We were told that, as well as apparently not eating enough, she was constantly working out in order to lose weight. That working out will create muscle in some places. But the rest of her looks undernourished. Her cheeks are caved in, her ribs are showing and her stomach is concave.
Don't judge her appearance by a single photo. Listen to the people who actually saw her.

We actually hadn't hired her in months, almost exclusively because she no longer has the 'healthy look' that we prefer on girls.
Jewel - I honestly don't know what to do or if there's anything I can say to her that will make a difference. She truly does not believe that she is too thin or even close to it. She simply keeps saying that everyone in her family has a tendency to be really thin and there's nothing she can do about it. Not many people are hiring her anymore. If that alone doesn't seem obvious to her that people were lined up to hire her before and now aren't wanting to, I'm not sure what it is that will get her to see that we preferred her before. She's a sweet girl. I think a lot of the people on here are going a little overboard with the whole 'death' thing. She wouldn't be able to sustain any muscle mass at all if she was near death. I'm not saying it's not a possibility if she keeps getting thinner... fuck, I don't know what I'm saying other than I don't know what to do.
Its cool for male pornstars to get on steroids and look like bodybuilders right? Nobody cares about that.
If Naomi does indeed have anorexia, then sure I am against it because she will not be able to do more porn and will end up in the hospital.. as this is a downward spiral.
However, If the girl is working out, eating clean, and toning her body she is doing what over 1 Million americans are doing as we speak.
When Oprah loses 80 pounds in a few months she is inspiration..to millions of women.
When Brad Pitt goes on his extreme diets to get washboard abs, he is lusted after by millions of women.
Naomi if you are reading this..do what makes you feel good about yourself. You look fantastic! Be healthy and keep working for the love of what you do and fans like me who want to see you for years to come.
Tricia, it's probably not a wise angle of attack to comment on someone's weight when it's the very thing they're obsessing about. Regardless of the good intentions behind the comments, it just continues to feed the notion that weight is of great importance. It also tends to make the person defensive.
This particular girl needs the love and support of her close friends and family. Hopefully she has plenty of both. She needs to be told and shown, repeatedly, that her worth doesn't stem from her physical appearance. While sweet, this thread (and my post) are worthless.
Dr Phil will be back after these messages...

