It's been a few years since I had my own site, I didn't do it myself and have no experience with that company, just wanted to push you in the right direction. They take a lot of the technical wizardry out of the process of getting your site registered, hosted and online for all fo the world to marvel at. Sorry that's not too descriptive. There's really a lot to getting a site online and it's beyond the scope of what I'm willing to type at the moment. Whatever you do, make sure you register the domain name in your name (or your company's name if you have a company.) Don't let the hosting company register it in their name or if a friend does it for you don't let them make themselves the registrant. Domain names are quasi-property and the registrant "owns" this property. Actually, they own the right to rent the domain name from a domain registrar but they can barter this right to domains are property-like. You don't want to lose control of your domain name if someone gets pissed at you. In the same respect if you fail to renew the registration when it's due then it's your fault that your site is gone from the internet. [Link] |

I recently registered a domain using godaddy and domains by proxy so it would be anon, then started looking into the hosting and other details of the site. I ended up moving everything over to bluehost who offer free anon domain registration and their hosting fees are much cheaper than godaddy. I agree with Drew re: godaddy's user friendliness, but bluehost has it as well. Neither of these sites will allow adult material. [Link] |
