I get it alot too Bill. I was wondering the same thing but didn't say anything. It's only when I come to this site and only on certain threads. And my pop-up blocker doesn't catch it either....lol!
It's back again for me on threads that Voyeur32 has posted in a get the MSN sign in pop-up....lol! Just when you thought it was safe to open up a thread....
ahh. sorry all. How about a little warning to me letting me know this was happening. I would have gladly removed on my own. The title of this thread gave me no indication that I should be seeing this thread and thus realizing the problem. As a matter of fact no one told me the problem and when my avatar was gone I figured it was just a mistake and I put the damn thing back up.

Sorry for causing you all the pain of having pop ups! Just when you thought the problem was solved, BAM, it comes back! LOL. Anway I took care of my Avatar, but now I'm posting here just to say I'm sorry! (but I didn't know)
This one isn't really a popup, it just behaves that way. It was the sign-on when attempting to access an msnusers page (where some members have inadvertantly stored their avatars).
Pop-up blockers did nothing to prevent this (nor should they).
I need to write an avatar funciton for the site instead of using the method we currently have. We never intended to support avatars. It just happens to work this way and we never got around to changing it.
I'd prefer to just remove them. IMO they are more of a PITA than anything. They waste bandwidth, cause pages to load slower and generally clutter things up.
An avatar upload function? I agree about avatars though (and will remove mine in a jiffy). Perhaps, in one go, one could also get rid of the font tags and some html presentational attributes that also clutter the code to a high extent and eat a lot of bandwidth...
I use Opera 7.## and love it, but I don't like Java, so I bought the "light" version, with no Java support, and that can be annoying for website's like this one, and all other websites that use Java.
I haven't seen a popup, a downloader, a hijack, or nothing since I started using Opera, but I have to use Microscrap to access this site among others.
BigMike, Opera has one price - for a browser itself. Java is Sun's, and is free. It doesn't matter what you download, with Java or without. If you paid for 7.x, you can always download a new version, with oor without Java, and register it with the same code. You can even have as many registered copies on one computer as you wish, and as far as the HDD can be stretched. My advice then would be to download a new Java-enabled 7.5, and register it. You can always enable/disable it via F12 key.True. Neither did I have a virus, ever :) I am so glad to see another user!
You can use it for free if you are willing to live with Google ad at the top (half-inch or so). Opera.com Fastest adult browser out there :) You can email me if you need any help
