This issue was pointed out by user blueron at PU, and while it seems to be a new development, people are substantiating it. I am surprised that no one has pointed it out here yet.
Apparently, existing members can continue to download through the end of the month, but new members can no longer download videos. It's streaming only now.

That'll see their membership crater. However, there might be 1-2 videos a month I would want to download, which is why I'm not a member.
Then again, it is not hard to record a video stream.

For me it's this simple. No downloads = no interest. I watch all my smut by downloading it then sending it to a flash memory stick so I can plug it into my bluray player's usb port and watch it on my old TV. If I like a scene enough to keep I will burn a 1080p copy onto a BD-R collection.

Streaming only? Huh, I guess Mofos doesn't want members at their site. At least that one site less I'll have to pay for.

I'm a fan of downloading, but I can see where they're going in a business sense. They want you to stay a member in order to watch their movies... like Netflix. You can't download movies on Netflix, only stream, and they're huge. Porn consumers are too used to downloading. I'm not sure if you can put the genie back in the bottle at this point.

The genie was let out of the bottle in the other direction when porn companies started allowing people to download scenes into their computers in the early 2000s. Now people could have porn stores inside their own computers and create their own compilation movies. It was like the difference between having to go to a movie theater to see a mainstream movie and actually OWNING it on VHS. Now Mofos is trying to go back to the 20th century pre internet? No way will people accept that. If Mofos does this people will either pretend it doesnt exist or will try to download the scenes with download programs. If all porn sites do this people will find it a lot easier to curb their porn addiction and not watch porn and pursue other hobbies.

The funny thing about streaming-only sites is that most people who do end up with downloadable scene versions are those who get them from porn piracy sites.

I just can't watch anything on PC , for working reasons , there's no way I'd join a site who is streaming only , not to mention those who are as such plus contain DRM and can be viewed only logged which means up until you are a member or even from the PC who first stored it , a Japanese site offers an exchange if you have to update ypur pC and want to be able to still watch your porn.

That's a bold if not a stupid move.
It's not like Mofos has truly unique/nice content where they might have a chance of retaining enough customers for the site to run as normal.
I'd almost bet money they'll lose a lot of customers and be forced to cut back on the frequency of updates and even production values to make money.
Either way, I for one won't be subscribing again.

The real problem will come when they lose their core of long-term members. There are the members that come and go each month, but then there are the ones that renew. They provide a much more stable and predictable revenue stream. How will they feel when they faithfully renew their membership every month, only to see that now it's f*** you, you can't download anymore?
We can all speculate, but I think there is already almost universal agreement on this thread. If this is an experiment by Mofos, it is a bad one, and it cannot end well.

^ I suspect there aren't all that many people who pay for Mofos month-to-month, every month....there's so little activity in the scene comment sections, and the Mofos section on the Brazzers forum never took off at all, so my impression is that they don't have a lot of "committed" members. I wouldn't be surprised if many are like me - I got it as a $50 lifetime add-on to a Brazzers sub years ago.

That's a strange decision but they might be taking a page out of Digital Playground's book, who now have an option to download but for an extra fee per scene. So you pay a membership already and now you have to pay additional per scene for the privilege of keeping it independent of a shitty internet connection. It may he that this is what Mofos is thinking, I guess we'll see. Either way it don't bother me as a member, I can download the streams with Free Download Manager either way.

Looks like I just found out what I'll be doing this weekend... downloading.
I'm an existing member -- unlimited, tied to my Brazzers membership for as long as I maintain my Brazzers membership.
I don't see how they can take away membership benefits you've already paid them for, so we'll see what happens.
If they do, they can count on a complaint being filed with the Florida Attorney General.

Is it possible that what's going on (i.e. new) is similar to what DigitalPlayground is doing?
Here's what DigitalPlayground is doing:
(I would be a "Lifetime PornPortal member")
DPDownloadsFAQ1of2.JPG
DPDownloadsFAQ2of2.JPG
This was NOT what I was expecting when I joined DigitalPlayground.
In effect, they beat you out of "two months" to "90 days" of downloads -- unless you are willing to pay extra to download the files!
Some files are NEVER available for free download, no matter what membership level you have.
Again, NOT what I was expecting
DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ
OK, I'm going to check the MOFOS site to see what I can figure out.

Actually, Digital Playground was a streaming only site when I was there a few years ago, so them allowing downloads for a price is technically progress. And if I remember correctly, their "Blockbuster" movies (stuff like Nurses, Teachers, etc. that featured multiple contract stars) you couldn't even stream. Also, they didn't do split scenes then either (if you wanted to watch a specific scene, it would actually stream the whole movie but start the stream at the start of the scene).

