not sure if this is the right forum for this but i need some advice on shooting a scene. my girlfriend and i want to shoot a scene together but i've never done this before. obviously, i will do some pov shots which should be pretty easy but what about non-pov shots? should we just put the camera in one place and just film that way? any advice would be appreciated.

You pretty much have the idea already unless you can handle or want a camera man. My suggestion is an adjustable tripod and a camcorder with a remote. Although the remote wont' do much more than be a zoom tool you can use from afar. The only other thing I would suggest is framing the shot before you shoot, maybe feed the camcorder into a nearby TV and see what you can as far as where the action is going down - nothing worse than getting the middle of your back and no action
