect the performers' health. Plus, the entire industry is willing to use the "performers are adults, and can make their own decisions about any health risks" rationale to justify its actions. On the other hand, there are a number of people in the industry who will take a stand against practices that put people's health at risk. When Vivid went to it's "condom optional" policy in 2005 [and lost several of it's contract girls], they also lost one of their contract directors, Chi Chi LaRue, who openly stated his objections and said, because he had lost some friends to HI-V, he could not continue to work for Vivid under this new policy. Even if fans are okay with bareback sex scenes, they can respect Chi Chi's commitment to his principals. Of course, Vivid has been able to hire many veteran and new directors who are willing to direct multiple performer scenes (including anal) with no condoms. Bottom line: the industry has a very strong profit motive to produce sex scenes without condoms. [Link]

So, her going bareback seems to have gained her benefits with her bosses. I guess this puts an end to those rumors about Monique wanting to get out of her contract. As I said on another thread, Monique appears to be the "last girl standing" from the once very impressive Vivid Girls line-up that included Lexie Marie, Stefani Morgan, Brea Lynn, and Kayden Kross. When have they ever really ever promoted a girl? Monique was on an episode HBO's hit show Entourage this year I dont remember seeing one press release from Vivid about that just not their style. While on the other hand when DP's girls Teagan, Jesse and Devon Entourage appearence or Wicked's Kristen Price Weeds appearenceand and Stormy's Dirt appearence those companies couldnt stop talking about it. While being a Vivid girl does allow Monique do appearences that maybe she would not get other wise she has never been one to go out and promote herself much. As far as Vivid starring her in their big budget films that doesnt mean much either. I guess she might be the 25th girl to get to play "Debbie" while pairing her up with the weekest male talent in the industry and directers that can't come up with an original idea on their own. My point is that Vivid doesn't have another performer currently on their payroll that can be counted on to sell more than Monique. It's a simple business decision from their standpoint to continue with a known quantity (Monique) while they see where the biz is going. Hell...by this time next year, there may be no dvd market at all. I don't really see anyone else on the Vivid playing field. Do you? If you're thinking Briana Banks...I don't know she's back for more than a couple of videos. Plus a strong argument can be made that Briana's "best scenes" are all behind her. [Of course, Vivid could announce some Big Name signing at AEE in January.] Yes, Digital Playground has (in the past) done a much better job of marketing their stars than Vivid. My point is that was when Vivid had a half dozen girls under contract. That's not the case now. I know Vivid is not very popular with most fans on this board, or elsewhere, but like Vivid or not they ALWAYS get a huge number of AVN nominations. And, if they decide, in 2008, to focus their clout (and money) behind a single girl, like they did for Savanna Samson in past years, that girl will win awards. AVN Awards equal status within the industry, and is a career boost for any performer. To get back on topic: if Monique receives increased marketing (as appears to be happening) in exchange for doing bareback vag and anal scenes, then she may feel it worth the health gamble. [Link]

There may still be some unreleased Savanna sexvids in Vivid's vault (Hell, they probably still have some unreleased Jamie Summers scenes), but that's not the same thing as Monique turning out fresh scenes every few months. Sunny's first b/g will do very well. But if she continues to only do b/g with her boyfriend, the sales will drop. Also, and not to take anything away from Sunny, Monique has always had a very strong fan base--dating back to her early g/g only days. Remember, Monique had a contract with Sin City videos, just to do g/g/. These are the fans that Vivid is still courting by keeping Monique under contract, and I don't think Sunny's fanbase is as deep. I believe there are many more "occasional fans" (including couples) who buy and watch a few porn videos every year. And these fans buy Vivid's product. Vivid DOES sell more sexvids than anyone else. They intentionally make sexvids for the "mass market." The porn websites, that have much "harder" and extreme sex than Vivid produces, is the place where hardcore fans find product they like. IMO, these two different delivery systems (dvds vs. internet websites) are splitting the porn customer base. Which is NOT a bad thing. Bottom line: Vivid, Digital Playground and Wicked etc. will continue to win the AVN-type awards because these awards are dvd-focused. But I expect to see, very soon, another major porn awards event created that will be for web-based porn ONLY. And Vivid and the others will NOT win these new awards. IMO the porn business is not "dying" as some people are predicting, it's just "splitting" into two. When you take into account that Monique has been in porn for about five years, and that she's already done about everything (IR, anal) except gangbangs, chances are the "best" years of her career are now behind her. Monique has also told people that she plans on ending her career at Vivid. Currently, she's under contract with Vivid until the end of this year--and may have already performed all of her contracted-for scenes. And, for once, the time-shifting actually works, the camera work and editing is effective--in serving the video's storyline. There was another thread about Monique's first anal scene in "Call Girl Confidential" that was released a few months ago. In that scene Marcos Leon didn't wear a condom, even though in all of Monique's other scenes in this same video the males wore condoms. With reports that many performers have had/do have a STD, I was critical of Monique's choice to do an anal bareback.
Monique may be getting pressure from Vivid to work without condoms, but in return they are giving her the choice promotional opportunities. She's representing the company at a NYC New Year's Eve event, and they sent her to an event in Europe last summer. So there's definitely a reason for her to have changed her mind about condoms.

