I watch this maybe once a fortnight, this gem of a Steve Holmes film, and I think despite good reviews, it was one of 2007's most underrated efforts. The film takes the party atmosphere, catches gorgeous Euro girls off-guard and relaxed but with better camerawork and stylisation that in normal reality fare, makes the party itself look groovy, then launches into some of the most engaging many-girls-on-a-couple-of-guys sex around, with a great mix of fun party spirit and depraved nastiness. I've seen many reverse gangbangs in my time. Hard to believe any of them got the job done, and made such a lasting impression, and felt like a genuine achievement, better than this film. Would like to know the thoughts of others.
I agree. I've never been a fan of gangbangs for how still and choreographed they always feel, which is a shame because gangbangs are a fantasy of mine and it's a shame I have seen too few that have genuinely stimulated me. But Nothing Butt Fun feels very much how a (reverse) gangbang should feel, or how I always imagined one to feel (no expert on being in a gangbang here). The party atmosphere for the girls, and the emphasis on this in the first few minutes of the film, sets the tone of the scene and shows the women being the ones in control and using the men as their own personal party favors. The "lead" girl (the birthday girl) was actually pretty funny and kept things rolling in a way that I can't quite describe but oddly works. It's no secret that I'm partial to Steve Holmes work in general. But I may have mentioned a few times here that I've never been a big fan of gangbang scenes, strictly for the reason I stated above. This one really works, however, and I have to give Mr. Holmes credit for his choice in editing, keeping the flow, and wrangling a pretty terrific little crew for this disc-long endeavor. At the rate I'm going I may never wind up in a real gangbang (which is a shame!) but this disk is the next best thing to live vicariously through. I hope I came off coherent in this. I just woke up three minutes ago and my eyelids are still glued shut.

I know on another thread you've explained how difficult it can be to produce and direct films when you can contribute very effectively to other people's films as a star, but could we at least ask for one Nothing Butt Fun per year? I really like this film, and more importantly, it's very easy to buy for friends who are marginally interested in porn, because the fun party spirit of it works very well, and organically shifts to the sex. Tommy Sy made very astute camera angle choices. Melpster, the 'birthday girl' is the lovely Leda Paris. Steve, do you know if she's still active? I'm such a fan of her work for 21st Sextury and in Rocco Animal Trainer 21, but you really see her personality come out in Nothing Butt Fun. I hope if there is a sequel or another reverse gangbang, that Leda is a part of that, and that her submissive nature in sex is allowed to shine alongside her girlish personality. She's got such a gorgeous, mysterious look, and is a willing gaper. I'd love to do a podcast and ask heaps more questions about this and other films you've directed and starred in in 2007 and 2008. a more-or-less personal question for Mr Holmes, and one which I would fully understand if he doesn't want to answer… You mention your wife and kids in the previous post. I see that your wife knows what you do, but are your kids (I assume they are under 20) aware of your work? If so, does this present difficulties? My understanding is that folks in Western Europe have fewer hang-ups about sex than them in the U.S. But I would imagine that Mr Holmes is fairly well-known in Europe (you live in Germany most of time, yeah?) and am curious regarding the repercussions of your work on your family life… Obviously, your performing persona can be separated from your off-screen life. But I admit that I have a hard time picturing your family life, insofar as your performance style seems vampiric (this is a compliment) and seems reflective of something very true about you.