Except Oprah isn't anorexic and just so happens to be one of the wealthiest women in the world.
What I have been saying all along.. from the mouth of Naomi herself..read this carefully guys!
Naomi: You know, before I got into the business, my whole life I have been very, very lean, and right before I got into the business, I was sick and so I gained weight, and so when I got in the business, I was overweight. And now I've gone back to my weight, and I get a lot, a lot of people telling me, "What happened to you?" and, "Why are you so skinny?" and, "Gain weight," and I personally take it as very offensive, because I would never wish anybody to be unhealthy or uncomfortable in their own skin for my own benefit. And I think it's rude and offensive to ask somebody to gain weight, have high blood pressure, potentially put you at risk for having diabetes, and be less mobile so that I can look at you a little chunkier. I think people should be able to accept me for who I am, and it hurts my feelings when people ask me, "What happened to you?" like something bad happened to me. This is who I am, and I'm so happy, and I feel so good, and I'm athletic — I can run 10 miles without getting out of breath — and I love being this person. It's one thing if you're overweight, but I just truly don't think it's nice to tell somebody you don't like the way they look if there's nothing wrong with them. So I definitely want to send that to the masses, because it really, really hurts my feelings. It does. And I don't think it's fair that I should have to fight myself in accepting myself when I know there's nothing wrong with me.
I understand Trish there's only so much we can do to help her she must first hit bottom and help herself. I'd hate to see her end up sick or worse dead and that's the route that it will come to if she doesn't get help. She needs to take time off and find a balance to sort out her health. She's a very sensitive girl and must be handled with white gloves.
Just read on AVN she's happy with her new look and doesn't seem to have a care or a problem in the world. I wish her the best and our concerns for her are only because we care about her.
One thing I'll tell you, if she thinks she was "overweight" when she entered the porn business, she's very wrong. No doubt she thought she was "overweight," but isn't this just another classic symptom? (That's a rhetorical question... of course it is)
Although I respect everyone's thought and opinions on this thread, I do find some of them somewhat hypocritical (Jewel, Melissa). So it's okay to shove plastic bags of fluid into your chest in an attempt to alleviate insecurities about breast size that are brought about because of societal pressures, but it is not okay to give in to the pressure of being thin? And what is the defense always given regarding breast augmentation? - "It's my/her body, so let me/her do what makes me/her feel good about myself/themselves."
Obviously the pursiut of being thin can be taken too far. Just as plastic surgery can. But from the pictures posted on this tread it looks to me that Naomi is far from anorexic. It's clear that she has shed quite a bit of body fat but she is still carrying plenty of muscle mass, which wouldn't be the case if she wasn't consuming calories or was purging.
There are health dangers of keeping an extremely low body fat percentage, more so for women. But only a doctor would be able to tell us if she is putting her internal organs or bone density at risk.
What is most telling to me about the majority of the comments in this thread is the collective perspective of what a healthy body looks like. Despite all the pressures put upon us, as stated in some of the posts here, America is the fatest country in the world, with an estimated 65% of people overweight and nearly 30% considered obese. This is a major problem for this country as it is rapidly steam rolling toward epidemic proportions (pun intended). It is, with 300,000 annual deaths directly attributed to obesity, already a national health crisis, and if it remains unchanged is going to become one of the major financial burdens this country has to deal with. But that conversation is for a different forum.
My point being is that most Americans are overwieght and it is only natural for an overweight person to tell a thin person that he/she should put on a few pounds - you know, the whole safety/comfort in numbers thing. Additionally, when it comes to porn, the whole "Big Booty" obsession has grown, along with our collective waistlines, over the last 10-15 years. This is mostly an American phenomenon as Big Butt porn titles do not sell in Europe and Asia. And unlike many of todays American female porn performers, almost all European girls are thin and fit.
Bottom line, when speaking of porn, body types are a matter of individual taste. When Naomi hit the scene 18 months ago all the Big Booty people loved her. Now that her Big Ass is gone they are all upset.
As long as her weight loss is not a physical or psychological health risk I say we should all shut up and let her do what she wants. Maybe at 22-23 years old she felt like she was already developing weight issues. Who knows, maybe at a weight at which she was carrying 30% or more body fat she was already having health issues (high cholesterol, at risk for diabetes). If this is the case, I'm glad she decided to address it by implementing some self discipline in her diet and exercise routine.
Instead of commenting on Naomi, maybe everyone should take the time to do some self evaluation. Do you get out of breath climbing a couple flights of stairs? Stand naked in front of the mirror and look at those love handles. Turn around and take a look at those dimples in your butt and those rolls of back fat. Look at the lack of muscle mass and definition, the overall softness you see. Then ask yourself the question if that is truly a healthy body you see in the mirror.
As an European myself I often wondered about the "Big Booty" obsession in American porn. I generally prefer American over European porn due many different reasons but that "Big Booty" thing is something I'll never understand. Curves yes - overweight no.
A lot more influence of, and consideration for, African-American, and Latin\Hispanic cultural values, with respect to female attractiveness, exist in American beauty standards, and lately, in American porn.
The historic, "Northern European" beauty standard of thin, long-limbed, pale skinned, light features, while appreciated, is no longer the only, or dominant, influence in American female appreciation.
That's why Katja has to take so much grief at home, and is a goddess here.

Well, if it's true she can comfortably run 10 miles, then that's the end of that -- she's not just okay physically, she's in better physical condition than 99 percent of the rest of us. In that sense, this thread hasn't revealed anything about Naomi, but a lot about the people in here. Being caring doesn't mean rushing to judgment without the facts and playing armchair doctor.
But then, is Naomi to be believed?
Deicide posted some sensible, experience-based comments very near the beginning of this chain. It probably should have ended there.

Am I missing something here? Was it not Queen that gave us that most glorious of all chorus’s ‘fat bottomed girls you make the rocking world go round,’ and they were a bunch of Euros last time I checked.
Look, if Naomi took the weight off to make herself more marketable globally, then she would have had enough savvy to show up and accept her award; thank her agent like she said, make a joke about how much she loves tasting MF’s man juice so some other such nonsense and announce plans that in a year or two she hopes to start her own: ClubNaomi, NaomiVision, Naomi Entertainment or Naomi Productions. Well you get the idea.
The fact remains that her unsightly physical appearance raised alarms to the extent that well meaning people have been carrying on a four page long intervention here. I really hope that this thread will be proven to be a bunch of wasted keystrokes.

