It seems that there is a lack of production lately. Do others notice this? Is there a reason? Usually, there are more titles being marketed in advance of release. What is going on?

as a stab in the dark, I'd say it might have something to do with the general state of the world economy and the strength of dollar compared to euro and pound.
I used to import my porn for the US, a $30 DVD would work out at around £15, it's now more like £25 which I see as far too expensive. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who's holding back on imported titles.
Obviously, this isn't the only reason, but when you consider the state of the wider economy, there are going to small issues like this chipping away at a companies ability to spend the money they would have a few years ago. This is the same with most business, not just entertainment/porn etc. It is more expensive and more difficult to finance a project and the customer base is tightening its belts.

I noticed the same thing. As a consumer, all I can say is that I just don't bother to rent porn anymore. It seems to have evolved deeper into the control of fewer producers who do not appeal to my tastes. Not really into dads doing their stepdaughters or moms teaching their daughters to suck dick. The Russian websites are booming if you're into seeing the same two or three uncircumcised Russian dudes pumping foreskin in hot young cuties without any lube. It's too easy for me to see it somewhere for free, verify that it's the same old faces doing the same old tricks and continue searching.
