She did a big drama queen walk-off some time ago, but came back. As far as I'm concerned, if she says that she doesn't care if she never posts here again, that's the end of it. Everybody should stop beating a dead horse, and the xxx circle-jerk participants should go back to their own stupid little board and interact with the other five people who post there.
In that case, Ivor, perhaps you'd be better off at other forums where the "healthy threads" don't get locked. Please troll elsewhere.

I think all the talk about promotion is getting off the subject, as clearly a certain amount of self-promotion IS tolerated here and it's not what Jewel was banned for. It's obviously the many times she got her claws out and told people "bite me", or similar, that led to her booting.
Some people, myself included, welcome fiesty types who fight their corner when they percieve offence. They add a lot to a forum, and they earn people's respect. I guess Jewel's italian blood was just too rich for some people.
What makes this board special is the people regardless of what their role is in the adult industry.
Steph, Drew and the moderators have crafted an excellent Message Forum that manages to attract insiders as well as interesting (or in the case of Cobalt "interesting" ) and intelligent outsiders. and surprisingly everyone plays nice and there isnt much "leg humping" (except that swayze fella) ) and intelligent outsiders. and surprisingly everyone plays nice and there isnt much "leg humping" (except that swayze fella) ) and intelligent outsiders. and surprisingly everyone plays nice and there isnt much "leg humping" (except that swayze fella) ) and intelligent outsiders. and surprisingly everyone plays nice and there isn't much "leg humping" (except that swayze fella)
The people that run this site are pretty fair minded, flexible and easy to deal with. If you have a problem with them you need re-examine the rules and the facts.
Industry promotion on the board is an important element tool in keeping this site open. But in exchange I think it's fair to say that all forum members ask is that insiders treat fans as they would like to be treated.

I think this thread calls for nudie pics of Steph.
There certainly isn't anything wrong with promoting your business, that is simply good business sense. I think that the problem though is when the perception is that that is the only reason that you post here.
I came here because of my interest (as a fan) in the industry. It was fascinating in the beginning reading some of the insider stuff that has been posted over the years. I've stayed though because I enjoy the people here. Finding out who likes what kind of music, what kind of pets they have, their thoughts on one of nietzsche's goofy stories, etc. That is the kind of thing that makes someone a person rather than just a name on the computer screen.
While some topics should be avoided from a business standpoint (nobody cares about my views on "x", for you however if someone disagrees with it enough that they don't buy your products then you should have not said anything) there are plenty of others out there to jump in & join the general conversations. By doing that then you help get rid of the idea that the only reason that you are here is to sell stuff. That you actually want to be here & know something about the others that are here as we would be able to learn the goofy trivia that makes up you.
I think this is a great conversation. It's one we've had before, and it's one that's worthy of having now and again.
Maybe I'm misinterpretting, but I'm coming away from this thread pretty happy with the balance ADT has managed to maintain. We can't make everyone happy. If you think you can, go ahead and start your own forum and see how it goes.
That said though, I know we sometimes make mistakes. ADT is founded on a code of behavior that's honestly not hard and fast, or set in stone. Moderating the forum is a subjective process. If you don't agree with a decision, by all means, say something. Just be nice about it and realize that there are some decisions you'll just have to live with. I think I can safely say that no one around here necessarily agrees with every moderation decision that's been made (and that includes the moderators themselves), but hey... we're still here. We have a great community, and this thread just proves that to me.
And Jenna, I totally agree with Obibong. Your participation in this thread particularly has been most welcome and wonderful. :)
I think as far as promotion goes--listen to Steph. She nailed down some intelligent guidelines in her post. Again, ultimately it's subjective. I'm sorry that it is, but eh--what'r'y'gonna'do?
How about a little love astro? my point was very close to his although obi was more eloquent.

That's interesting. Care to name names?
Anyway, judging by what I have seen of Jewel, she is not the sort of person to eat humble pie. She's the sort of person to tell Steph and Drew where to stick their forum, and not come back unless they apologise to her, so the issue of allowing her back is probably moot.
What I want to know is, what about all the lesser known posters that quietly dissappear all the time? So many poster have been deactivated for apparently trivial reasons.
I'm talking about people like Simp, someone who I have never seen make a personal attack on anyone, but get consistantly banned whenever he signs up here. Many people find his tongue-in-cheek mysogyny amusing - why not just let him say it, and then people can air their objections?
Or poor Maged, whose, erm, slightly unconventional take on porn and motherhood was enough to get booted. (Though no-one seems to have picked up on the new account yet...)
I'm not trolling. When I troll, I do so with my tongue planted firmly in my cheek, and it should be obvious to an intelligent reader. I suppose I could be described as a "mission poster" in this instance, but rest assured everything I have said in this thread is completely serious.
And to add onto this thought, to realize that everything doesn't end with your projects. As an example, Skeeter whores his products fairly shamelessly, (but almost always does so in an enjoyable way) but is also able to listen to fans to see how he might be able to improve things rather than stating that he knows what people want better than they do. He's also willing to say when he thinks somebody else is doing a fantastic job. Being able to listen to the fans and direct them to someone other than themselves to find things they might like takes the edge off the promotion and does a great job of building community.