There's a huge difference when you get plastic surgery to better yourself and when it's over done. There's also healthy weight loss and unhealthy weight loss to me she looks ill but time will tell. If she's happy no on can do anything for her as she doesn't see she has a problem. In that pic I'm sorry but it is disturbing on how thin she is. I was a gymnast for 15yrs and I must say I have seen girls with eating disorders before and they had plenty of muscle and were able to do hours of exercise. When one gymnast died of a heart attack due to her disease it opened up a lot of people's eyes in that sport. So what's next someone here dies from the disease before anyone lends a helping hand or a shoulder to cry on??? The reason I'm familiar with this is I was the gymnast with the eating disorder and was put in a clinic for months to keep me from killing myself unintentionally. And around the same time I was sick another gymnast died. Open your eyes and take a good hard look and ask yourself if you're ok with this? As I'm not but she's an adult not a child that's the difference here and she cannot be helped unless she's willing to get help. I doubt she'll be getting the work she use to as it's not sexy to look like a skeleton. And ask yourself will you buy her movies and be attracted to her on a box cover looking like this? I apologized to Naomi if I hurt her in anyway as she's a sweet soul but it brings tears to my eyes to have this just pushed under the rug. I guess the next thing will like in most sever cases someone has to die before anything gets done to help these girls.
I just did a quick search of my favorite online rental place, xrentdvd, they have over 200 BBW films, and over half of them promote women over 300lbs, a few have women over 400lbs.
There is no section for thin/fit women.
For the majority of porn viewers to be happy a woman must have large breasts (implants), thick lips (collagen), and large buttocks (sedentary lifestyle).
Now I know why people drive SUVs when gas is $3 a gallon. Bigger is better!
America- The land of big women, big cars and SUVs, Supersize Fries and Coke, and of course the two greatest meals..the BIG MAC and the WHOPPER.
Cheers to you Naomi.. you are doing what you believe in, not what Americans think. You are not anorexic...you are perfect now!
To be honest I don't care anymore as you all went from oh god she looks like shes anorexic to I love her new look. Get a grip she's not a healthy skinny. Girls I like and enjoy that are thin like Ashley Long,Kimberly Kane,Roxy Jezel,Angel Long, Tera Patrick etc... they are thin but they look healthy not starving huge diffrence and Naomi will see her career suffer as Trish even said they won't hire her with this new look and I'm sure many others feel the same.

Well Jewel you're speaking with some concrete experience and knowledge so I think we've got to take your view seriously about how she may be sick but still able to do extended, serious cardio. In that case, that 10 mile run ought to be done on a treadmill in a doctor's office, to make sure she's at least of sound body.
This is all very frustrating to me. Who does this girl really trust? Please speak up and encourage her, that for their own peace of mind, will she just go through the motions and get a check-up at a doctor. Probably someone from her pre-porn life can get through to her like that, but then that person is probably not an ADT-er...

Keep in mind there's more to it than just the weight issue. She let herself get rattled by a loser at AEE and blew off the award ceremony.
This could have been the highlight of her career, but instead she may have just become her own worst enemy. Talk about star crossed.