A couple more comments.
There are many very vocal fans who say that condoms "spoil" sex scenes for them. So porn production companies are responding to this complaint. And, as long as there is some testing going on, the companies can say they're trying to protect the performers' health. Plus, the entire industry is willing to use the "performers are adults, and can make their own decisions about any health risks" rationale to justify its actions.
On the other hand, there are a number of people in the industry who will take a stand against practices that put people's health at risk. When Vivid went to it's "condom optional" policy in 2005 [and lost several of it's contract girls], they also lost one of their contract directors, Chi Chi LaRue, who openly stated his objections and said, because he had lost some friends to HI-V, he could not continue to work for Vivid under this new policy. Even if fans are okay with bareback sex scenes, they can respect Chi Chi's commitment to his principals. Of course, Vivid has been able to hire many veteran and new directors who are willing to direct multiple performer scenes (including anal) with no condoms.
Bottom line: the industry has a very strong profit motive to produce sex scenes without condoms.

I guess this puts an end to those rumors about Monique wanting to get out of her contract. As I said on another thread, Monique appears to be the "last girl standing" from the once very impressive Vivid Girls line-up that included Lexie Marie, Stefani Morgan, Brea Lynn, and Kayden Kross. She's the only reliable star that Vivid has who can sell sexvids and represent the company at top events, like the up-coming NYC New Year's Eve Party.

According to Tee Reeel's myspace blog he just shot a scene with her for a movie called "American Swinger" Its really to sad this girl had some much star potential when she first signed on with Vivid and they have never had the right idea on marketing her. It seems they are now pushing her now as Vivid's resident interracial contract girl. The funny thing about it is she will catch shit by fans that are against the whole interracial stuff while catching shit from the interracial fans for doing two recent scenes with Tee Reel and Tyler Knight that they find unacceptable

So if they have a contract girl (like Monique) who is comfortable doing IR, they push that aspect of her sexuality. And I agree, many IR fans will not like any scenes from Vivid, plus Monique may lose some fans who don't like IR.
On the other hand, given that Vivid is still the 800 pound gorilla in the porn biz, being their #1 Girl is NOT a bad thing. While Vivid will probably put her in dozens of uninspired product like they did with Tawny Roberts, at least Monique (unlike Tawny) will also get to Star in Vivid's Big Productions. Because Monique doesn't have to deal with Savanna Samson still being under contract. And Vivid always starred Savanna in their most expensive, top quality sexvids--and wouldn't promote their new, up-and-coming girls by starring them in their Big Feature Productions.
Bottom Line: With the chance to star in some Big Productions for Vivid, Monique could win some AVNs over the next couple of years. And that will be very good for Monique's career in post-Jenna era.

I really dont get where you say she is their #1 girl and as far as you saying she will receive alot promotion from Vivid now I doubt that as well. When have they ever really ever promoted a girl? Monique was on an episode HBO's hit show Entourage this year I dont remember seeing one press release from Vivid about that just not their style. While on the other hand when DP's girls Teagan, Jesse and Devon Entourage appearence or Wicked's Kristen Price Weeds appearenceand and Stormy's Dirt appearence those companies couldnt stop talking about it. While being a Vivid girl does allow Monique do appearences that maybe she would not get other wise she has never been one to go out and promote herself much. As far as Vivid starring her in their big budget films that doesnt mean much either. I guess she might be the 25th girl to get to play "Debbie" while pairing her up with the weekest male talent in the industry and directers that can't come up with an original idea on their own. Now to her appearring in alot of IR scenes yes she will lose some fans will the number gained by doing IR be greater than those lost maybe if they put her with bigger name performers.

In my earlier post I said Monique is the "last girl standing." That's why she's Vivid's #1 Girl, IMO. I don't really see anyone else on the Vivid playing field. Do you? If you're thinking Briana Banks...I don't know she's back for more than a couple of videos. Plus a strong argument can be made that Briana's "best scenes" are all behind her. [Of course, Vivid could announce some Big Name signing at AEE in January.]
Yes, Digital Playground has (in the past) done a much better job of marketing their stars than Vivid. My point is that was when Vivid had a half dozen girls under contract. That's not the case now.
I know Vivid is not very popular with most fans on this board, or elsewhere, but like Vivid or not they ALWAYS get a huge number of AVN nominations. And, if they decide, in 2008, to focus their clout (and money) behind a single girl, like they did for Savanna Samson in past years, that girl will win awards. AVN Awards equal status within the industry, and is a career boost for any performer.
To get back on topic: if Monique receives increased marketing (as appears to be happening) in exchange for doing bareback vag and anal scenes, then she may feel it worth the health gamble.

