The install will go smoothly but you will not be able to get online after rebooting. I fucked around for 16hrs before uninstalling the service pack. I had uninstalled Zone Alarm a while ago but file remnants still caused issues. [Link] |

When, in reality, it is just the XP SP3 update they want me to install. Unlike other updates (e.g. IE7), you can not tell updates to not keep nagging you about the XP SP3 update. Aaaaaagggggghhhhhh! FYI, I keep my systems fully updated except for these two items. Does anyone believe there is any compelling reason to update to XP SP3? [Link] |

MS wanted to stop supporting XP over a year ago. That's when I turned off Automatic Update. Windoze doesn't even remind me that it's turned off anymore. I turned off Virus Protection and Firewll when I installed it. I've used AVG and Kerio sine Windoze 2000 and never had a problem. I will not install Vista until there is some program or function that I need that is not available in my current version of XP. Also, I will not install FoxFire 3 until I no longer see posts about problems with it. I estimate it will settle down in about sisx months from now. Until then, FireFox 2.0.0.16 is still running without problems nor loss of function. [Link] |
