If you were to come up with a list of must-have utilties for MS Windows (XP or Vista)--things you think everyone should know about and have--what would they be and why? [Link]

It will take all the files in a folder (and all it's subfolders) and copy them to one folder that you specify. There's probably some techy way to do it also but I'm a dummy who always needs a simple proggy with a simple GUI to do this stuff. It took me forever to find it. I had several folders full of subfolders of pictures and didn't want to spend the rest of my life dragging and dropping or copying and pasting. There doesn't seem to be a simpler way to do it in any version of Windows that I know of. I've got a gazillion picture files that people brand with scanner IDs (=mx=) and other pollution, or weird extensions, etc. Great utility. [Link]

And something about batch files. The rename utility looks useful as well. BTW, people probably should have to master DOS before they're even allowed near a Windows PC. I think there are some other freeware newsreaders but I've tried a couple of them and they're not very user-friendly at all. Agent is no longer free last time I checked. Free Agent is gone. Regular Agent still seems cheap at $30. I bought it when it was Agent 2.x, which I still run. I didn't like version 3.x. They took away a couple of key features that I really liked, and didn't seem to add anything I wanted to replace it. I have no idea what 4.x is like. [Link]

It adds it to your right click context menu. I've been using it for a couple of months and it works perfectly. It sure beats clicking through Explorer when you just need to get to a folder quickly. I like the automated features. It seems to have helped up my system (P4 3.00GHz Windows XP w/SP3), especially with start-up Auslogics Registry Defrag, Disk Defrag and System Information Under the "Free Products from Auslogics" http://www.auslogics.com/en/software - A couple of free programs that I've used for quite a while without any problems. The Registry Defrag was a big help after I cleaned up my registry. Disk Defrag and System Information are redundant programs to Smart Defrag and Belarc. I'll run one and then the other to verify....and because I spend entirely too much time playing computer dude.
