We made some more layout changes to the forum today to clean up things a little bit. We also added an easy way for us to do announcements and associate threads with movies and performers.
Post your comments, thoughts and rants here.

I notice the Jump To drop down list at the bottom of the page is gone. That's not a big deal because there's still one in the sidebar.

That's a mistake. I'll add it back in later tonight.

BTW, moderators will notice there's a new option for them to tag threads. I think steph plans to write to you soon with details on how to use it.

Moderators don't need to be "tagging threads". Sounds so draconian like: "I'm tagging this thread because some mischief is afoot therein, what do you other moderators think?"
Moderators should have to call each other on their cel phones to suss such things out.

Tagging is nothing as useful as making life easier for the mods. It's just a way for us to associate a movie or a performer name to a thread.

Where's the &quottopics in forum as read" function/option?

The option is there in the individual forums, near the top by the posting options. Do you need the one to mark all of the forums read? I took it out because I didn't know if anyone used it. It's easy to put back in.

Other than trying to figure out where you moved the log in box everything seems alright on IE but on Firefox all the search boxes and links on the left hand margin were dropped right on top of the titles of the main forum page.

"Ahhh... I see," said the blind man.
I rarely, if ever, used the mark all forums read option.
Thanks.

I have never been able to replicate any of the problems you are reporting in IE using version 6.0 or newer. I do see these problems in 5.5 but we don't worry about designing around the quirks of 5.5 because such an incredibly small percentage of users have that browser.

Drew, the problem that I mentioned in the post above yours does not occur with IE. It was Firefox that moves the left margin over the top of the main forum page. I also just discovered that it does this on the post reply page too. I can't see or read the first five or six characters on each line because the searches and links to the talk, price search, and all the other stuff over in the beige margin is overlapping my replies. I also have to go through the Active Topics to get into the Tech Talk because the entire link to Tech Talk on the main page is obscured by this stuff.
I've just discovered something else. After my first edit on this post, the same stuff I'm complaining about covering up the left edge of things has now covered up the member's names and avatars down to the post you made at 10:12pm. Below that it is fine.

After a little more exploring this is now happening to me on every thread of every forum. All the odds and ends in the beige on the left edge of the home page are being put over the top of left edge of every page. For example on the post reply page, I can not see the Icon part of the Icon Legend link and the New Reply box reads as ew Reply. Just above it says ck here to include your profile signature. (and half the first c is cut off). Instead I get the Search Movies, Search Reviews, Search the forum, and all the links to Talk, Price Search, DVD Bargains, DVD Reviews, Stay in Touch, and so on. I hope this gives you an idea of what and where I am talking about

Is the red dot gone? I depend on the red dot to help me find my drunk posts, and clean up the aftermath.

TUP - I also have tested it with the latest version of Opera and see no strange HTML formatting problems.
I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you just need a bigger hammer?

I see whats happening. Whatever it is that causes a thread to have the yellow yield sign icon overrides the red dot. It's happened in this thread.

I am now getting TUP's problem with my Firefox as well.
1280 x 800 resolution, Firefox 2.0.0.6
The left margin partially covers the forum. Overlaps I guess is the correct description. Topics, Forums, Reply box, everything.
this Just started tonight. Yesterday everything was fine, but now all of a sudden this popped up.
Iam on my laptop which doesn't have a print screen function so I can't take a screen shot.
Its the same under any resolution.

Is this option not available yet as I don't see the option available anywhere.
One other thing, the descriptors for the columns on the main forum page are gone. Was that intentional?

I start my sessions here from the active topics page, and everything proceeds from there. Right now, the "browse" options don't appear on the active topics page, which means I have no straight shot to "search". I don't know if this will affect many people.
Huh, I see the "Search the forum field" in the sidebar now (is that new? I never noticed it before) but I usually like to narrow my search with the other pulldowns.

What add-ons do you have installed? I'm running that version and have tested it on 4 different computers with different resolution monitors and can't reproduce it to diagnose the problem.

I am away from the office now and decided to check on my notebook (using my BlackBerry as a tethered cellular modem). The problems people are seeing are due to the style sheet being cached in your browser. We added some new styles last night and if your browser hasn't fetched the updated style sheet you will see exactly the kinds of problems being reported in this thread.
The solution is to reload the page or press Ctrl+R to force to browser to reload everything.

I noticed it gone and I used it regularly, but it still appears atop the Active Threads page and that works for me.

I'd like it if you would add back the Mark All the Forums as Read link.
It's a wish actually... if it's better for you to leave it off or you don't have overwhelming demand for this option, it's ok.

The "mark all read" option is still on the active topics page. I always use that page, open topics I want to read in new tabs and then mark them all read.