I second that idea!
Didn't have much to say about the issue before this. I'll miss Jewel telling people off and dropping F bombs. I'll miss her actually answering questions asked about herself (and not just PXP questions). Her responses never bothered me, even though I was never the target of Jewel's wrath. I wouldn't mind it if I was.
I like when people can be themselves, whoever they are. I do understand when people don't contribute anything meaningful to the board or start spamming constantly. But there's a difference between spam and promotion. In responding to questions, there's way to tactfully address an issue, but if people are opposed to Jewel's obnoxiousness, they might avoid hers or PXP's products. That would be the ultimate penalty.
But there are people here who value industry persons views on the industry. Tricia, Brandon, Kami, Jules, Jenna, DAC, etc. Yeah, I'm not the most famous person on this board, but I like to contribute too. I like when industry persons chime in on threads other than "Press Releases." It's nice when some asks a question about Ass Worship and Mr. Jordan answers it. I'm sure most people here will agree.
I'm positive there will be a day when we can all look back at this and have a good laugh. I mean, at least she wasn't talking about Britney Rears.
I remember there was a time when discussion over moderation/administrative policies/actions was discouraged in the forums and pushed to email. Not saying one way or the other is better or even if that this policy still exist when it seems the allowance to air certain issues out while locking others has been either completely arbitrary or some vague version of the stinky smell test.
I don't agree with some of the things that have been done here but it's not my board. Steph and Drew can do whatever the hell they want. If it really bothered me that much, I wouldn't participate. I guess that applies to all of us in general.
Then again, maybe the only reason I feel this way is because I get paid to bitch.
Well...I was able to read through most of the posts on all (8) pages of this thread.
I think what it boils down to is that this site has rules and is RULED by those that created it. Take it or leave it. It's your choice. If one decides to participate, one MUST abide by the laws of the land.
Now granted, the laws are not written in stone, and I for one believe that Steph or Drew would gladly amend them when approached with a persuasive argument.
Those of us that have something to promote will do so and sometimes, but hopefully not, shamelessly.
Anyway, all this talk is not the break in my day I was looking for.
Think I'll go pop in Take No Prsioners and rub one out...
Peace,
Doug

This is the nature of message boards - they are all dictatorships, some benevolent and some with a more Stalinist approach. The "take it or leave it" suggestion oversimplifies the decision, because the choice is not just to leave the moderation regime behind, but all the posters too. A poster may hate the way a board is run, but may choose to remain (while they can) because they like some of the other participants.

Indeed. But there are more than two simple options. I can think of four:
1. Leave the board, and all it's members behind. 2. Stay and be mindful of everything you say, lest you incur the wrath of the mighty moderators. 3. Stay, continue to speak your mind, but issue grovelling apologies if anyone takes offence. 4. Stay, continue to speak your mind and take the ban whenever it comes.
Well said Obi, something some people, I won't say where or whom, should try!!

Sadly, it appears that this thread has decended into thinly veiled personal attacks. I'm proud to say I never stoop to that level. Still, I would never suggest that comments such as this should be reason to lock a thread or ban a user.
I say let the good times roll, most of the time. But then I don't have to contend with emails from psychotic posters and high-maintenance whiners.
Not referring to ANYONE specifically, so for God's sake don't anyone suspect me of thinly veiled attacks. I save those for AC Cream
(May he rest in peace ... where the hell is he, anyway? I need a good IR combat thread now and again!)
I am tempted to complain about a lockdown from time to time. But you know what usually happens? The same damn topic comes right back up again in a few weeks.
Nothing's perfect and no one is consistent. I actually think you can earn the right to talk out of your ass from time to time if you're smart about it. But some people are only dumb or annoying about it, and after awhile I can't say I mind that they are not clogging up the bandwidth.
The funny thing about that is, there's always somebody new coming up to take their place.
Jewel was fun to have around, but I have no idea how patient I would be with anyone who was cut lots of slack and then was nasty about it. That's the flipside of the discussion. I'd like to think I;d say let freedom ring, but maybe I wouldn't be as enthusiastic or generous if I was footing the bill for someone's bad manners. Unless it was a site called www.adultdvdFUCKYOU.com. IN which case, sure!

OK, so let's roll with that. What exactly makes a person a shithead? Is it when their opinions differ from yours? I have seen several people banned from this forum simply because of the controversial opinions they expressed, which were deemed offensive, when they had not made any sort of personal attack on anyone.
Ok folks I think this thread has run it's course, lol, I know locking it would make the XXXtalk people happy but I'm not but keep up the tone and it will be.
Actually, we could close off this particular derailment of the thread (yes, that I opened) if you'd acknowledge that it is possible to speak openly without being banned. Unless you really think it isn't.
For the purposes of this discussion, I'll define shitheadedness as behaving in a manner known to antagonize the operators of this forum, and violate their posted rules -- especially after multiple warnings about such behavior.
Which applies to many of the people I can think of who were banned, possibly including Jewel (just to get us back on topic). You didn't have to take it personally.