^ Yeah, I was surprised back when Manwin/Mindgeek brought DP into the PornPortal access because the site was set up so completely different from all the other brands they had assembled, and seemed bound to be unsatisfying for people whose experience was just with Brazzers/Mofos/RK to that date. Still possible though that they've determined that "downloads for a fee" is a business model they want to bring to other brands...I guess we'll know in a few days.
Count me in the camp of those who won't have any trouble circumventing a no-download restriction (thanks, Chrome Developer Console!) so it's going to be little more than a minor nuisance, but still...

Yeah but they may not have a choice like Mozilla last year if they want to stay relevant that is.
"Mozilla was in a tough position when it decided to adopt DRM in its browser. It’s already having a hard time hanging on to its existing users and most of its users probably don’t care all that much about DRM, but they would care if Netflix suddenly stopped working."

I have a different theory. Maybe they were lagging behind in terms of revenue and Manwin decided that they were an expendable site to use for a market experiment. Note that their twitter has been cancelled too. Maybe they just want to see exactly how much of a hit their revenues take, and if they harm to Mofos brand in the process, then so be it.

^ I'm still downloading MOFOS scenes today (Wednesday 2015-09-02).
I haven't seen any changes in how the site works for me.
I'm thinking that my speculation that MOFOS may be adopting the "DigitalPlayground" model I mentioned earlier, may be what's in the works.
When you think about it, allowing monthly members to sign-up for one or two months a year -- and downloading a year's worth of content for a month's worth of revenue -- is not a sustainable business model. Indeed, many posters on ADT say this is exactly what they do across many different websites.

I too can still download scenes from Mofos, at least I could when I checked earlier today. Maybe streaming only or the Digital Playground set up is only for those who join from now on.

When is your billing cycle up? They might be waiting for that before they switch people over to the new system.

Yeah I thought EvilAngel had started doing that last time I joined since there was no download option showing up for me and was only able to stream.
Must've been a technical glitch or maybe some sort of waiting period or something because it did allow me to download like the day after I signed up and didn't have any problems after that downloading.

Scenes at evilangel.com are streaming-only until the corresponding DVD has been released. The download button used to make that clear (by listing the date until which it's locked), but in the recent site redesign they've decided the hide the download option altogether. Typically the scene releases are scheduled such that the last scene comes out on the DVD release date, so if there are still scenes listed as "coming soon" for a movie, chances are the already-available scenes are not downloadable yet.

^ I don't want to derail, but I have not got the first idea as to how Evil Angel decide when to make their movies downloadable. You can have one movie from Mike Adriano that will start making scenes available to download on a daily basis so that the final scene commences with the official release date of the movie, and yet you can have another one of his movies in the same month that will only allow streaming up until the release date. The same could be said for any of the other primary directors in the company. It's like there is no consistency and for me it's just frustrating because you can never predict with 100% certainty when your scene or scenes are going to come out so it's difficult to be excited when you then find you can't watch it when you thought you could. Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest.

Then that probably explains it. It's either you get switched when you get rebilled, or all current members will keep download ability while all new members won't have it.

I'm confussed, as a member of Brazzers with portal access to Digital Playground for over 2 years can I now download scenes from Digital Playground.
I've exam the site and see no indication that you can download their scenes either for a fee or free. What am I missing?
If you can downland please advise how.
Thanks in advance

I answered this earlier in this thread.
My only questions are:
(1) Are you a monthly member, or did you purchase "unlimited access... for as long as you maintain your Brazzers primary membership"?
(2) If you purchased "unlimited access," and can't download currently -- and you should be able to based on the DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ I posted above -- I'm wondering if you aren't being held to the membership terms for DigitalPlayground that were in effect when you added the membership to your PornPortal?
IMPORTANT: With DigitalPlayground, you can't download scenes for the first two months after they are added to the site!
Try scrolling back through the updates until you get to scenes that are more than two months old.
You should have no problem downloading most of them.

But I can download from other sites with them quite easily .I'll try the one you suggested. Thanks for the reply.

Just found this topic, anyone know if it's still the same with Mofos? Can new members download?. Not sure if this is related, but another reality site I am a member of www.realgirlsgonebad.com is also streaming only, i have been a member since day 1 and they have never offered downloads, and have never responded to my messages regarding adding this feature, it must be for security reasons, to be fair it's got me hooked as i can't get the stuff anywhere else so I need to stay a member to get their updates, which bring me back to Mofos, their content is more set up, I prefer the public reality stuff, so would only sign up to Mofos if downloads were possible, otherwise would not be worth it to me.

