^^If this is true, and not some stunt to get more fans to their site, I guess Monique is back in action. The money Naughty America is paying Monique must be very good to get her to choose them over Vivid to work for. No matter what the hardcore fans think of Vivid product, the truth has always been that they pay performers well. The Real Story, from a business POV, is this can't be good news for Steve Hirsch given that he invested so much money in marketing Monique--and putting her in their big award-winning productions (Debbie Does Dallas, Cry Wolf). Plus when Monique was "on a break" she said that when she came back it would be with Vivid. I wonder what happened.
Maybe the tattoo's weren't a fit for what Vivid wanted to do, maybe they are going to focus on other girls for a new look. I don't like how Vivid does things but they know how to make money so I am not sure it was just a one sided thing. Maybe they both just wanted to move on.

You could be right. The huge tat that Monique has on the right side of her body can't be a "plus" from Vivid's POV. I believe Vivid has a clause in their contracts that state the girls can't "dramatically alter" their physical appearance without first talking with the company. In the past this was their way of negotiating boob jobs, but could have been raised by the company after Monique started the huge tat. First it was an outline, then got filled in with color after she was no longer under contract. Vivid's primary market had always been the more mainstream porn customer, and the large tats are a turn off to many fans. Monique, like Teagan and Janine, has taken heat for her huge tat. And none of the current Vivid Girls have huge body tats. So the company marketing strategists may be advising against signing contract girls with huge tats. Who knows? I've contacted Monique about her Naughty America work, but so far haven't gotten a reply. If I hear back from her, I'll share what I can. Interesting turn of events in Monique's career.
I'm just glad that Monique's back doing b/g scenes! I figured she was only going to continue doing girls. Not a big of her tats, especially the wrist and her side. Though, they aren't really bad as long as she doesn't get any more big ones. She still looks damn hot and NaughtyAmerica is way better because the scenes are better quality to view. Also, no condoms is a plus. Though most importantly, I hope that means more anal and IR from her.
re: Tattoos and Vivid - in this interview (from July 2008), at about the 2 minute mark, Monique speculates that all her new tattoos might prevent Vivid from renewing their contract with her. So there might be something to it.
Thanks for the link. This interview just adds more mystery to why Monique would "alter" her body/image, and risk losing a solid, steady income. In a very, very competitive business. This may be one of those decisions that she'll look back on years from now, and wish someone had told her "Don't do it." Also in this interview Monique says she'll never do a gangbang. She did not do a 5 guy scene with Naughty America. If you read their statement, it says that she did 5 b/g scenes with them. Most likely, each one of them only has one guy in it.

yes it does but it's hard to even say if it will ever happen at all. I've seen a good couple of movies that say to be continued and it has yet to happen but I hope so cuz it needs it.
I watched 2 of the NA scenes and they are okay. Monique just doesn't look as good as she used to. Not only the tattoos but even her hair style and face seem a little off. Also her voice sounds huskier, more like a "smokers" voice which I don't care for. Her verbal aggression is definitely a turn on and I will continue to watch as I am a huge fan but she will never have the allure she once did. Look at her 5 years ago and she was one of the cutest chicks I have ever seen in porn. Now she seems like just another porn star.
^^Monique has been in the biz for about eight years, and it's a tough life. Frankly, I'm surprised she came back from her b/g break. And, I wonder if she would have preferred to come back as a Vivid Contract Girl, where she would have a regular check. Now she has to compete for jobs with every other non-contact performer. Given the lack of work, and lower pay performers have to accept today, coming back right now is not the best time. And like you, I've noticed a difference in her face--a little too much cover-up. Makes me think she may be having a skin outbreak, or an allergic reaction to something. Still cute, but not a knock-out like she use to be. According to her Twitter page, she is in Vegas to shoot for Brazzers. Hopefully they do a better job than NA did, pairing her up with guys that can't muster a decent load.

^^ Good move on Monique's part to still work for Vivid even without a contract. Vivid has good cash flow and is profitable, and will be around when many of the other adult companies (studios and internet) are gone. So there will always be work there. Also Monique just posted some recent photos on her MySpace page, and her face looks good. Those photos that make her look plastic or botox'd, may be the result of a bad make-up artist or lighting. Monique contractual status continues to confuse. She's listed as one of the "current" Vivid Girls in the press release for the Vivid old school/new school "Family Feud" event at the upcoming NY Exxotica show. Plus, she's worked on at least one recent Vivid shoot, and is at many of the Vivid Girl promo events. At the same time, she continues to work for other companies, too. Either Vivid's not accurate in calling her a Vivid Girl in their press release, or they may have given her some kind of non-exclusive contract. If so, this could be a rebirth of a practice from the early days of porn, when performers would contract to do a set number of videos for a company--but they were not "exclusive" with the company. In the current porn economic crisis, the return of the non-exclusive contract would be a good development for performers, since it guarantees some income--but leaves the door open for other work, too. Vivid has a condom optional policy that is strictly up to the girl. We don't pressure anyone to do anything they don't want to. It is her choice and has always been her choice. We support her either way.
I'll take you on your word, Woody. But people may doubt it when reading Steve Hirsch's quote in the LA Times saying if Cal OSHA requires condoms, that porn companies will leave the state. Steve may have been joking, but it does suggest that he doesn't support condoms in porn.

He is saying that if cal OSHA requires condoms in the state, mandatory, people, not only Vivid, will shoot elsewhere. That doesn't mean that if a girl wants to use a condom, she can't. It means that the buying public, on a whole, doesn't like them. It would decrease sales for everyone. Unhappy customers. I highly doubt that Cal OSHA is going to go in that direction.
All I really want to see is another Monique Anal scene... I know some people have a problem with anal but I quite enjoy it... and I know with vivid her contract had her do like 4 or 6 so I'm just waitin for em...
