| Big Red Member Ohio 6 Posts 2/02 |  Posted - Apr 25 2005 : 12:19AMI'm not sure if this is the right forum or not. About a year or so ago, I bought a copy of I Dream of Jenna. My wife and I watched it all the way through once, then watched it part-way through one other time. Since then, it's been stored in decent conditions with the rest of our adult DVD's (in a cool drawer, stored vertically--no extreme or damaging conditions of any kind). I'm a bit particular about keeping track of my collection, and was verifying the information on some of my DVD's the other day. One of those was I Dream of Jenna. I was planning on putting it in the player to verify a couple thing, but when I went to remove it from its case, it exploded. To be precise, when I pressed on the circular locking tab that holds the DVD in place, there was a loud popping/cracking sound as the two layers of the DVD split, with a big chunk of the top layer breaking off. There's a big crack running down the middle of both layers, and several smaller cracks radiating out from the middle of the bottom layer. I've been collecting DVD's for about 5 years now, and have never had anything like this happen before. I have well over 1,000 DVD's (only about 30-40 adult titles), and the only other DVD I've ever had a problem with was Disney's Dinosaur (Disney sent me a replacement). I did have an adult VHS tape die on my before (oddly enough, another Jenna Jameson title--Baby Doll--which Vidoe Age quickly replaced), but I've never even heard of something like this happening to a DVD. Part of my problem is that I have no idea who I ordered this from. I generally keep very close track of my purchases, but this is one of those very rare cases when I didn't keep track. I've tried to find some contact information for Vivid to see if this is something they'd be able to replace, but haven't had any luck so far. I'd hate to think that I'm out of luck on this. You are buying a phyiscal object that can and will break. And when it breaks, you aren't entitled to a replacement. DVDs are better than VHS tapes in terms of durability, but the deal is the same. You are buying a prefab medium with a license to use (watch) a film "for a while". Yeah Baby! [Link] |

| Destroyer Deactivated User Quebec 21 Posts 12/04 | Posted - Apr 26 2005 : 6:27AM Vhs is common that the tape go out etc, personally i always make a copy of my favorite VHS especially the movie i paid 30 bucks US + shipping, did not want to loose it. But its more complicated to make copy of DVD... As for the case, personally i hate CD Music Case, if they fall one time you are sure they will be broken, they broke at nothing...DVD case yes take more place but never broke, or it take a lot of pressur. But they take more place indeed. The best thing for me would be the kind of case they have at video club, hard plastic, you can throw them and they dont break, but are the same size as a CD Music case...
