Lily and Lily were awesome together in Girls Kissing Girls 9. I passed on Portrait, but this sounds more up my street. Excited to see Graham Travis's and Elegant Angel's approach to features.

Looks amazing Graham, whose music is used in the trailer? Thrilled to see Liza Del Sierra in this as well.

This definitely looks like it has the makings of an excellent and genuine XXX feature. I'm very excited.

Wow, what a great movie. This one is a tearjerker. It is about a friendship that reconnects after five years but ultimately falls apart. Anna (Lily Carter) arrives in Los Angeles to meet up with Jacky (Lily LaBeau). It's obvious that while they have a friendship, they're very different people. Anna is the straight-laced girl, Jacky is the wild child. Also, the feeling about the level of the friendship isn't necessarily mutual. I think they ultimately grew apart, but Anna really wants that love and attention. As she said in one scene, Jacky is all she will have once her grandmother dies. In the movie's final scene, Anna does find out her grandmother died, but I think the reason she doesn't tell Jacky is because she has had enough of her. I highly recommend this movie.
By the way, is "Wasteland" really from the same studio that released movies such as "Big Wet Asses" and "It's A Mommy Thing"? It might was well be from a different planet. It's really an arthouse movie, but one with hardcore sex scenes. If you like indie dramas, then this movie is for you.

I see a creature, fierce and unrestrained
A hazardous raging fire, and yet I reach out towards her flame
The darkness from her depths, guiding me into her soul
Drawing me into her wasteland… into her world.

I did a review of the digital version of "Wasteland" over at my blog. Since I have an Elegant Angel membership, I watched it there instead of buying it on DVD... hence, not submitting it here (which is strictly for the DVDs).

I wish the movie had a theatrical release. It's definitely Laemmle/Landmark material.

^That's what I said. The movie was made for arthouses. It's more in line with indie/arthouse movies than typical porn fare.

That's so awesome about the two festival awards. Sure, the movie will win at least most of the AVN and XBIZ awards it's nominated for, but I think this is a bigger accomplish because they're not porn awards.

Just watched it again today, actually ended up ffing right through some of the Lilys' scenes, so, yes, I think it works quite well as a standalone soft core film, or any indie film for that matter. Very well deserved awards indeed. Congrats, Graham, Lily, Lily, and all involved!

I think the key is to cut the sex scenes down rather than cut them to soft...

I went to the film festival screening, and it was awesome. The movie is even more depressing on the big screen. Anna comes off even more as a tortured soul. This is definitely the way to see it.
I met both Lilys and Graham. They are the nicest people you could ever meet. They signed my DVD, and also a poster. I asked them a bunch of questions about the movie. They were happy to answer anything I asked about it. They're totally great people to be around. I'm glad I had this opportunity.

This is off topic, so I apologize, though he's in WASTELAND so it's somewhat related.
I noticed that Xander Corvus received the 'best actor - feature" award.
Why do people keep deluding themselves into thinking he's a talented actor? He's mediocre at best and his performances are always one note. Simply put, he's boring to watch on screen.
Hell, even James Deen (who is also massively overrated for his thespian abilities) has a hell of a lot more range and ability.
Did Steven St. Croix and Randy Spears not appear in a single feature role last year? Both are wonderful actors and probably the best working today.

Yep. Xbiz awards Wasteland Feature Movie of the Year. Director of the Year - Feature Release - Graham Travis
Best Scene - Feature Movie - Lily Carter, Lily LaBeau, Mick Blue, Ramon Nomar, David Perry & Toni Ribas
And a cool gift, Best Actress - Feature Movie - (tie) Lily Carter & Lily LaBeau.

Steve was in Torn and absolutely deserved the Best Actor award for his performance. I didn't see Xander in that particular role.

His voice kinda bothers me too, although I know it's unfair to criticize something he can't control.
Again, what I find so offputting about him is his blandness. He's not a spectacularly bad actor whose dreadful performances are masochistically compelling, but he's not a good actor. He's dull, lifeless in his roles, as if he were just wandering through them without any understanding of the characters he plays.
Getting back to WASTELAND, at least his role was small and his character mostly relegated to sexual set dressing.

...and he got it, maybe not from the XCritic Fan Choicers, but from the XBiz Awards voters/jury (?).
You wonder indeed why there were only four performances worthy to be nominated for Best Actor (Feature) at XCritic, and why St.Croix wasn't among them. Btw, this is the category with the highest number of voters that skipped the question (415 of 1154, so more than a Third of voters). That could indicate that the voters indeed did not really find in the nominations what they deemed as the performances best fit to be rewarded. (Of course, maybe its just because porn fans are less interested in the acting of the male performers in general)
Xander Corvus: One could argue that he profited from the fact that Anthony Rosano competed against himself, with two different noms that split the fan vote for him (20 % for The Friend Zone, 20 % for his role in The Valley).
But all this is OT.
Congrats to Wasteland and to all members of its team!
For the XCritic Fan Coice Awards and also for the XBiz Awards (Best Feature, Best Director - Feature, Best Actresses - Feature, Best Scene - Feature)

absolutely agree about xander corvus. I'm not someone who can judge acting talent but what I don't like is when you get a pornstar who thinks they're some amazing actor or some shit and it comes through in their performance. That's xander. He's smarmy.
But about Wasteland - so glad it won all the awards it did! Especially the Lily's for acting. Can't wait to see what EA has planned for their feature this year, it'll be hard to top wasteland.