Take a peek at this boxcover picture. This is the Naomi that we're all admiring from a year ago. Do you think that looks like 30% body fat, or an unhealthy overweight? Geez - the girl was on the thin side even back then- but she looked healthy as can be. Her face was gorgeous. For her to say that she thought she was overweight at that weight seems just absolutely ridiculous. And I hope she is reading this, because I told her that anyway a month before the convention when we asked her to come into our offices to beg her to NOT stay so crazily skinny for the convention. This is getting to be a long thread, and I forget who it was that said that we may not be helping her by focusing on the appearance aspect of her weight. You may be right.
On a completely different note, I was absolutely floored in a horrible way by her disrespectful interview to AVN about her feelings of winning Best New Starlet. There are girls who dreamed all year of winning that award, and Naomi just gave every single one of them a slap in the face. Maybe it IS just a hunk of lucite, but IMHO, her comments were insulting to every other girl in this business who would have been more than happy to stand on that stage and accept that award. Fuck- Naomi said she didn't even bother to buy a dress for the awards show. Which makes me feel like an ass for defending her and saying that she left Vegas on Saturday morning because of being harassed and bothered by the convention, which is what I was told. So who's lying? The person who told me that Naomi left without notice, or Naomi who says she never planned on attending the awards in the first place? I'm sorry, but this girl needs to understand that at this point in her life, this is her career, and there are certain unwritten ways to either advance or ruin your career.
This is the Naomi of September 2005 that I fell for. If her perspective of herself at that time was that she was fat and overweight, and she feels that now she looks much better, then I think I understand the issue.
There is one aspect of this where we, (you and I), are in agreement. Naomi to me just represents a discretionary income choice. I'm out here in Joe Jackoff land deciding what to buy with my porn dollar, and I am not in the least bit wrapped up in the emotion and sensitivity towards her that many of her friends and associates in the industry have shown here. To their credit, they actually care about her. If Naomi says she is satisfied with herself and her cadaverous look, more power to her. I don't care. As long as she understands that she's lost the fan base that made her what she was in the industry. Maybe she's being true to herself and doesn't care about that either. Sounds like she's got some other issues with the industry as well. I just think that things happened way too fast for this girl, but that's another discussion.
Hopefully, you and others who appreciate her current look can buy enough of her new movies, (if they get made), to offset the money that I haven't spent on her since December 2005, to afford her a lifestyle where she can continue not eating and looking like a skeleton. Good luck to you and her.
As for me, where's the next big booty starlet?
BSD
P.S. - By the way, Naomi does look "thin"."Athletic" however, is a little more subjective.
What the fuck do you mean, Christian? When I have seen the BTS on dvd's with Naomi, she seems such a nice person! I really think you should appreciate her talent more. We, the people, comes in various shapes and forms, against the norms, but not everyone has the genes to look like a triathlon-athlete, like you do. I really had higher thoughts of you, Christian. I have never met Naomi, but then again, I have never met you... I just go with my stomach-feeling and say: I think Naomi seems like a really nice person!!!
Poor Naomi! She seems sweet, yes! I might also be a pervert, but I am ashamed of those dangerous idiots out there harassaing and destroying our performers!!! Kick them into outer space, and castrate them! Naomi, you are ,as always, very beautiful! And to the rest of you: Do you really think this public scapegoat-thing will help Naomi is she has a problem? She is a sensitive person with feelings too. She is a person that needs to be loves, like anybody else!
AVN awards are bullshit payola rewards and I see nothing wrong in her skipping the award show. She did not want to get dressed-up and pretend to be a celebrity being rewarded for excellence in her craft. Those awards do not recognise excellence, only graft.
Christian is correct in his comment about having to know Naomi to get it. It is not something to post in a public forum, but having spent two or three days on set with her, I knew what he meant.
maybe she's of the Amy Reid variety, where - yes it's nice to win, but it's not the end of the world if she doesn't, and its not the best thing that's ever happened to her if she does...
look at the Grammys - a band like Tool won a Grammy, yet only 2 members showed up to accept the award. does that mean they're assholes? maybe it just means they'd prefer to let their work speak for itself, and if they get some recognition for it, great, if not, no big deal...

