Reasons for not giving higher review include... 1) Poor lighting, many scenes too dark or poorly lit. 2) Poor plot. Vampire bite makes victim horney? They're practically dead by then? 3) No suspense. None, zilch! Need suspense to make it interesting, to make it stimulating -- BEFORE the bite, and there was none. Reminds me of eating cotton candy, all fluff, empty calories. 4) Many blow job scenes where all you see is hair over her face or neck. Hello? This is a vampire porn flick, how about showing above average neck shots? Common sense yes? Apparently not though. Need to see at least her face, but can't see anything but a mop. I expect to see a lot more face and neck, especially in a vampire porn flick. Please pull her hair back to expose her natural beauty. I think more people would like to see her face and neck. 5) Too short. Film not long enough. Vampire films are never long enough for me, but this one seemed especially short. Like too many porn flicks made these days. It is cheap and lazy. Not enough effort or thought went into the script, not enough effort on the directing, and not enough effort went into the acting. I give "Vamps" two stars -- and that's being generous. If you're looking for a half decent vampire porn flick, check out "Emmanuelle Vs Dracula". This one has "Vamps" beat by miles and costs less than half the cost. I like the Barely Legal series. Too bad they can't make one with a vampire twist. I think they do a pretty good job This is just my humble opinion after plopping down $24 for this film. Sorry for the less than stellar review. I really wanted to give this film a better rating, and hoped it would be better. We clearly need more vampire erotica. When will the porn studios ever get serious about making a decent vampire porn flick? The area is wide open. My guess is when they stop being so lazy. When we stop buying their ... (Problem is their ads can be deceiving making you believe you are getting a good movie). Still frustrated in Transylvania and growing more frustrated every day.

The scenes were all shot very well with gorgeous lighting, great music, and great editing. There is no suspense in almost any vampire film. It's a vampire film...someone is gonig to get bit. That's really not a secret. It's a porn, someone is going to have sex. Also not a secret. There is no "acting" except for in the very short set ups where the girls have maybe one line. It's a fuck film. Duh. YOU may have a fetish about seeing necks, but not everyone shares in that fetish and so for you to discount the film because Jenna Haze's hair wasn't pulled up in a nice up-do while she's blowing someone is simply assine. The fact that you pointed out that you like "brightly lit sets" reveals that you don't have the slightest clue as to what a "Vampire" film is supposed to be about. "Vampires" live in darkness, therefore you're going to get some night scenes. The bite of a vampire is very sexual in nature, so If what you wanted was cookie cutter cliches that you can find in numerous Vampire flicks and porn flicks, you probably should have looked elsewhere. James Avalon is known for darker films and by that I mean in tone and style and even sometimes in his lighting techniques. He doesn't conform to the cliches in porn and that's why his stuff is always interesting. |

I just needed to get my views heard for the purpose of (hopefully) motivating better vampire themed films in the future. My two stars are mine alone. Others may give "Vamps" one or four stars. That's why I was hoping for other reviews of it here. We all have different expectations of these films. Mine are admittedly high as I so desperately want to see a great vampire film. It's been a long time since I last seen one. :) If studios/directors would take some of what I said and applied it to a new erotic vampire film, I think it could be one of the BEST ever made. True, not everyone shares my fetish, but there are many who do, and what would everyone rather see, a neck or a mop? True, lighting in a vamp film is usually dark, but it doesn't have to be that way. And as for suspense, that is the magic that makes a great film great. Beautiful victims, suspense, lighting, acting, script and a good bunch of bite scenes can come together in such a way as to make a great film. A so so film lasts weeks, maybe years -- a great film lasts generations and sets the bar to higher levels of excellence and also sells many more copies. I would think it's in the production company's best interest to want to make great films all the time. |
