Yet there are several who have enjoyed fairly lengthy careers or who were fairly popular before leaving the business, without venturing into the more extreme acts. Examples: Jennifer Luv -- did no anal that I'm aware of and only did one scene with multiple cocks that I'm aware of, a scene in which she was never engaged with more than one simultaneously Charmane Starr -- a fairly limited number of anala appearances and only one scene with two cocks that I'm aare of, years ago, early in her career Dani Woodward -- did one very rare gangbang scene that I'm aware of, limited her IR scenes, and did no anal or blowbangs Penny Flame -- no IR; can't recall any anal or scenes with multiple cocks Sunny Lane -- no IR, anal, or muti-cock scenes that I'm aware of Avy Scott -- a goodly amount of anal work later in her career, and she was never averse to IR, but I can't think of any multi-cock scenes involving her Ginger Lee -- a multi-cock scene in a "1 Lucky Fuck" episode; other than that, a pretty tame career, AFAIK I'm curious, then, as to how these performers have managed to enjoy what surely must be considered decent careers without going the route of Sasha Grey, Jasmine Byrne, and others. Put another way, how could a woman who wants to limit herself to the types of scenes that Penny Flame and Sunny Lane have limited themselves to, enjoy the success and longevity that they have. As others have mentioned, if a girl is extraordinarally pretty or attractive, with a fan base generated principly on her beauty, then she does have a much easier time calling her own shots and or resisting pressures to go places she doesn't want to go in porn. And in gonzo porn, that basically reduces down to anal or interracial. Those are the only two real walls that girls have to decide whether they want to climb in mainstream gonzo. (I'm not including pissing and bukakke and Midnight Prowl type stuff, which falls into the realm of fetish as far as I'm concerned. However, even with that, there are girls who will do that stuff, and STILL won't do anal or IR.) Maybe we can include multiple partner scenes as well, especially if it involves one girl taking on multiple boys. Even if anal isn't part of the mix, some girls still ain't down with that. Likewise, if a girl has a transcendent on-screen personality that really shines through in her work, or if she is a spectacular performer at what she DOES do, she can thrive in porn despite the things that she does not do. Gianna Michaels and Sunny Lane are good examples of this. Finally, if a girl has some "hook", or distinct physical feature that makes her unique, then there is room in porn for her as well, and the good ones can often parlay that into a long, successful career. Brandy Talore comes to mind. I think that Sara Jay has gotten more mileage out of having a monster booty, without succumbing to the demands for her to do anal, than any big butt girl in the history of porn. And Alexis Texas ain't far behind. People have been begging for her to do anal since day one, yet she has been on more boxcovers than anyone, and has gotten rich in the last 15 months without doing it. Such is the power of her ass. Bad lenses that distort their features. Sometimes bad lighting or inappropriate lighting. The trashy clothes they have them wear. Overdone makeup. Too much tanning will age a girl ten years in just a few. Tanning is bad for the skin! Often, the colors just seem off. Shot from unflattering angles (even the most attractive people benefit from being shot from their "good angles"). What happens is girls end up working with guys who just don't put any effort in presenting them in a way that is flattering and after a while, people think they're just not attractive. Sometimes, it's amazing to me. I'll stumble across a gallery of photos of a girl I never really noticed in porn (because she just looked like a generic porn chick) and she actually looks good! And I think "Wow! Why can't she look like that in her movies?". Of course, the answer is that she could but that's not what they're after. They're just after the quick buck. Working with these guys, girls have to do more and more extreme stuff to keep an audience because they all look the same. They all have the same personality and the same act. They all love every sexual position and every sex act. They all want to taste their ass. The non-extreme girls figure out that you don't have to be extreme in order to be successful. You just have to have something unique or rare to offer to someone who recognizes it as a plus. There are porn girls I love who I've never seen with a dick in their ass. And they aren't necessarily even that attractive. What I like about them is that they look and act human in their scenes and they just don't look like every other porn girl. They don't wear cheesy fishnets. They come into a scene with their hair looking beautiful, their makeup looking just right (not too much and not too overt). They enjoy sex. The most successful non-extreme girls really enjoy what they do and they don't have to overact in order for it to show because it just does. They may not enjoy the extreme stuff but they do enjoy the stuff they will do. Genuine enjoyment can be subtle. It doesn't need flailing overacting. In short - They're "real". That's porn gold. Unfortunately, not a lot of pornographers really recognize it. It's easier to just grab a girl with big tits who screams good, sell her for all she's worth and dump her. It takes a little more work, time, money and effort to cultivate these kinds of girls. Non-extreme performers are also willing to settle for not being the center of attention in the industry. They realize that they just need a loyal fan base who recognizes their individuality and what makes them special. They know they don't need to be at the top. And they also know that if you have to do all kinds of crazy stuff to get there, you won't last long. They're happy where they are. That's not to say they have no ambition but they have realistic goals and expectations. If they're more successful than they expected to be, fine. But they don't demand it. There are more companies and genres/fetishes to work in. If a girl doesn't want to work with certain studios there are dozens to choose from. If a girls picks up a bit of weight there are studios doing "chunky" and "Fat ass" movies. If the girls gets a little older there are plenty of MILF movies out there. It's like the difference between something that's built by hand by a skilled tradesman and something that's mass produced in a factory. Technically, the latter may be of higher quality but it will be exactly the same every single time. It won't have any unique personal touches or subtle flaws that turn out to actually enhance the product. And any that happen will be mass produced times a million until you're sick of it. Perhaps the appeal of non-extreme porn these days is that it's less profitable and thus, maybe it tends to be done more by people who actually want to do it that way. Anyway.