What she says in the AVN interview is really rather interesting. She's clearly intelligent and nearly has a J.D., and she recognizes the award for what it is: a gold star for the girl who takes a dick up her ass the best. Why is everyone getting so upset that she has a rather distant, ironic take on the porn business? Even at the top of the game, as far as 'respectable', educated people are concerned, you're at the bottom of society. Just because you make a lot of money doesn't change that. Just as it doesn't matter how rich a gangster gets. He's still just a filthy gangster, you know? And I think she's just sayin lets not get too excited about these awards, as if we were real artists doing some high and noble thing. After all, the Oscars themselves are a joke, from the point of view of serious trained actors. Kind of like rock music compared to classical music. Do we really think J.S. Bach and Lincoln Park are in the same league?
She likes porn for her own reasons, as she said -- to end her marriage and explore her sexuality. But not because she has some laughable notion that porn, or the AVN, etc., means anything. I mean, she said she's interested in being an activist and a legal advocate. She's got big dreams and people should respect that.
So Naomi has a different point of view than the average porn girl -- what's wrong with that? Good luck Naomi, stay healthy (that's important), and do things in a way that satisfies you.
You do remember Sartre turned down the Nobel, right? But now I go too far...
I think it's fine she didn't get caught up in the whole award thing as it's not the end of the world but maybe she shouldn't be in a business that her heart isn't into.
And she probably could have been a little more gracious and a little less disrespectful towards an industry, and a lot of people who have afforded her a lot of opportunity and made it possible for her to have a nice living.
But then, at 22 or 23, or whatever she is, who among us had it completely together as far as seeing the big picture?

Now this is indisputable. She's not going to make a lot of friends giving interviews like that. Maybe she's already thinking about getting out and going back for that law degree...
That I wouldn't say. Right from the beginning, and I apologize for not saying this earlier, I thought "I hope that's a bad picture that makes things look worse than what it is". I still hope that and cannot judge too strongly because I have only seen that picture due to not being able to make the show this year. From what I see, I think she's in much the same situation you were in Jewel, and I hope that she can find the same care you did.
For another "if you read this", Naomi, if you read this please realize that although many of us don't know you, we do care. We've heard a lot from those who have met you saying what a sweet person you are, and I don't doubt that (partially because of some of who said it). Assholes always seem to live forever. We don't need to keep losing sweet people too early.
"Vegetarianism for me is about saying ‘yes’ to things - even meat." - Coupling
There's two ways to look at Naomi's comments about the awards, one as a fan and one as somebody who works in the industry...
From a fan perspective, it isn't too bad. This girl knows that maybe porn isn't all there is to life and that we realize that there are bigger things than taking a dick in your ass.
From the perspective of somebody in the industry, it's a major slap in the face. Whether you think the show is all rigged, all legit, or somewhere in between, this is THE SHOW of the year and she basically gave everybody both fingers with her nose in the air telling them they're a bunch of losers who don't really matter.
Sadly, those two come together because if she doesn't think the people making things for the fans matter, then she doesn't think the fans matter either. If she reads this thread, I hope she takes a lesson in class from Mia Rose, MY Newbie of the Year!

I feel utterly disrespected by Naomi. EVERYONE has their opinions on her now. And, expressing them openly. So.... I guess, its time to finish my thoughts, and tell you how this girl made feel.
I have wanted Starlet, ever since it was first brought up to me when I first started a year ago. No matter what anyone thinks about the damn award... Rigged, not rigged, Stupid, pointless, "yay I can take a cock in my ass" or an honer, knowing that everyone knows that YOU are the most sexual, sought after, new performer to come in to the adult industry. To be recognized for your scenes, and how intense, and how great the sexual energy was between your random partner, and how hot, how real, and how much they can people off..... Fuck... Thats what I wanted.
I knew that this year had A LOT of competition... A LOT .... So, When Naomi was called and didn't even have the common curdosy to show her face at the awards.... I was FURIOUS. I was hurt. Yes by some stupid award. : /
If you don't give a shit about the awards, or the customized gifts fans bring you "like the little teddy bear, with your name on it, left in the booth" get out of this business and do something you care about. Don't make us look like fools. Intentional or not, I have zero respect for Naomi when it comes to XXX...
No matter what you did in your scenes to win that fucking award, you should be fucking happy to win it. Not, "meh, so?" .... your a joke.
"SUPER SORRY TO VENT and sound like a mean cunt face"
And Astro... Thank you so fuckin much... I didn't even see that til you put the link. Thank you. :)

This line of reasoning is very contradictory.
If AVN/AEE was so inconsequential to Naomi, then why did she go to Vegas in the first place? And after the damage was already done why bother going to the trouble of trying to explain yourself in an AVN interview?
Instead of being the toast of the town, her appearance scared the hell of her fans and colleagues, caused her agent and sponsors a lot of aggravation and may have jeopardized a once promising career. I'm sad for Naomi.
