For the last couple of days, clips I've downloaded from BangBros in wmv format will not play in my windows media player (wmp 11 on vista). When I try to play them, it tells me that the player "might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file". Thing is, clips I've saved before this happened still play fine and other wmv clips I download from other paysites still play fine. I have the same problem downloading mpeg clips from BangBros, but I can still get those to play in my VLC media player. Anybody know anything I can do to fix this? [Link] |

| DrP0rn0 Senior Member 1836 Posts 5/04 | Posted - Mar 11 2010 : 5:46PM In most cases VLC and/or Media Player Classic *will* play those files, but generally can't seek reliably or at all depending upon the file and the player. I'm guessing that your downloads are terminating for whatever reason before they're actually finished. Try comparing their sizes on disk to the sizes listed on the download pages. It's *possible* that BB has started using a WMV codec that you don't have installed. That doesn't seem likely given the version of WMP you have, but it's possible. Personally, I'd use GSpot, or MediaInfo to figure out which video and audio codecs are used in the files you're having trouble with. My last issue was with the VC-1 codec for WMV files. WMP 11 fixed that for me as it includes it. Since you already have WMP 11, that's probably not it. Best of luck. Dr. P [Link] |
| MrTibbs Member 372 Posts 7/09 | Posted - Mar 14 2010 : 10:02PM Looks like I've found a way around this problem though, and it's something I should have thought of in the first damn place; BangBros has a link to the old interface (the site encourages you to use the beta version, which is the way I've been using it since I joined). And what do you know, clips download and play w/out a hitch. I contacted the site's tech support after my last post and they suggested I download the k lite codec pack, but I already tried that. Funny they didn't think to suggest trying to older version of the site ... I guess that's on me though. [Link] |

I often encounter improperly encoded wmv files that will play but won't let you seek or "fast forward," like DrPOrnO said. Using ASFBin on these files fixes the header. [Link] |
