Astro makes an excellent distinction between the fan and industry perspectives; I was writing from the former. I suppose we've got to accept that, whatever else she is, Naomi is, on a professional level, an ingrate. No one in any field likes that, so I'm sympathetic to Mia's frustration. Bono, I don't think it's about sour grapes about not winning the award; I think, if I understand Mia correctly, its a matter of professionalism. There is a bit of the "biting the hand that feeds you" going on here; that's a shame, and that's not going to go over well in any future profession, Naomi.
Oh well, I think both the Rose sisters are way hotter than Naomi anyway; I looked at that boxcover tricia posted -- so what? Have you seen the Roses? haha...
Bobo.... I love you. Thank you so much, but Lamud is correct. It was the slap in the face part that got me. If she would have gone on stage, said her thank yous this would be different.
I think Naomi should better leave the industry by now. With the recent look AND the recent statements I doubt she'll have many friends or work opportunities in this industry any longer.
Somehow all this talk reminds me of the Friends episode where Chandler's boss slaps his ass as a reward, which he hated but his coworkers envied.
As someone who didn't bother showing up at any of his graduations, skipped out on showing up for an award or two, and sternly told my parents that I didn't appreciate their throwing me a surprise party when I specifically had told them I didn't want any hoopla over something I did, I sympathise with Naomi.
We all have different priorities in life. If someone values something more than I do that I get or deserve, that's their problem not mine. It's not a statement that I think I'm better than someone or consider the establishment beneath me (the slap in the face argument). I have more pressing concerns than patting myself on the back or having someone else pat it for me.

Sure, but doesn't professionalism demand that one participate in the basic rituals of the community in question? The fact that one does it even though one may not personally have done it if it weren't part of the practices of the community, is precisely what we mean in saying, for instance, "Oh, but he's a professional. He'll do things the right way." It is this showing of deference to community practices that Naomi didn't do. She made an exception of herself, wasn't a "team player", as they say, and that might be cool and assertive and what not, but it precisely isn't professional, right?
Do we believe Naomi's reasoning for leaving Vegas early, or do we believe what Tricia told us earlier in this thread? +1 Tricia.
I think Naomi was just trying to save face in that interview. I think she left because she was made to feel like a turd by some fanboy who noticed that she looks like skeletor and who didn't leave her a teddy bear with her name on it.

I think he meant cultural pressure, which is often exerted obliquely, and is responsible in part for the formation and construction of desire; the resultant desires can seem to us entirely our own or natural and independent, when in fact they can rather easily be traced to various historical and cultural forces operative in shaping the very fabric of a society and its subjects at a particular moment in time.
Everyone believes you had a desire to have larger breasts. The issue I guess from this perspective is, why is it exactly that you have that desire? These are difficult and interesting questions...

I really don't see anything disrespectful in that interview. She didn't say that the awards are silly, or rigged; nor did she insult the performers, companies, or fans who do care about the awards; she just said that she personally doesn't see what the big deal is about them. It's a perfectly valid point of view, and in no way inherently disrespectful.

What are you talking about...the awards were closed to the public until this year?...and Shy Love has two master's degrees, right. If she's 22/23 years old, at best she would have started law school this year. And it appears she was a little too busy with porn to do that.
All I see in this thread is a lot of talk, if you think it's her problem to solve herself, move on to somthing else. If you think she needs an intervention, call up someone at Digital P because they are already mulling over such a move. She clearly has a "unhealthy" thin look to her, and usually one's gut instinct on this is correct (pardon the pun). If she looked wafer-thin like this before porn, it simply means she was unhealthy back then too. As for "getting into porn to explore your sexuality" and doesn't like all that goes with "the biz," she needs to get out of the biz and take some lessons from any of the hundreds of "amateur" website women who do what they want, when they want. Heck, she could even mix in some law school with that type of setup.