I'm of the belief that Savanna is no longer active. She's in NYC doing her wine thing, and other non-porn things. There may still be some unreleased Savanna sexvids in Vivid's vault (Hell, they probably still have some unreleased Jamie Summers scenes), but that's not the same thing as Monique turning out fresh scenes every few months.
But, if Savanna is still making new videos for Vivid, then I agree, she will outsell Monique--in part because Vivid will put Savanna in their most expensive, best promoted videos. BTW, I'm not sure how big a role Savanna has in Vivid's "New Devil in Miss Jones"? I thought this was Belladonna's video.
One more point. Savanna is the "role model" of loyalty to Vivid. Whenever Vivid moved in a new direction (IR, no condoms) Savanna was first to embrace these changes and performed these new scenes. In fact, Savanna is the only Vivid Girl to ever perform in a gangbang for Vivid (in "Savanna Samson SuperStar").
Of the younger, twentysomething Vivid Girls that were under contract from 2004/05 era, Monique was the one they could count on to go with any changes the company wanted.
Bottom line & getting back on topic: both Savanna & Monique are loyal to Vivid, and are being rewarded for it. Again, that speaks to why Monique may be going bareback, and doing more IR.

Sunny's first b/g will do very well. But if she continues to only do b/g with her boyfriend, the sales will drop. Also, and not to take anything away from Sunny, Monique has always had a very strong fan base--dating back to her early g/g only days. Remember, Monique had a contract with Sin City videos, just to do g/g/. These are the fans that Vivid is still courting by keeping Monique under contract, and I don't think Sunny's fanbase is as deep.
Next December, I'll go back through the bestsellers lists to see if Monique's or Sunny's videos spent more time on the lists.

I think it was in another thread that somebody guessed Monique had done something to her lips.
When i saw the pictures dave27 gave us the link i am convinced she did some big something to her lips.
I always liked her a lot, but i dont think she is getting prettier with her lip-jobs or tatooes all over.
She lately reminds me of Dolly Buster, who also had done a lip-job.

I think Monique is major hot looking. Yes, I love the "new look," but then I'm one of those guys who find (most) tattoos sexy; I know, a lot of you don't. Different strokes. Janine's sleeve (and back, and neck) is, to me, like whew; I love them and love her look. Monique obviously worships Janine (watch the interview http://www.myvideo.de/watch/2782301), and I predict her arm tattoo will crawl on up to her shoulder, and that's fiiine with me. Janine's arm tat started the same, same size, same place, on the same arm, same subject (flowers).
Just thinking about Janine, by the way, gives me an erection. Monique, as hot as she is, doesn't do that to me.
Monique has that cute little overbite. Her lips look sexier to me now. Again, dif strokes.
I don't mean to be cruel, but after watching the Debbie Does Dallas Again mini-series, I would find it difficult to live with Monique (understatement). She came across as a whiny drama queen, the whiniest of them all (except Cassidy - how'd you like to live with her?).
I did not think DDD2 was a very good DVD; it was average at best. By winning so many awards, it highlights the hypocrisy of the industry and the power Vivid wields. Vivid puts out (mostly) crap these days - everyone says this - yet Vivid doesn't get it. It will be their undoing.

You're coming from the viewpoint of "hardcore fans"--in both senses of the word.
I believe there are many more "occasional fans" (including couples) who buy and watch a few porn videos every year. And these fans buy Vivid's product. Vivid DOES sell more sexvids than anyone else. They intentionally make sexvids for the "mass market."
The porn websites, that have much "harder" and extreme sex than Vivid produces, is the place where hardcore fans find product they like. IMO, these two different delivery systems (dvds vs. internet websites) are splitting the porn customer base. Which is NOT a bad thing.
Bottom line: Vivid, Digital Playground and Wicked etc. will continue to win the AVN-type awards because these awards are dvd-focused. But I expect to see, very soon, another major porn awards event created that will be for web-based porn ONLY. And Vivid and the others will NOT win these new awards. IMO the porn business is not "dying" as some people are predicting, it's just "splitting" into two. This is a typical scenario for a growing industry--and this type of evolution is taught in Business schools every day.