I know it isn't. Not if you hold certain opinions on certain subjects, such as rough/degrading porn, the use of the word whore, or anything else that falls outside an arbitrary, unwritten and ever-changing set of boundaries.
This would be cool if it weren't for the fact that mere opinions are enough to antagonize some people. When you get warned about the opinions you express, your choice is either to apologise (when you have done nothing wrong), or argue your case, which is only going to antagonize them even more.
So basically your definition of shitheadness includes exactly what I said - holding controversial opinions.
That comment was loaded with an obvious personal shot, and I couldn't care less, but it served my point well to hightlight the hypocrisy of it.
There have actually been logical and thoughtful discussions of "rough/degrading porn" that had room for many perspectives. However, it seems impossible to have those types of threads without "shitheads" -- so to speak, please do not imply I refer to anyone specifically -- showing their ass. Not that showing your ass or being a shithead does not have its place, but most shitheads who decide to act as such here are really shitty shitheads. Shitheads who are witty rather than shitty may get more play. There are plenty of examples of cranky forum members who have thousands of posts. But someone who comes in cranky from the jump may not last long enough to soil their shithead boxers. I don't know, that's what it looks like to me. It seems easy enough to navigate.
You're still confusing holding an opinion with the way in which that opinion is expressed. Maybe I'm wrong, but aren't there plenty of people here who still like, and discuss, rough sex?
Look at it this way. We're both still posting. A strong indication that you're wrong. I'll let it lie there.

Why, Bono? What's bothering you here?
The conversation has made a natural progression from Jewel's banning onto a more general discussion of the moderation policy here. What is wrong with that? Why are you so keenly looking for an excuse to silence it?
Are you going to use the little bit of back-and-forth banter between me and Obi as an excuse?

Normally I would not read every post in a thread, but this one was pretty good. You had the typical ass kisser singing praises to talent. You had the desperate fans in a panic over lossing their favorite star. Hell, we even had fellow stars coming to the aid of their peer.
I've seen Ken Griffey yell at kids, Network Anchors lose it while still on camera, and read about multiple preachers caught in scandal. We are a flawed people, without doubt. But, like Steph said, nopbody gets a pass. The good news is Jewel made the decsision. An appology would bring her back, and my guess is she'll be back, because this is not the 1st time she left in a huff.
I don't know what happened, and I really don't care. I thought her post were 75, bad marketing. As a fan, I hate the fact that every question asked of her had a PXP answer attached. When I see jewel in front of the camera, I see her, not a PXP logo, but I overlook that because her answers may help some people who aren't familiar with her product.
I talk to Jewel on rare occasion and I will say that on a one on one level, she was considerate of me.
On the flip, personal conversation should effect what happens here. If a member insults ownership or moderation, we should need to know what happened in order to believe the situation was handled properly. Have you forgotten JM productions...?
Either way, life goes on and I'd rather come to a place where I don't have to worry about being insulted because I don't have the screeen time, or the money that some do.
It's been said, She's welcome to come back, but the bigger issue is the actions, not the person, and if it had been a "nobody", we wouldn't even be discussing this.

Within certain boundaries, and whilst looking over their shoulder constantly, yes. But every once in a while the discussion heats up again, and more get banned. Some opinions can't be expressed in politically correct ways.
There's at least one mod clearly itching to pull the trigger, just looking for an excuse. I think the only reason this thread continues and I am still posting (for the moment) is that they know they will be proving my point so perfectly, and so publicly.
You know what have your thread and if Bill, Steph, or Drew want to lock it so be it. This just isn't what ADT is about for me in anyway. I'm all about being positive and promoting the beautiful girls in this industry and all this backbiting and people trying to be clever with their double meanings just isn't that fun anymore so have at it and I'll just pop in a hot Ariana scene!!
I came away from this thread actually feeling very positive about where ADT has been and is heading. I'm very glad I stumbled upon this board about this time last year because of the fact that provocative issues are handled in a mature way here. For the most part, the exchanges are adult (given the subject matter, a certain amount of juvenile behavior is almost to be expected) and threads are allowed to fully explore whatever directions are available. The amount of shameless promotion is negligible, the amount of useful promotion great, and the juxtaposition of industry insider knowledge versus the opinions of everyday fans like myself very valuable. I think the participation of most of the professionals in the industry is welcome and interesting - but I do tire of the fawning responses at times. {Hey, I think Jenna is gorgeous and a businesswoman who has rocked this entire industry also...but thats beyond the point!}
However, every conversation has an end. If not allowed to die a natural death, this thread will continue to be only "a little bit of back-and-forth banter" between a couple people and that probably doesn't interest most others.