Just for the sake of equalization, look at the likes of Lindsay Lohan, the Olsen twins, .... and bigger names ... it's an epidemic in a culture that is so overpoweringly "lookist" that it can't help but warp self-perceptions.
The thing is, when someone like Martin Scorsese holes up for months in a shuttered room doing cocaine til his head explodes - as he did in the late 1970s -- he's crafty enough to keep it out of the public eye. But when you rely on how you look to live, it's a glass house scenario, and perhaps even tougher to face up to a problem.
Everyone's got some kind of issue, a challenge, a disorder, a fucked-up streak, that they have to contend with, or live with, or suffer ... but most of us can keep it private. (Especially the Fight Club members ... ooops) ...
At least, those porny American Apparel ads emphasize young girls with real bodies (even bodies with hair, wow!). Which is a step in the right direction.

In the interview, she speaks of working toward a "law degree;" she does not use the term "JD." I have read various, conflicting, accounts of her background; it is at least possible that she is referring to schooling that took place outside of the US, and which may not mirror the American, "get a bachelors degree, then go to law school for the JD" system.
You are a hairsplitter aren't you Patel? Okay so now you think she's getting an LLB from where, Cambridge? Or maybe Monash, Down Under? Or maybe she prefers doing undergraduate law degrees in South Africa or somewhere else in the Commonwealth...
If this, remarkably, is actually the case, this woman is still being very misleading, to say the least...
Though perhaps there is some American graduate legal degree short of the J.D. -- that's a possible out.
And also, again with the hairsplitting, it might be that Naomi didn't explicitly say something outright negative about the industry, but if you think her tone was gracious and tactful in that interview, and that many industry insiders wouldn't be at least mildly irked reading it, I'd start to doubt that youre a native English speaker, my friend.

If, remarkably, it is actually the case that you are not a person who spend a ton of time and energy creating web personae just to be a dick, I will point out to you that universities, and legal systems, exist outside of the USA, the British Commonwealth, and South Africa. It is possible that Naomi hails from one of those "other" places (I have variously heard her described as Croatian and Israeli); that she was, prior to her involvement in the porn business in LA, a student at a university in her country of origin; and that she was working toward a degree which would, in said country, be described fairly and accurately as a "law degree" (but not as a juris doctor degree).
The tone in the AVN interview was neither ingracious nor tactless, unless you equate candor with an absence of tact. It is clear that some "industry insiders" do not appreciate Naomi's perspective on the awards; I never suggested otherwise.
i have run 17 marathons and 3 Ironman Triathlons, and i am telling you that there is no fucking way she is a regular runner. no way. and 10 miles? no way.
morbid, you know i like you bro....but you say that and you dont ever bring up the point that accepting that award is also saying thanks to your fans AND all of the directors/performers/producers that you worked for/with all year.
Not to mention, in this case, that could affect her chance for future employment with said people.

when i went to 2006 AEE was the first time i see her, me and my wife belive she was brazilian or something because she have a awsome body(my wife get in love with her) that story of overweight was bullshit. Naomi have a serious problem and the first step is to accept it.
I am off to turn on the TV and watch countless commercials of pills that make you lose weight, to see the bowflex guy tell me that with 10 minutes a day I can look like him, to turn on the discovery channel and watch a few gastric bypasses, to watch Dan Marino tell me that if I lose 20 pounds I will get my sex life back....and to know that the United States is obsessed with losing weight and having sixpack abs....but I know when I return to the internet and look for porn...anyone that is thin or fit will be anorexic, unhirable, or sick.
Since Naomi is not fit to hire now, she could make millions modelling pills or exercise equipment.. a role model for soccer moms and will be lusted after by lazy couch potatoes.

Guys, I only mean that the girl did when the trophy whether any of us like it or not. Maybe she is a sweet person, good role model and maybe a lot of other people think she is beautiful, I do. But regardless, I just think people should be a good sport about it and not try to rip another performer apart, that's all. It really hurts people when others do that and it makes the catty ones look insecure and ugly. Should they get the trophy instead? Why hurt someone? She didn't ask for that. It's evil and wrong to pick on someone like that, whether or not you personally feel she is attractive or not.
