Just wanted to post a reminder the 66 people that still have email accounts @my.adultdvdtalk.com. We are phasing out this free email account service. Sometime in the first week of November we will disable the ability for users to send mail from their my.adultdvdtalk.com address. The accounts will continue to receive email through the end of the year.
To help people transition their content mailboxes to another account I have enabled POP3 access to the my.adultdvdtalk.com service. So instead of logging into your email account through our website you can use GMail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or any POP3 email client. The POP3 server is my.adultdvdtalk.com. Your username is your full @my.adultdvdtalk.com email address and use the same password that you use to access your account through the website.
You can use the POP3 interface to fetch your @my.adultdvdtalk.com email through the end of the year.

I have enabled a POP3 service on the webmail server that will enable you to retrieve the contents of your @my.adultdvdtalk.com mailbox. This will allow you to move all of your old email into your mail program or to another webmail service like Google's Gmail.
Here's the server settings:
POP3 server: my.adultdvdtalk.com
Port: 1110 <---- note this is a non-standard port, you may need to change this in the "Advanced Settings" area of your email client.
username: your_name@my.adultdvdtalk.com
password: whatever-your-password-is
That should do it. This is the easiest way to move the entire contents of your mailbox to a new provider. If you have specific questions about how to do this with your email program please post them in this thread.

Drew, does this change affect someone receiving a PM since it goes to the persons e-mail? I've sent out a couple of PM's since this change and it appears that they may not have received it.
For example, sometime last month I sent one to Hardware, but I don't think he ever received it. Would it prevent me from receiving PM's? I've noticed that I haven't received any lately.
I have the standard setup that was/is available when I first joined, no special anything.

I think it would only affect the person if they aren't checking their ADT mailbox anymore. Mail is still going into them, you just can't reply to it using the ADT box.

I think you may have discovered a ADT software bug that needs to get fixed.
I have send multiple e-mails/PM's now and in the past and 9 out of 10 times they don't seem to arrive. Same story vice versa.
I even tried sending myself e-mails/PM's but that doesn't work either. I'm certainly not the only one having this problem.
Is it because of christmas time that the PM content approving by mods/admins and subsequent forwarding of all these PM's have backlogged?
Secondly, is a real pm system still in the planning like one can read when one checks his own profile?

I don't know what to tell you guys other than change your email to something other than the ADT service. I just emailed myself using the email moderator link and it worked just fine.
I would suggest creating a gmail or yahoo account and changing the enail link in your profile.

Popped all of the webmail messages.
Thanks for working on this, Drew!

We do not approve private messages. Never have, never will. They are sent to the recipient via email the moment that you send it. Many ISPs block email from adultdvdtalk.com. That's why we're getting rid of our webmail service. We've been blacklisted by a few ISPs because of people abusing the my.adultdvdtalk.com mail service.
There is a real PM system in planning but I doubt I'll ever finish it.

Sorry, let me re-formulate: I don't use a my.adultdvdtalk.com e-mail address for my ADT communication, just a simple gmail account.
And still do recipients of my pm's don't seem to get my e-mails and vice versa. Sending pm's to myself don't arrive either: I've tried this 9 times now in the last four days.
That's why I thought/said that you mods and/or admin(s) may have/had a backlog in regards to reading/approving &subsequently forwarding PM's of ADT members to other ADT members. I mean, that is the reason why everything goes through the approving eye of the of the admin(s)/mods e-mail address, no?
I must say, that the problem of me receiving pm's and actually getting my pm's in other members mailbox' started once I turned on the possibility (after I've turned it off for 3 weeks or so) that people can pm me???? What should I do?
Thxs.

Add admin@adultdvdtalk.com to your list of approved senders in your gmail account's spam settings. Gmail is filtering the emails that you are sending to yourself from our server. Did you happen to check your spam folder for the test messages? I can assure you that we are not withholding your messages, nor do we approve them. The system does work but we can't control what the server on the receiving end is doing. Keep in mind that we have been blacklisted, i.e. adultdvdtalk.com is considered to be a source of spam by any ISPs or mail services that use Cisco's Ironport service. (That's most of the major ISPs.) We're fucked because of a few assholes that used our my.adultdvdtalk.com mail service to send spam.
Fuck you very much.

I may be dense, but I cannot figure out how to have all my ADT mail forwarded to to my new web-based G-mail account. I don't want it forwarded to my computer via Outlook.
Thanks for any help!

I'll figure it out and post instructions. I did get it to work with Gmail but don't recall exactly how I did it.

Thanks. That's the way I did it.
Edited to add: you need to select the correct POP3 port number. The default is 110. We are using 1110. I think that's in an advanced settings area.

The new POP feature and the new "check messages" feature work very well together in combination. They allow me to edit the flow of messages that I want Gmail to fetch from my ADT mailbox. By downloading and deleting the spam at source whenever it suits me, the spam never reaches my new webmail account but the good stuff does.
Thanks again, Drew! Much appreciated!

I'll be shutting off the my.adultdvdtalk.com email addresses shortly after the end of the year. So enjoy it while it lasts.

For some reason porn 110 works for me but 1110 is refused. I've tried several times and Gmail's also not letting me import my inbox even though my e-mails are all coming over very well.

1110 is the port to fetch the old contents of your webmail inbox. 110 will fetch your new mail only.
I had to restart the service that runs on 1110. It should work for you now.

I just turned off the program that fetches new email and drops it into the webmail interface. No new messages will appear in the web area of your my.adultdvdtalk.com email account.
The two different POP3 interfaces will remain open for two more weeks. After that I'll start deleting all of the accounts.
If you provided me a new email address I will set up an auto-forwarder service to route any messages to your new email account.

The webmail interface has been disabled. The my.adultdvdtalk.com mail boxes are still accessible via POP3. I'll keep them active through the end of this month.

I would really like to retrieve the contents of my ADT mailbox. I setup a gmail account and I'm trying to use the "Mail Fetcher" as described in the posts above. I keep getting the following message:
There was a problem connecting to mail.my.adultdvdtalk.com
Show error details Server returned error: "We were unable to locate the other domain. Please contact your other provider."

That portion of the website has been disabled.
I've been warning people about this change for months.

I turned it back on temporarily. You should be able to POP3 to your old mailbox contents on port 1110. Newly arriving messages will be on port 110.
The service that runs on port 1110 is actually part of the webmail software that I intend to remove. I don't intend to keep it

Pete - I'll give it another 24 hours. I've written to you at your new email address with no response. Please POP your mailbox contents off our server soon or lose them.

The web mail system has been completely removed from the server. I deleted everything last night. It's all gone. New mail is still arriving and you can POP3 to port 110 for new messages only. Old mail in the web mail system is permanently gone at this point.

Drew, this service you've been referring to, is this the one where you can click on a icon two from the left of reply with Quote at the top of each post, or some other feature that I never had?
I don't remember what the send e-mail to a poster is called since for almost a year now neither it nor the icon to edit a post tells what it's for by placing the cursor over it.

It was an e-mail system that ADT had where users could have @my.adultdvdtalk.com e-mail addresses. It is not the e-mail a member feature.