I know, but you know what, I couldn't remember a damn thing about the film at the time to prompt her, and when a gorgeous porn star tells you she doesn't remember being in a film even when she was in it, ya don't argue!
It's funny - some porn stars sort of squint their eyes at the box covers when you get them to sign them and give you that quizzical look that says 'Hmmm, was I in this?' Both Monique and Roxy Jezel were thrilled to see my copy of Sex & Violins because neither of them appeared to have seen the film since performing for it, although I think Monique mentioned she had a copy somewhere. Weirdly, Roxy recognised the box cover from about twenty metres away.

Best guess: because the porn biz is changing rapidly and NOBODY is making long-term commitments.
My point is that Vivid doesn't have another performer currently on their payroll that can be counted on to sell more than Monique. It's a simple business decision from their standpoint to continue with a known quantity (Monique) while they see where the biz is going. Hell...by this time next year, there may be no dvd market at all.
Are you saying that Vivid has a contract girl they can count on to appear in 6-12 different videos during 2008, who can produce more dvd sales than Monique? I think not.

I know some fans believe Sunny is the most popular of the Vivid Girls, but I don't really see it in sales. Also, I doubt that Sunny makes more per sexvid than Monique.
BTW, I don't want to take anything away from Sunny, who may be a Future Star--especially now that she's doing b/g--but the truth is Sunny has only had a few sexvids that she starred in or had the #2 female role: "Sunny", "Sunny & Cher" "The Sunny Experiment," "Vivid Virtual Girl with Sunny Leone," "Sunny in Brazil," and "Sunny Loves Matt".
Monique on the other hand, has been the #1 or #2 star in well over two dozen Vivid productions, including "Debbie.." "Call Girl, Confidential" "Resident Sex," "To Die For," and "Lexie & Monique Love Rocco." Monique's sexvids have sold very well in multiple markets (and on cable). Plus Monique has an IR video coming up ("Monique's Been Blackmaled") that should sell very well.
Bottom line: Monique, who is blonde with blue eyes, and Sunny, who is exotic looking, appeal to different fan bases. Monique is the proven talent, in work & sales, and Sunny is at the point where she can take-off and become very big. In two years, Sunny may have better sales numbers, but that's not true now.

Boyfriends often mean the end of porn careers, and Monique appears to have a non-industry boyfriend. When you take into account that Monique has been in porn for about five years, and that she's already done about everything (IR, anal) except gangbangs, chances are the "best" years of her career are now behind her.
Monique has also told people that she plans on ending her career at Vivid. Currently, she's under contract with Vivid until the end of this year--and may have already performed all of her contracted-for scenes. So, she may not have to make any decisions about staying in porn until her contract is up for renewal. If the relationship with the boyfriend is strong, it increases the possibility of her retiring.
Well, whatever her decision, we'll always have "Call Girl Confidential."

Yeah I liked the tease shot also, although I've noticed that she's added some body art since I last saw her, which is somewhat distracting to me. Overall, the trailer looks artful, and I'll probably wait for reviews (i'll be especially interested if there's an anal scene also)

now that Cry Wolf is finally out, we will surely soon know if it was
worth all the fuzz/waiting. However, this movie was long awaited and
so there were probably not so many people asking this:
What's next?
Does anybody know if there will be more movies with Monique in the
near future, what are/were her recent projects...I can't help the
feeling that it's damn hard to get any useful info on the net, not to speak about the feedback you can get from vivid concerning such

I've seen both scenes. They were clearly shot at the same time as Call Girl Confidential. They're BETTER though. The scene with Mr. Marcus is one on one and very hot. At least I thought so.

The scene with Monique and Mr. Marcus is divided in two parts, and his total lenght is 9 minutes!!!
The scene with Stefani morgan, Jayna Oso and Marcos Leon 5 minutes...

I just saw "Cry Wolf" and unlike "Is657017" I felt pretty good about it, though it is NOT a sexvid for everyone. Without doing a full review, "Cry Wolf" is very, very story-driven. And, for once, the time-shifting actually works, the camera work and editing is effective--in serving the video's storyline. All of the performers, especially Monique, pull out their "acting" chops...which many fans today probably don't care about.
Monique's anal scene (again, like in "Call Girl Confidential," courtesy of Marcos Leon, without a condom) is very critical to the storyline--and the "revenge" aspects that play out. Making the viewer think negatively about anal sex, is another plot point that may not sit well with porn fans in 2008.
The sex scenes, that are sometimes non-continuous, are IMO very good. Stefani Morgan even appears in a hot g/b/g scene. There's a pretty good orgy scene, and the chemistry between Monique and Mr Marcus is very good--tender, erotic sex. Not nasty. Even "better" IMO, there is no reference to Marcus being black...the Monique/Marcus sex does not have any "You love my big, black dick, don't ya bitch" comments. It's actually "adult."
Bottom line: I think this is Monique's best sexvid, to date, and hopefully she gets some awards come January 2009.