Only tangentially related to the original topic of the thread, but shortly after canning downloads for recent members, Mofos also introduced a VIP subscription tier, the most tangible benefit of which is that you get to see scenes three days early. (But still not download, I presume, if you've joined only recently.) The great irony of all that is that there are now two ways to get both downloadable files and early releases - 1) happen to be an old member and pay extra for VIP, or 2) seek out pirated porn. If you're a Mofos subscriber who doesn't fall into category 1, you can thank the company for shafting you despite your status as a paying customer.
(I'm not personally affected - I can download and I don't give a hoot about the option to see scenes early - but that kind of business still irks me, if only because it makes me wonder what's next.)

I know this thread is many months old now, but I didn't know about it.
As a matter of fact, I just went to Mofos about an hour ago and joined for 1 year. And like a dummy, I didn't realize that they don't allow downloads.
As soon as I realized there were no downloads (about 30 minutes after signing up), I contacted them immediately through chat and asked for a refund.
They said it was non-refundable, What a ripoff!

This review http://www.adultreviews.com/review/amateur/mofos.html claims that:
Unfortunately, I can not verify the above claim!
This review http://www.mrpinks.com/porn-reviews/mofos states:
I am a MOFOs member, so I just went and checked what the "VIP Membership" adds to your regular membership.
It says absolutely nothing about adding the ability to download!
And, at an additional recurring cost of $9.95/month, appears to be an even bigger ripoff than joining the site as a new member and finding out you can't download anything

Contact your credit card company and contest the charge.
Then, politely inform MOFOs that you will be filing a complaint with your state's attorney general if they decide to still refuse a refund and/or challenge your complaint with your credit card company.

Obviously trying to staunch the bleeding from illegal downloads since most of the stuff on the tube site and torrents is obviously being uploaded by members of those sites but I can see why many would dislike it. A kinda damned if they do, damned if they don't situation.
They may be thinking like many bigger tech companies you can get people hooked on then switch the delivery model and a minority may complain but the majority will just swallow it and move on. There's been rumblings about Apple going stream-only instead of downloads for music for instance.

It's not like the streaming-only setup used by most porn sites does anything to stop piracy. Most releases on evilangel.com are not downloadable by members for a few days (until the corresponding DVD drops), yet the scenes still get pirated the very first day. And as I mentioned earlier, all that the Mofos business model change has done is to make the scenes appear on piracy sites three days earlier than regular members can watch them. That's just a massive joke being perpetrated on paying customers.
Anyway, the average site subscriber might not know how to get around the lack of a download link, but the pirates clearly do.

I'd press them hard on this "satisfaction guaranteed" promise!
They do not qualify or limit this promise in any way.
Be sure to share that with your state attorney general, too (if you can't get MOFOs to see the light)
BTW, be sure to "right-click and save as" the image, so you have it for your records in case they take it down.

^ They don't mention downloads anywhere.
Zero information. No yes or no. No FAQ to review.
In fact, finding out anything is an exercise in futility
"Satisfaction Guaranteed," however, means something, yes?
Also, item 16. Disclaimer starts with,
Someone quickly reading through the Terms and Conditions could read the above and certainly think that "downloads" were part of what they were purchasing.
Also, item 8. Refunds, when read completely, certainly implies that refunds are possible given the right circumstances.
I believe that this is a classic case of being the "right circumstances" (i.e. a purchaser didn't get what he thought he was buying, and acted immediately to resolve the issue via a refund).
I think his credit card company will think so, too.
IF -- as bluemoononmonday states -- he contacted them immediately, "about 30 minutes after signing up," then I maintain that this is clearly a "satisfaction guaranteed" issue.
Obviously, the issue can be argued either way in a court of law (which, of course, isn't going to happen).
HOWEVER, the point is to make MOFOs see the light, and refund the guy's money.
The fact is that, MOFOs up until recently did allow downloads.
This is a change in policy that will catch many, if not most, new subscribers unaware.
Sure, MOFOs doesn't mention downloads, but that shouldn't mean that they're not responsible for the problem.
The bottom line is that they work very hard at telling you nothing -- and that's bullshit!
A reputable company would at least have a FAQ that would address and include the issue of downloads, and what their policy is.
Again, nothing!
FWIW, the entire family of "Brazzers" sites seems to allow downloads (I'm a member of most of them).
It's an entirely reasonable assumption/expectation that MOFOs would also.
If you're going to change the business model for the site, they owe it to customers to be upfront about it.
MOFOs intransigence in this matter is unacceptable!
